Here is the equipment you will most likely need to complete this unit of work. Although you may want to change these slightly e.g. you may want to bind the calendar in a different way to this.
MakingYou need to produce
12 designs one for each calendar month using a graphics package of your choice e.g. Corel Draw or Photoshop.
Apply the skills you have learnt throughout
this unit. Think about
how you combine colours, images and layout as you complete your work.
Making
Think further about : • Linking colour within the calendar, • Selecting images that work together because of a theme e.g.
sport, hobbies or images that have a similar graphic style. See the example above.
• Layout formats – think about the division of thirds.
• Clarity of the text and numbers.
MakingDesign 12 calendar pages using Photoshop. The number of pages you will need depends on the layout of months per page. Step 1
MakingOnce you have designed your pages, check for any errors. Check
with your teacher that your pages are suitable for printing and any printing preferences that may be needed..
Step 2
MakingTrim the excess white edges of the calendar using the guillotine. Throw the rubbish into the recycling bin. Place the printed page on
the edge of the guillotine to make sure you get a straight edge.Step 3
Making
Make the window mounts. Measure your printed calendar page e.g. 15cm x 21cm. Select an appropriate mount paper. Draw a box in the centre of
the page slightly smaller than your calendar page e.g. 14cm x 20cm.
Draw a box in the centre of the page slightly smaller than your calendar page.
Use a craft knife and a safety ruler, cut a square window from the mount paper.
SAFETY – use the craft with care always cut away from
your fingers.
Step 4
Place a second sheet of mounting paper, but without a rectangle cut out of it and glue it onto the back.
Place the trimmed calendar page
in the centre of the mounting page. Remember - the calendar page should be slightly bigger.
Tape the calendar page on to the back of the mounting page using masking tape.

Repeat the process for all twelve pages.Step 6

Carefully thread the key rings through
the punched holes. Other bindings could be used such as threads or elastic bands.
Experiment to see what gives you the
most professional finish.
