SERVICE ABOVE WATER Service Above Self was truly at work on the morning of September 8, 2012. Risking their health, four Magical Rotarians namely Rtn. Ryan Dionisio, Rtn, Jaypee Delos Santos, Rtn. Dexter Ortega, and Rtn. Jay Santiago, together with the Rotaractors from the Rotaract Clubs of Manila and San Pedro East (3820) held a Joint relief operations at the still-flooded areas of San Pedro in the Province of Laguna. They distributed relief goods partly funded by the donation of Manila Magical Rotarians (VP Oliver Alvarez, Dir. Mark Arquiza, Dir. Tiffany Go, Dir. Abby Dionisio, Dir. Men- nen Gonzales, and Rtn. Mich Arce) and the Rotaractors from RID 3310, Malaysia spearheaded by the Rotaract Club of Subang. A morning for service indeed! Dr. Jose Rizal once said that “The Youth is the Hope of the Future!” Indeed the words of the country’s National Hero, will forever be relevant to any gen- eration of our great race. Let us meet an embodiment of his words and just like him, a doctor. Let us welcome an advocate for universal health care coverage for all Filipinos, Our Magical Speaker: DR. BRYAN ALBERT LIM A general medical practitioner, he is currently the Program Coordina- tor of the Asian Institute of Man- agement - Zuellig Center for Asian Business Transformation. He is a Research Associate of the University of the Philippines - Universal Health Care Study Group and a House Physician at San Pablo Doctors' Hospital. He is the Project Adviser and Propo- nent of the 2nd Quisumbing Escandor Film Festival for Health, a nationwide filmmaking contest on documentaries and short film that highlight social determi- nants of health issues. These films are being used for education and advocacy purposes nationwide. He is the proponent of an ongoing project, IM4UHC, a website that will facilitate sharing of clinical knowledge, patient education se- ries, and multi-sectoral discussions of health issues. Also, together with partners, he is developing modules on creative Public Health Lecture/ Workshop for kids, a cookbook on how to cook nutritious foods with only 20 pesos. Bryan is an active alumnus of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines Alum- ni Association and the Ayala Young Leaders. A collaboration with his fellow Asia Society “Asia 21 Fellow”, Councilor "Concon" Fernandez led to a project that brings cheap, portable wheelchairs to the elderly and disabled. A NEW ERA OF MAGICAL ROTARY

SEVICE CP Charlie Chua and the Magical Rotarians were wel-

comed to the magical world of Rotary Service by

friends and mentors in an elegant affair.

The Magic Has Begun! The Charter Presentation and First Induction Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Manila Magic was a rousing suc-cess as participants trooped to the Kachina Ballroom of the Century Park Hotel last September 1, 2012! Rotari-ans and Rotaractors from Rotary International Dis-tricts 3780, 3820, 3830, 3800, and 3810, came to witness the formal induction of RID 3810's New Genera-tion Rotary Club! CP Char-lie Chua and the Magical Rotarians welcomed Past

RI Director Rafael Hecha-nova, the Philippines only active Senior Rotary Leader as Guest of Honor and Speaker. RID3810 District Governors came in full force namely DG Ismael Merca-do, PDG Charoy Marquez, IPDG Ernie Choa, DGE Karen Tamayo, and DGN Edmond Aguilar. Rotarians from our sponsoring clubs, RC Bagumbayan, Paco, and Ermita were also in attendance! Many thanks to all our friends and partners in service for making our event a most magical one!
