67,502 children and youth have been helped since the launch of the National Campaign for Child Welfare in 2014 CAMPAIGN DONORS TRANSFORMED BREANNA’S LIFE My mom took her own life when I was six. After she died, I went and lived with extended family. It was an abusive home environment, and when I was 12, I moved in with my dad. He wasn’t able to take care of me either, so I came into care. Access to education gave me the possibility of creating a future that’s nothing like my past. Thanks to the support of Children’s Aid Foundation I earned an Honours degree with Distinction and a postgraduate certificate with the highest GPA in my class. Last summer, through the Element Fleet Management Youth Capital Program, I was placed in an internship with RBC in Human Resources. I’m now working there permanently and I can honestly say that the education support I received and the internship changed my life. There is tremendous momentum building as we enter the next phase of the Campaign. As the new Campaign Co-Chairs, we can certainly attest to the fact that there has never been a more exciting time to be part of this visionary community of philanthropists. We have been overwhelmed by the interest, compassion and generosity of our volunteers, supporters and donors but most of all by the determination and resiliency of the kids we serve. They are truly remarkable. We would like to acknowledge the leadership of Laura Dottori-Attanasio during the first phase of the Campaign. We are honoured to build upon her success as we move closer to our goal. Thank you also to the members of the Campaign Leadership Council and to all of you – our most generous donors and connectors – who are also playing an important leadership role. As well as bringing light to the challenges faced by vulnerable children and youth, you are investing in their future and encouraging others to help them reach their greatest potential. Your commitment to our cause is making a very real impact on the lives of thousands of kids across the country who have experienced abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Through your heartfelt generosity, you are letting them know that they are not alone and ensuring they are provided the opportunities they need to move beyond their past and confidently into a successful future. Thank you very much for your support.

Sincerely,

WILLIAM BuTT DOuGAL MACDONALD Corporate Director President and Managing Director, Morgan Stanley Canada Limited

Co-Chairs, Campaign Leadership Council, Children’s Aid Foundation

DEAR FRIENDs,

Last year, we marked an incredible milestone in the National Campaign for Child Welfare by reaching the midway point of our ambitious $60-million goal. We are excited to share that with your generous support, we have passed the

60 per cent mark with over $37 million raised for Canada’s most vulnerable

children! Together, we truly do have the strength to change lives.

$2 MILLIONILAN LEvy

Before his passing in 2016, Ilan Levy – a champion, mentor, and friend to disadvantaged young people – created a lasting legacy by remembering Children’s Aid Foundation in his will. A new $1.8-million endowment created through his bequest will allow youth from care across Canada to pursue graduate degrees and recognize academic excellence through graduation awards.

$1.3 MILLIONDAvE ThOMAs FOuNDATION FOR ADOPTION

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is committed to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions from foster care. The Foundation’s signature program is called Wendy’s Wonderful Kids, which funds grants to adoption agencies throughout Canada. WWK recruiters are solely focused on finding loving, permanent homes for children who have been in foster care the longest.

$1 MILLION RBC FOuNDATION

In early 2017, RBC Foundation committed $1 million towards a national employability program at 4 sites across Canada aimed at helping young people leaving care and ensuring they have the skills they need to move forward into a brighter future.

$900,000JOE CARTER CLAssIC

Funds raised by the annual Joe Carter Classic golf tournament are supporting the Joe Carter Family Support Fund, which builds stronger families and communities in the Toronto area, decreasing the number of children and youth entering the child welfare system. Over the past seven years, with the dedication and generosity of the Joe Carter Classic, over $1.5 million has been raised to fund 3 endowed annual scholarships and support 82 children and youth through the Joe Carter Family Support Fund.

$100,000hBC FOuNDATION

A new national cause-related marketing partnership between HBC Foundation and Children’s Aid Foundation will provide critical mental health support to youth leaving care across Canada. Proceeds from a candle designed by Brian Gluckstein and sold at Hudson’s Bay and Home Outfitters across the country will help provide counselling and therapy for young people leaving care, who have all experienced childhood trauma.
