Ponteland Churches Together WELCOME TO PARTY IN THE PARK
This is the 16th Ponteland Party in the Park, an event which has become a major attraction in the local calendar with over 2000 attending. This programme contains the timetable of events and organisations who will be attending. On the centre pages there is a layout of what will be in the park on the day, which I hope will be helpful. We will be entertained by Ponteland Community Band, the Jill Errington Dancers, Richard Coates School Orchestra and Choir and the Rock Choir. Other attractions include a fun fair, pony rides, Punch and Judy, a climbing wall, archery and bouncy castle along with a tea tent, a BBQ and various stalls promoting local organisations and charities. We are grateful to all the businesses who sponsor the event and volunteers who work hard to enable the event to happen. As usual the event is organised by the Christian Churches in Ponteland: St Matthew’s St Mary’s, the Methodist Church and the United Reform Church. The object of Party in the Park is to create a social gathering for families in Ponteland and support local charities. It is a celebration of our village life and we do hope that you will be able to support this community event.

Hedleys Craftwork is part of the Percy Hedley Foundation Adult Services, based in Westerhope, Newcastle. The workshop provides for a practical hands
on activity incorporating the design and construction of wood and metal
Last year Hedleys Craftwork was delighted to receive a donation from Ponteland Party in the Park. The money was used towards purchasing two orbital sanders for the workshop. The donation enabled us to replace some of our older equipment at a time when our order book was at its busiest. With the new equipment we can now have
up to four people sanding and preparing our projects. Very, very much appreciated!
A full list of the local charities who received donations from Party in the Park 2017 can be found on the back of this programme.

TWAM
Tools With A Mission (TWAM), is a Christian charity which sends tools across the world to those in need. The charity relies on tool donations and has a long list of “Wanted Tools” to allow them to put together “trade kits” to help people to make a livelihood and therefore more able to support themselves. Tools are sent to Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi and many more places. Garden tools are only the tip of the iceberg; carpentry tools, electrical tools, builders’ tools, sewing and knitting machines are a few of the desperately needed items, which will provide people with the practical resources to help build their lives. Drop off points for any tools are Ponteland and Milbourne Methodist Churches. Further details are available at our stall.
Once again Radio Tyneside is delighted to be compering Ponteland’s Party in the Park. Over the afternoon we will be providing all the announcements as to what is happening across the park along with music. We invite you to pop in and see us at our marquee near the stage.
If you haven’t heard of Radio Tyneside, we are the hospital broadcasting service for Newcastle and Gateshead and for the past 67 years we’ve been entertaining the patients in the RVI, Freeman and Queen Elizabeth hospitals. This year has been a special one for us having won 4 awards (2 Gold and 2 Silver) at the National Hospital Radio Awards back in March. Earlier this month we were gifted with the Queens award for voluntary service which is the MBE for charities. Next month sees the biggest change in the station’s history when we will be heard across the whole of the Newcastle and Gateshead areas broadcasting on a frequency of 93.6 FM. This will allow us to extend all our great choice of programmes and music to a larger audience as well as promoting health and well-being. We will of course continue to broadcast to the hospital patients. Please do give us a listen and in the meantime enjoy your afternoon at Ponteland’s Party in the Park. Dave Nicholson MBE, Chairman.
