Eaton ® VORAD ® BackSpotter VORAD BackSpotter is a radar-based object detection system designed to alert the driver of obstacles behind the vehicle while in reverse. Radar-based technology is effective in detecting objects in poor visibilities such as fog, rain, snow, sun glare and at night. Camera-based vision and mirrors are not as effective in these conditions. When the VORAD BackSpotter detects an object in the coverage area while the vehicle is in reverse, it reports the obstacle by indicating audible and visual alerts on the drivers display unit. Eaton’s BackSpotter helps drivers avoid collisions when backing up large vehicles such as motor- coaches, straight trucks and refuse applications. Item Description Green Power ON Illuminates continuously after power is applied to the system. The power ON and all other LEDs will blink quickly if a system malfunction occurs. Range Indications Illuminates to give operator a relative distance measurement to the closest detected object. LEDs operate from the right to the left, with the closer an object the more LEDs illuminated. Buzzer Sounds audible tones to alert operator of obstacles. The buzzer tone rate will increase as the vehicles gets closer to an object. Volume Control Switch This momentary push button switch allows three different buzzer volume levels to be selected, as well as providing the capability of turning off the buzzer.
