AU.S.-ColombiaTradePromotionAgreement(CTPA)hasthepotentialtoincreasebothtradeandinvestmentbetweentheUnitedStatesinColombia,improvingonanalreadystrongrelationship.In

particular,Mainestandstogainfromincreasedbusinessties,astheCTPAwillcreatejobsathome

throughincreasedexportmarketaccessforbothgoodsandservices,reducedpricesfor

manufacturers,andanimprovedinvestmentenvironment.

WhileMaineexporterstypicallyfacetariffsof10-15

 percent,94percentofColombia’sexportstotheUnited

Statesin2010entereddutyfree.CTPAwouldlevelthe

 playingfieldforMaineexporters.
