    Many womens groups focus on very small

    income generating activities which do not

    improve their economic status. Basali

    Ntlafatsong chose to ask members tocontribute a once of amount of about

    R2000.00 so that the project proposed

    can be of middle enterprises.

    Very important because women are key

    producers of households and if they

    engaged in sustainable projects they will

    support their families and those ofvulnerable in their communities.

    We have bought a hatching machine and

    we sell chicks and every member was

    given three chicks as a start up for their

    own production of eggs and meat to meethousehold nutrition and income.

    This is meant to be a life time project aimed

    at creating other projects including aiding

    support groups working with orphans to

    generate income for their projects

    Our key target is women.

    Men and women are equally involved in this

    project.

    We have developed partnership withsupport groups working on orphans well

    being.

    Members contribute a once off fee from whichthey have bought a small hatching machine

    and they also rear chicken for sale.

    The capital is used to buy coffee mugs thatare sold during national celebrations. We use

    part of this money to buy clothes for a child we

    adopted.

    We have used the radio as our mainchannel to publicise our association and

    events.

    We use monthly meetings to monitor ourproject, and thus report on achievements

    and short comings.

    We also have a patron who is the overseerof the project.

    Articles 15-19: We are registered underLesotho Cooperatives because the

    association has adopted one of its major

    ideas of savings and credits at the end ofthe year members share profits

    accumulated thereof.

    It does not focus on individual membersonly, it extends a helping hand to the needy

    in the community such as support groups

    and vulnerable children thus developing in

    them a sense of self reliance. This ensures sustainability because these

    children will grow with this idea instilled in

    them therefore they will be able to pass it tothe next generation.

    We have learned that we need to befocused, be patient and have passion for

    what we want to achieve.
