Malaca English Club is the Scientific Club of English Department at Guelma’s University. It has witnessed radical change recently, from the members “who are all new this year” and also the naming. As a president of this Club I can say that things are going slow but fine till now, we did many activities such as 1. Student of the month: in which teachers would elect best student of the last month according to his/her work, behavior and participation.2. Movie Exposition: we intend to show movies related to the syllabus, from literature to civilization....ect in order to facilitate things for our dear fellows. 3. Publishing articles written by department students to encourage and shape their skills.

Our objectives in the near future can be resumed in: 1. Monthly Magazine which will be published soon nchallah in which most articles are written by English students. 2. Weekly and regular Movie Expositions 3. Planning for a conference with foreign teachers and also Native speakers in order to get in direct touch with our beloved language “English».4. Organizing regular meeting with the club members, English students, teachers and administration staff. Sincere thanks from the hearts to all who helped producing this

Schizophrenia affects 1 percent of the nation’s general population, according to the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD), a nonprofit organization in Great Neck, NY. Although males and females are equally affected by schizophrenia, symptoms of the condition most normally appear earlier in males. In some instances the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia will appear before the age of 12 or 13, but these cases are rare.“The typical age of onset for schizophrenia is in the late teens or early adulthood,” says Russell Scheffer, a clinical psychologist at Southwestern University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. “The onset of clear psychosis is typically in the teens or early adult years. It can occur before the onset of puberty. Prior to the onset of clear-cut psychosis there is often a period of decline in functioning in social situations and school. These negative symptoms, including social withdrawal, are often the most difficult symptoms to

treat.”What Is Schizophrenia?According to the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD), schizophrenia is a “serious brain disorder that makes it difficult for a person to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses to others and to behave normally in social situations and may also have difficulty in remembering, talking and behaving appropriately.”Schizophrenia is not a condition of “split personality,” depression, laziness, the influence of inappropriate upbringing or insufficient or uncaring parents. Schizophrenia, like any other disease or illness, has signs, symptoms and means for diagnosis and treatment. Its cause, however, is still unknown. “There are a variety of theories about the cause of schizophrenia,” Scheffer

chizophrenia is an often-misunderstood illness. Even those who have it do not totally understand the nature of their condition, so

it can be a confusing, terrifying experience. Add to that the normal stress of teenage life, and you have

captured the essence of teenage schizophrenia: a world of fear, confusion and helplessness where no one else can join you a world of your own.

The disorder is physically, emotionally and mentally

draining for the families of those afflicted. Schizophrenic teens often have difficulty functioning normally in society and may need financial assistance, emotional support and daily help for tasks such as taking medication. As the symptoms normally progress slowly over time, in most cases, teachers and peers will be the first to notice the early signs.“My daughter was 13 years old when diagnosed with schizophrenia,” says Shirley Good of Altoona, Pa. “She had a history of running away as early as age 7 and began having problems with extreme arachnophobia fear of spiders at age 8. She also had problems with vomiting when she rode in the family car, especially on her way to and from ballet classes.” Her daughter’s symptoms progressed until around age 11, when she intensified her running away tactics and became highly uncooperative in school. “One day her father showed up with bleeding arms and face saying our daughter had attacked him,” Good says. “I went to her room and found her banging her head against a window frame, drawing blood. She was forcibly restrained and taken to the hospital where she was treated for injuries, then admitted to the psychiatric unit for diagnosis and treatment. This was the first of many admissions and diagnoses of schizophrenia.”

says. “These include a neurodevelopmental model that states that brain abnormalities are present at birth and become expressed at a later date due to maturational or environmental factors. A second hypothesis states that a person would have an underlying genetic vulnerability but would require an environmental stressor such as birth trauma, psychological stressors or head trauma to fully express the illness. There are many other theories about the cause of schizophrenia, and many of these focus on (the brain chemicals) dopamine, serotonin and glutamate.”

Teens who have a family member with schizophrenia are 30 percent more likely to develop the disorder themselves, NARSAD reports. If both parents have the disorder or a history of the disorder, the teen is then 40 percent more likely to develop schizophrenia. “My brother struggled with what took us years to diagnose paranoid schizophrenia,” says Tammie McElligott of Berrien Springs, Mich. “Before becoming ill, he was a friendly boy who loved to play, laugh and

be with people. As the illness began to show itself, he seldom joined the rest of the family.”During her brother’s junior high years, teachers reported that the boy seemed distracted. By age 22, he left the house with a gun, walked down the street and fatally shot himself.“It is amazing to my family how this particular illness has been making headlines more and more with boys in their teenage years and early 20s,” McElligott says. “There are concerns as to the possibilities of either my sister or myself having the illness and what about our children?”Different Symptoms Than AdultsThe disorder expresses itself differently in teens. It is often difficult to recognize it in the early stages unless evaluated by an adolescent psychiatrist who specializes in teenage schizophrenia. Yet the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry offers the following warning signs, which may indicate the onset of teenage schizophrenia:

• Difficulty telling dreams from reality • Delusions and hearing

voices that are not real • Confused or very displaced thinking • Vivid and bizarre thoughts and ideas • Extreme moodiness • Paranoia • Behaving in ways normally associated with much younger children • Severe anxiety and fearfulness • Confusing television life or situation with own reality • Severe problems in making and keeping friends • Teens with schizophrenia may exhibit behavior changes slowly, over time. Children who were once active in sports, socially active with friends or with family may begin to withdraw and become shy or secluded. Often teens will begin discussing strange situations they feel they were a part of, but that never really occurred, or they may regress into childish behaviors and become dependent upon their parents. They may be “clingy” or fearful of people, animals or objects.• Teens who exhibit the early warning signs should be evaluated so an individualized treatment plan can be developed which may include individual

therapy, family therapy, social skill training, psychiatric medication and monitoring. Parents, who feel their child fits the screening criteria, or who have a family history of schizophrenia, should discuss the possibility and request a referral to a child and adolescent psychiatrist who is trained and specializes in evaluating, diagnosing and treating teens with schizophrenia.• The timing and method of treatment can largely influence the response and outcome. “Early treatment appears to be the best indicator of treatment response,” Scheffer says. “The longer someone is psychotic hallucinating, paranoid, delusional, disorganized in thoughts, speech or behavior or having negative symptoms such as social withdrawal the harder the psychosis is to treat and the longer it takes for them to get better. Early medical attention often leads to a better outcome.”• While there is no cure, those afflicted with

In 2007, Apple’s chief executive, Steven P. Jobs, introduced the iPhone, which instantly became one of the most talked-about consumer prod-ucts ever. Thousands of customers lined up to be the first to buy the phones, which featured computing and Wi-Fi capabilities, along with a crisp, computer-like display on an innova-tive touch screen. Rivals rushed phones with similar features onto the market.Three years later, seeking to fend off intensifying competition from Google and others in the smart-phone business, Apple in 2010 introduced a new version of the iPhone that includes a front-facing camera for video chats. The iPhone 4 became Apple’s most successful phone introduction yet and sales were expected to accelerate when Veri-zon offered its version of the iPhone. The long-expected arrival of the iPhone on Verizon ended years of exclusivity for AT&T and was likely to upend the smartphone market in the United States. Consumer surveys suggested that demand for a Verizon iPhone is large, as many people

have held off from buying an iPhone simply to avoid AT&T’s much-publicized network problems, which include spotty coverage and dropped calls.Despite icy temperatures in New York on Feb. 10, 2011, people eager to buy the new iPhone filed into Apple and Verizon stores. Many noted, however, that the stores seemed to have prepared for a much larger crush of customers than they received. The muted enthusiasm was in sharp contrast to the initial in-troduction of the iPhone 4 on AT&T’s network in June 2010.A Verizon iPhone could help sell millions of new devices, continuing the iPhone’s strong momen-tum. It may also become an obstacle to the rapid rise of Android devices, most of which are sold by Verizon Wireless. While the iPhone remains the best-selling smartphone in the United States, many handset makers sell devices running Google’s Android software. Col-lectively, those devices outsell the iPhone.Verizon’s iPhone version will work only on the car-rier’s current “3G” network even though the carrier has fired up

a faster “4G” network in many cities. That super-fast wireless data net-work is available only to plug-in laptop modems for now, but Verizon will have smart phones for it by the summer of 2011.Verizon’s iPhone 4 has one feature AT&T’s does not: It can act as a por-table Wi-Fi “hot spot,” connecting up to five laptops or other devices to Verizon’s 3G network through Wi-Fi. It’s a fea-ture that’s been offered on other smart phones, usually for an added monthly fee.

The act of Cheating is a shared burden on both the teacher and the student, teachers do not sick to exterminate it in its cradle but rather wait till it occurs and then they punish the student. They have to emphasis the use of the student’s own style his

own recapitulation and comprehension to the lesson not a process of copy paste to the course handed to them…. Thus accepting nothing but their lectures back to them is reinforcement for cheating, since the student is not asked neither to create nor to comprehend but rather

to memorize in monotonous way. Otherwise, we should not minimize the student’s fault for it’s mainly theirs, most of the students do care only about marks and as a consequence a short term memory

is the key, they look like empty vessels unable to tell about the previous year program this is from one side due to their disregard, negligence, indolence… and from another side due to the teacher’s focus on the size of the content rather than quality. Thus, a teacher should specify an objective from a given assessment and aim at reaching it not collecting back his handouts, this way a cheater would rather think twice than taking the risk for a fruitless try. After all a cheater or a walking tape recorder will not assist in improving or building a society but rather he will be a heavy burden on it for he lacks any sense of creativity or self contribution.

However, As Mark Twain said “All generalizations are false including this one” i.e. this article is not a denial for the existence of intentional teachers or motivated students in our university but rather an objective critique to an obvious realistic fact.

Maroua BOUDEMAGH

heating in exam seems to be the primary interest for most of the students; the

issue of concern is on how most of the students cheat. The same ways of cheating take place throughout time with some additions or utterances, whether through writing on their arms, on the desk top before the exam starts, or through the use of the latest methods of cheating that involves mobile phones, These handy little implements are perfect for cheaters to text questions to their friends outside the room and receive answers from them or more, with Djezzy free option most of cheaters ask from outsiders to dictate the lectures … all these are just a sample of infinite ways for cheating, but the question here is whether the blame falls only on students or on teachers as well ?

niversity is the place where intellectual

people go and acquire high studies; they join it seeking for knowledge and improvement of their culture, behavior and education. Nowadays society appreciates only educated people for their knowledge and experience concerning various fields of life.

By the brief definition above, we may understand that university is like a “Dream Realizer”, but in fact and like any other aspect of life; it is facing some obstacles that make it progress difficult if not totally stopped.

• The relationship between the teacher and the student:

Teacher; like any other human being; is the supreme member in the classroom who performs his/her work by giving and providing his/her knowledge to students. Unfortunately this is not the case found in our departments as a whole, some of them do not consider their position as a duty, rather as a work that provides them last month pay-check.

U Moreover teachers rely on copies more than full explanation; they prefer sticking in their chairs instead of using mental power or physical strength. Home works given to students have become the center (source) of lecture; they prepare and present it to their classmates; the latter who may not get or understand everything; mainly because it’s their friend who is giving them information; not their teacher.” students have not enough experience to act as a teacher they are still studying”. Let’s talk about the “Student’s Nightmare” which is the mark. Usually students are seeking for high marks which are hardly achieved: not only because of their laziness or bad reputation, but also because of teachers.

From one hand as a result of difficult exams and the wild courses which some of them are not important to be studied, and from the other hand because of the hard correction; well the “red pen” is the teacher’s favored color, a means that could harm students’ future.Another point winch is important to mention is the lack of psychological knowledge. Teachers do not know how to deal with students to win them over. In addition to the lack of experience some teachers; especially those who have just graduated; they have not enough experience to be university teachers. And this is not about experience only but also the lack of information which plays a great role. For example: when a teacher stands on the blackboard and writes

writes a statement full of mistakes, we think that he/she has not the necessary qualification to act as a high studies teacher.Another fact which is highly remarked these days is that Students are not allowed to doubt about the information given to them, they do not dare to discuss this point with teachers: this would harm the psychological side of a student. When he is treated as inferior who knows nothing, here he/she would think that they are not qualified to express themselves or give their viewpoint upon the courses studied.

• The relationship between the student and the teachers:

This relationship is identified with the idea that student has to get as much information and knowledge from teachers or professors. In that period of life the one is eager to know everything, asking about the modules studied and everything around too. Students’ laziness and carelessness upon their duties is seen when they do not take works given to them seriously, they always want to be served on a silver plate. Students are not angels: some of them behave badly in front of teachers, they talk to them with an informal way, also they stock pill their lessons till the day of the exams and then they want to get high marks.

• Library Phenomenon:University library in every domain helps us to gather and share ideas and revise, broadly speaking library does not serve us because it became as a refuge from rain and cold. In spite of learning or reading some people come to have their meals and meet each other; furthermore they put music in high

high volume forgetting about those who are learning or preparing their work. Moreover the library is not well organized concerning the service or the book lists; in this corner we should blame the responsible of the borrowing service. For example when we go and look for a book in English we have to check all the lists in different fields till we got what we are looking for and sometimes we don’t. Here we can suggest a way which is used for decades in the foreign universities, this is called “computers” by this the research for a book would be much easier: just enter the name of the book and its writer by this everything is done nice and easy! From another side, the studies (study rooms of library) are becoming crowded as a result of the increasing number of students who came from study different fields or branches; they became not enough space to be comfortable in learning.

• Bus Phenomenon:Let us spot the light on the university’s bus in which we find a lot of harmful effects.

of harmful effects. Students have to wait for along time and when the bus comes they do not find a place in it -and by a place we don’t mean a seat, it’s rather a spot of space where you can stand- In addition, the departure time of the bus is not well organized and as a result students are late for their sessions: while teachers find the opportunity to get them out of the course. We should not forget to mention the loud noisy music that bus drivers love to share with students «the latter who suppose to have high and advanced education»; also we should introduce how rude songs are heard by mixed students (boys and girls). The other phenomenon which is taking large spread is stealing. So many people especially girls have lost their mobiles, purses and wallets, rings and even necklaces. So is it logic that all this is happening in university’s bus whereas it is rarely found elsewhere? There is another point which is very important to talk about and it shows how students are getting more and more degenerated: imagine inside a classroom or

• Lack of Security:Agents are the guardians of university who are responsible of providing security and safety inside for students and officers, but in fact their unwillingness to work is seen in their lack of activity. University is in a total mess, i.e. it has become a meadow where new lovers are having dates. These agents found at the gate of university; whose job or duty is to prevent strangers getting in by asking about the cards or IDs. By facing a crazy man or someone who’s not student at all reveals that agents are not taking their jobs seriously. PS: we saw Kika inside university this is the crucial example to the lack of security. All what is mentioned above is a simple idea and description about what we are always facing at university atmosphere. The rest is better to be hidden and ignored; the only thing that we ought to perform as level-headed people is doing effort just to solve a little amount of these problems that sometimes form an obstacle to carry on our studies. And in a way we can say that this is definitely affected by those who are not behaving seriously in their own domain.

Three profs from orient did come. West, to Tangier. Our visitors: three Algerian professors from the University of Guelma.Guelma, located in Algeria’s Far East, is about as far from Tangier as you can get in Algeria. The University’s name - 08 Mai 1945 - is a giveaway to its location, near the town of Setif, which on VE Day 1945 saw a massacre of Algerian nationalists demanding rights from the France they had just fought to defend. It was the spark that a decade later launched Algeria’s war for independence. It was thanks to a suggestion by a former director of our sister research center in Tunis that Professors Ladi Toulgui, Hamid Boudechiche, and Abdelhak Elaggoune, of the University’s American Studies program, sought out TALIM.Always on the lookout for networking opportunities, we set up an impromptu brainstorming session on inter-Maghrib exchanges and the use of TALIM’s research facilities by Moroccan, Algerian, and other scholars.Responding to the chance to interact with their Algerian colleagues was an impressive gathering of Moroccan and American academics, based in both Tangier and Tetouan. Familiar as they are with the Legation’s strengths and weaknesses, we wanted to hear from them where we could improve. Provide more research materials in Arabic

(one of our interlocutors, Dr. Mhammed Benabboud and his Asmir Association, has an entire library of cultural preservation titles). Reach out more to Tetouan, the half of Tangier/Tetouan’s Abdelmalek Essaadi University where there is more of a concentration of the disciplines - history, art, social sciences - that have resonance at TALIM.For us, the stress on inter-Maghrib exchange was a chance to encourage more Moroccan applicants for the AIMS Maghribi Grant program, which tends to see Morocco as a favored destination for Algerian, Tunisian, and other Maghribi scholars, but which has traditionally seen a disproportionately low number of Moroccan applications. In the case of the Algerian professors, it was the University of Guelma which sent them to Morocco, without the benefit of AIMS or other international grants. Guelma to Tangier, via Tunis - not the most direct route, but certainly an encouraging opening to the world of American Studies programs in the Maghrib, which should be a natural counterpart to study of the Maghrib by American scholars.

We thank Doctors Elaggoune, Boudechiche, and Toulgui for making the trek to Tangier and TALIM, but also for helping us focus on that rich area of potential collaboration, using one of our main strengths: our history, our building, and its original purpose.American studies at TALIM... at the historic Legation which saw the first overtures by Revolutionary-era America to the Arab and Muslim world. American studies with a difference: Maghribi scholars examining the long history of American involvement in Morocco and North Africa.Sometimes it takes outsiders looking in to shine a light on a potentially rich stream of research topics. TALIM welcomes Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Libyan, Mauritanian - and American! - researchers in American studies. We’ve got the stories - lots of them.

WORLD’S UPDATES

A Letter to No Addressee:

Dear Unknown,

Here I am taking my pen to write a couple of words which are inside my mind and I’d like to share them, may be they won’t be heard but I’m sure they will be read at least by few students, the reason behind my letter, of course not a letter of love nor asking for employment, it is about our recent-ly events some people look at this life as a game, when it is over it means simply death, but what comes after death, how is our conduct left ; no one can expect when will he die or how… or what is the reason that takes to his end, every day we miss someone whether we know him/her not, but it was a human being and we as survivors will feel sorry towards that…but how for those who are being killed for purpose..when Israel is bom-barding Palestine and kills a hundreds of innocent people without pity, it is obvious, they are enemies they don’t have the same religion neither the same language nor the same flag…but what for those who are being killed by their native armies among whom their neighbors or perhaps friends, how could a Muslim kill a Muslim, is it such easy?. Absolutely this is the most horrible thing. People stayed night and day seeking their freedom, one is playing the role of the tyrant lord and his other hands are occupied of filling their moneyboxes, while the other is preparing his luggage to go for an irreversible trip. He held their breath for 30 years but they kicked him out in 3o days, we may ask why they were silent during 3 decades, why did they hide their sharp voices, they lived nights at the middle of the day, every day the sun rises but they don’t see its rays. every single thing has its own starting point, how can these people got in revolt after a brave soul preferred death instead of negligence….Hence, what comes next ….many Machiavellian presidents are falling one after the other , as if we witness the same scenario of the ‘Domino Theory’. A forbidden action changed the Arabic world for some nations it lead them may be to future prosperity, commit suicide is a social phenomenon but in this case it has a positive reaction, an expensive price to get freedom, freedom of mind, a freedom of life, everything in this world happens for a reason of course it is manipulated but not by nature likewise others are suggesting. other nations are participating by their voices cause they know that their interests are by time going to disappear ….we don’t need Big Ben to see nor the freedom statue to take some photos as souvenirs but rather to see those 3 mil-lion Muslims kneeling a line behind the other covering by Arabs too but different in worshiping hand in hand even if they vary in religion, this is the most beautiful image ever ….. I and you hope to keep this relation tight in order to frighten those who think they own the world to show them that our strength is not artificial; who should know that we are as a nail whenever it is hit hardly it goes stronger

I and you are the new generation, in which everyone of us must take part to cope the streams of blood, I and you should participate to keep Islam spreads forth in the world, many Muslims babies are taking by force from their mom’s breast, they claim poverty but they have been snatched to be educated beneath Christianity or may be under another religion except Islam…All these cruel deeds or perhaps worse than that are hap-pening away from our eyes and even away from the camera but with conmen work can bring back a smile for those who are being tormented….. Yours faithfully Amina Seridi

“Freedom is gained only by blood” .Everyone agrees on that, it is obvious that when a nation raises a revolution they fight a colonizer who is choking their breath, killing their children and women, depriving them from human and civil rights and the most important is violating their lands.

But when the enemy to be fought is their own president and his corrupted government, everything turns upside down. News channels broadcast a total chaos, mess and destruction: citizens are killed under the order of their own president. This tyrannical person who clearly has lost his stability became completely paranoid and obsessed by power. Thinking that he gained the right to torture his people because “as he says”: it is the right thing to do in order to stop those “rats” who want to shake the stability of the mother land. For 42 years citizens bared his rule and mistakes but they could handle that no more. Is it so wrong to ask for change, for freedom and for a variety of options in life? Then why when young people gather in a peaceful demonstration, they find weapons and army waiting for them in the streets? Thousands of victims dead in one week, it is a real shame and scandal for a president who cares for nothing that he shows his face

on TV and orders people to stop violence!!Maybe he was watching another video tape when the news showed what was really happening out there. The country now is divided, each region is declaring its independence; tribes have already started to proclaim power and ruling. The east of the country including “Belghazi and Elbayda” is not under the president’s control anymore. Areas around the capital city are under the opposition control. Meanwhile, army; responding to his orders; attacks the west and surrounds the capital city in a desperate effort to defend the president, his family and government…Oups!! I mean what is left from the government; because most ministers quit their position like the minister of internal affairs, the minister of foreign affairs and many others to be named. The thing to be said now is contradicted with the previous lines: some military men refused to answer the orders of the insane leader to attack citizens in the daylight and also in the dead calms of nights. News report that two planes and two warships fled to Malta after their “disobedience”; or shall I say their “bravery”. They couldn’t bear the sense of guilt if they bombarded their brothers and sisters. Soldiers switched position and joined opposition against the president; they gave ammunition to the rebels. What I’m writing here may not seem more than flash news and statistics to the present status but what I want to emphasize here is: what will happen next? The whole area is threatened and the whole world’s reactions do not really confirm nor guarantee people’s security. “No formal decision until next week” this is the EU reaction

towards what’s happening there. Voices rise asking for investigation against inhumanity and the heavy fighting, but the question is: who is judging whom? People are getting desperate now; they suffer shortages in food, fuel and medical supplies, the thing which rises anxiety. Anxiety is not the appropriate word to describe the internal situation only; world economy is on the edge as well: oil production is decreased while its price is extremely high as a result of the unrest in the country.Nobody is sure about what will happen next, but fear and tension are at their heights stressing the fact that “Nothing Lasts Forever”. The crazy, tyrannical ruler will end up dead; not only by shame and insanity; but also literary DEAD (I say he’ll be shot in his head) just like he did to the 148 soldiers who refused to shoot fire on the citizens. 24/02/2011 At the end, I must say “What’s taken by force should be regained by force” and the blood of the martyrs is not lost in vein. Allah know what to do, and as their neighbors got their freedom and ** , this brave nation will be better soon, living in peace and democracy.

LITERATURE “White Night” part two “ no loneliness no sleeping by night any more; when all the creatures go to sleep we go to our secret place where there is only the moon and the stars, and the more there are more jealous stars the more I am grateful for being with him. Times goes on and our love grows more and more… I didn’t even want to see him in reality it just bothers me if he passes beside me, he was better at night, in my dreams he was my lover, he touches me, kisses me and makes me feel that I own the world. In reality he was cruel and cold, he didn’t even notice my existence, but that’s fine I loved the way he looked in my dream and I didn’t want any thing more. That was my plan from the beginning, you remem-ber? “

She stopped for a while and took a deep breath; I know that she went far with her mind. She was enjoying her memories…or her dreams, whatever they are they must be beautiful …more beautiful that what the reality can deal with. “…everything is like what was planed to be, I am having a great times and no one; even him; knows about that. I am often on that hill waiting for my beloved to show…and one day; it was a very ordinary day; he showed in my way and I didn’t care. He came across me and I didn’t care either, but he spelt words I didn’t recognize, I think he wondered where he saw me before, his lips were moving but I couldn’t understand and I didn’t tried to…I mean why would I want to do such a thing: I have him in my dream, I have him like I can never have him any more. I didn’t see any need to be with him that moment, I don’t remember a word we had said in that conversation but I know it was short because one of us had to leave; I think it was me…or him I don’t remember, the point is I recog-nized that I didn’t want him to be more than a dream, a fantasy. Although I kept meeting him by night, I didn’t give up on my dream; in fact; I preferred it than the reality because in the reality he will crush me down, wouldn’t he?” “The next time we met I wasn’t really interested, I simply turned around looking for my bag to leave when all of a sudden, he choke my hand asking when he can see me again, I stood there astonished I couldn’t move a static, I wasn’t thinking about his question, I was…his hand…his hand was cold…in my dream it was warm, what that suppose to mean? I didn’t answer, I ran with no place to go, I only wished the night comes soon…The time seemed long but the night always comes, I went in a hurry to that hill, I waited but he didn’t come neither the moon showed: only the stars making fun of me.” “I opened my eyes in that night; I didn’t do that since I started dreaming about him, there was nothing in the dis-tance but the darkness. I tried so hard to shut my eyes and come back to my dream maybe he shows this time but my eyes didn’t obey my will, at that moment I knew that this darkness is the grave of my dream and I passed the rest of the night grieving upon my dream. By the daylight, I went to blame him for his misdeed, he let my dream go, it’s then when I found him flirting another girl he was wondering where he saw her before. At that time I became sure about what he said first time we met and I knew also that he is dirty to be the reality of my dream, and I wasn’t upset or may be I was grieved upon my dream that I couldn’t bear any more sorrow.” She stopped to take breath; she stopped for a long time…she talked no more.

In that night I lost her, I closed a period in my life, but there are always memories that will last till the end, and like she died for my dream I will carry her in my heart. For me she was and she will stay like a dream that comes at nights and goes by nights. But these nights are not dark any more; they are while; white like her dream.

STUDENTS’ CORNER

With the differences between men and women stacking up, it is perhaps no surprise to many that men and women communicate and listen in different ways. But what precisely are the differences between the genders? And is it possible to use these differences to your advantage? Being aware of how best to communicate with your partner is a good way to improve your relationship and ensure that you are both coming away from a conversation on the same page. Similarly, an understanding of how best to communicate will aid you in various walks of life, including work, friendship and family life. When it comes to listening, men and women both work in different ways. Men have a natural aptitude for problem solving, and this comes across in the way that they take in information. Men listen by thinking of ways they can make a decision and solve the problem. As a result, they are very quick to make decision and work forwards. By contrast, women listen to information by making a mental note of the context of the problem and data points. This allows women to use their collected points of reference to form various solutions to the problem before settling on a desired course of action. This can make them slower than men to come to a solution. If men are more interested in the solution, women are more interested in the journey to the solution. In conversation, women will often include more details in what they say. This can include memories, their emotions, or encouragement to others to do the same. Women conversing together tend to have conversations

with more layers and depth than men, with each woman adding more depth to a topic. On the other hand, men tend to have much simpler conversations, which can often appear clearer than a woman’s conversation. Men tend to have more focused conversations without much detail, and often the length of their points are shorter. Men tend to display their intellect in conversation. When communicating with the opposite sex, it is worth bearing these differences in mind and trying to work with them rather than against them. For example, as a women talking to a man, it is worth trying to make your point clear and to the point. If you are making a large and complicated point, break it down into chunks that he can fully understand before moving onto your next point. While women find it easy to follow large statements, a man may find that he is overwhelmed

and struggle to remember everything you were saying. Also make sure that you do not interrupt him. Men talking to women should bear in mind that women respond well to your emotional reactions. If she is making what you feel to be a long and complicated point, try to follow it rather than breaking it down for her. Try not to solve her problems for her, but instead try to focus on the emotional aspect of what she is communicating and connect with that instead. These techniques can take a while to master, as unconscious conversation techniques take time and effort to alter, but it is worth bearing in mind that making an effort to speak the other gender’s language can make a real difference in your communication with them. Below are some jokes about the the two genders in order to break some of the tension.

Differences between Men and WomenDo men and women speak the same language? Can they ever

really communicate?

Men, you may think you have a command of the English language, but when it comes to communicating with women, you are up for a big big surprise !!!!!.

The Real Definition of Words When Used By Women 1. Fine - I am right. This argument is over. You need to shut up. 2. That’s Okay - One of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. “That’s okay” means she wants to think hard and long before deciding when and how you’ll pay for your mistake. 3. Nothing - The calm before the storm. This means “Something” and you better be on your toes. Note: Arguments that start with “Nothing” usually end with “Fine” (See #1). 4. Five Minutes - If getting dressed, this means half an hour. (Don’t be mad about this. It’s the same definition for you when it’s your turn to do some chores around the house.)5. Thanks - A woman is thanking you. Do not question this or faint. Just say, “You’re welcome,” and let it go. 6. Loud Sigh - Not actually a word but rather a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. It means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is standing here wasting her time arguing with you about “Nothing.” (See #3) 7. Go Ahead - This is a dare, not permission. (Don’t Do It!) 8. Don’t worry about it, I got it - The second most dangerous statement a woman can make. It means that a woman has asked a man several times to do something and is now doing it herself. (This will result in you asking at a later date, “What’s wrong?” For the woman’s response, see #3.)

JOKES - DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMAN

MoneyA man will pay $10 for a $5 item he needs.A woman will pay $5 for a $10 item that she doesn’t need, because it’s on sale.ArgumentsWomen always have the last word in an argument. Anything a man adds after that is the beginning of a new argument.FutureA woman worries about the future -- until she gets a husband.A man never worries about the future -- until he gets a wife.SuccessA successful man is one who makes more money than can be spent by his wife.A successful woman is one who can find that a man.MarriageA woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn’t.A man marries a woman expecting that she won’t change, and she does.ChildrenA woman knows all about her children. She knows about their best friends, romances, secret hopes and dreams, favorite foods, fears and dental appointments.A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

Time, a thing we must accept, the unexpected. I sometimes fear, why couldn’t I turn back time? So, I could avoid the pain I went through. Time, so slow for who awaits, so fast for who calculates, too long for who is in pain, too short for who celebrates, endless suffering is what you pay for not respecting time. It’s so painful to stand in front of the mirror, watching yourself but cannot recognize, shouting with your highest voice, cannot be heard, feeling so useless and cannot overcome, you start giving up every thing you need in the name of getting rid the pain.So painful to shake hands you know how dirty really are, to smile in someone’s face you wish never see him again, to bend downwards, just humiliated by the storm in order to not pull you off from your place. So painful to be with people you are obliged to live with, to raise your head and find dwarfs are taller now than you, to close your eyes on a sweet dream just to wake up on a painful unworthy delusion. I came here to escape with my past, but it keeps catch me up everywhere, drowning in dreams of a misguided hope, to lit up a candle under the water and find myself running out from barren thoughts to a burning cage of thoughtlessness inside the ocean and realizing that there is no escape from reality. So let my emotions flow free like water runs in a stream, as I decide never to let what passed in the past ruining my future, understanding from this chaos; life is a twisted maize of obstacles and

time is a decisive element, as it could cause wounds, it could heal them as well.

D. OUS

…the slogan of nowadays, every one search about satisfying “me», what will happen to “me», will “I” succeed if I do so…doesn’t matter if it will be on the account of the others,The most important “I” did it and “I” have a relaxing result, or listen “I” can do you a favor (with an inner but that whispers to his\her desire that this won’t harm “me” even it costs for you) What’s that am I saying a mess??...actually yea we’re living a mess, we started to realize that the innocence is taking away

from a lot of people, being helpful or merciful lacks the real will of doing a coveted task, of courseWithout reward with charity, with love without envy, with a smile without jittering, with brotherhood without who you are!!(Arrogance is a sign to show how freaky and weak you are) we have to wake up and look a bit around.Selfishness is killing the pure “helpful” part that we must share with those in need, all the blame we put on time…no shame about the honest latter but on “us”.

The phenomenon that invaded the minds is hurting without caring, leaving with no sense, speaking without thinking…all these will hurt you because the most painful is to be nobody to anybody; yea all the concerns are about how will I pay back?!!,I must take revenge who ever you are:close, mate, colleague, friend, feel..live and gain back what you’ve done ..But NO stop and think twice ,just try to do so because you can’t be heartless, merciless, helpless, careless and especially “rude” Each one has an inner flower that lacks irrigation, of course you can’t allow yourself to stay thirsty.. So let that pretty smell spread all over you and your deeds and be as ADAM SMITH said:<<to feel much for others and little for ourselves; to restrain our selfishness and exercise our benevolent affections, constitute the perfection of human nature>> Imen Ben merad

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only way you ought to do, make your attitude and put your rules, and advise get off people’s nose, follow your way and draw your path so that no one can tear you apart ,live your life and leave your tears .Be in life as the coffee drinker enjoy its taste even if it is dark, you will find a thin line between life and death just feelings between laugh and cry , this is life when you get a chance take it if it changes your life let it hold tight this life it’ll bring you good things ,life is too short and believe that everything happens for a reason, nobody said it would be easy but it is sweet and it will be sweeter with your smile then just smile and let smiling your only choice to win your life….

Aqua Mina

Attitude You will be great when you smile for people who give you their back, love who hate you, hug who envy you, bring life for desperate, be a friend of your enemy, be kind with whom have offended you and never regret yourself, you will find some people rate you, some of them break you but don’t worry that’s what will make you and someday they will find out who you really are….

MusicThank you for the music, Thanks for all the joy they’re bringingWho can live without it, I ask in all honestyWhat would life be?Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the musicFor giving it to meMother says I was a dancer before I could walkShe says I began to sing long before I could talkAnd I’ve often wondered, how did it all start?Who found out that nothing can capture a heartLike a melody can?Well, whoever it was, I’m a fan.

I don’t feel like you’re special to meNot like what you used to beI used to fly when I see you and feel safetyNow I don’t, even I feel emptyI’m so glad that we’re doneAnd for you I don’t have to runAfter this love I made a quick recoveryAnyway you’ll still in my history

I thought you’ll always reassure my soul But you did nothing, actually not at allI weren’t just into you but so crazyIf you crawl to my heart it will say I’m busyWithout you I’m happy and delightfulI’m fed up with being such unfaithfulSo I won’t involve myself anymoreAnd you will never be the one who I adore

Almost happened….But Glad it didn’t

You’re out of my listYou’re out of my lifeYou’ll never be missedTurned black was my life. You got your chance But never did so wellLet me swim in the endless sea of thoughts.I’ve never thought myself to be that foolFalling in love with you was indeed that fool,I know we can’t control our feelingsBut still; being stupid is controllableIt was in my hand to stop that messThough I chose to take a riskThat risk which almost broke me downAlmost turned my bright candle offAlmost changed my view of lifeAlmost transformed me to another person; Another person that I was glad to be But without you by her side better not to For that person doesn’t exist without you. I really lost whole part of meBut I’m glad I didn’t lose my dear “me” “Me” who is a good personWith a lovely heart“Me” who is always hopefulHow not if my name was that:“H” for Hopes, “O” for “over protective”“P” for “Proud”, “E” for “enthusiastic”And “S” for “Successful”This is how things should beLife is rose like a dreamStill my feelings flow like a stream…

How it’s beautiful when you think that we are all a living creature, walks, laughs, wipes, fears, plays... eats in order to live How it looks sad when you see a man missed his feet to touch the earth or a mother’s tears or children’s fearsSo sad when you see a child forbidden to play or people starving to death It looks bad when you see a man practices his cruelty on another manhow it looks far the truth as it looks so distant How many lies a man must bear in his mind to be able to say the truthHow many hands must be gathered to do one single action? How many dreams a man must dream to achieve one of themHow many tears the eye must bleed to make the heart satisfiedWe’re living reality; we see all but reality,Things fall apartDreams flew aboveCry reached the skyBut ears not yetTears flooded the eye But hearts not yet Speak no moreOn what the eyes look atSpeak no moreOn what the ears hear to Let the truth does soThough, has no tongue yet...

A story never told

Have you ever heard a story ends where it begins? My consciousness slips away, I finally start to living when it becomes too late, I ask a question searching for evidence, the answer has been right in front of me, but I stumble many times to find the reasonable clues. In a moment of clarity, I close my eyes and sink within myself, I find out was moving in circles, balancing devilish Spirits, purifying them each time they resist me for life. Every second I swim inside the emptiness, always against the Tide, brought from a wild wind of dreadful screams, I see her ghost in the faded fog captured by the dawn, shadows

grow more and more, innocent phantoms reappear for merciless crimes, to those who pretend Feeling blue in the red side, bitter life always leads men to the field of injuries. It’s not supposed to feel this way, But our fate, destiny is an open gate for he who thinks stronger.

When you think of my writings in your multidimensional mind and subconsciously analyze my personality patterns, try to wash the evil from your mind and open it, when you taste the truth, you will realize the anguish through the story I’ve never told, you may think you own the end, take a close look at the script of sadness carved inside my head. When, A devil in a human skin Smeared with a fake smilePenetrated her sinless lifeSteal every cheerful momentTook her innocence awayAnd bade her farewell *************Filled with fear and shameAfraid from the others blameDeath became her aimA stream of stinging tearsCooled out of her eyesScorpions became her mind’s voiceOn the edge of a bridgeShe put an end to her agony…

STUDENT’ CORNER

I’ve never felt so rushed, time passed quickly, the clock was running tick tock; tick tock: time is over and I haven’t finished writing my answers yet! That is the scene which kept repeating itself for the past two weeks. I think many students share this idea with me; the questions were too complicated and long while time was the student’s enemy. Read, think, write in the drafts, organize, re-read and re-write in the answering paper……those tasks may seem easy and quickly done but in fact they are not, they are time-consuming. As everybody knows English tests require intelligence and concentration, but when the clock is running against your thoughts flow here you’d mess everything. Personally I was obliged to write randomly and unconsciously, I had to erase some statements and sentences, and I never had a chance to revise my answers….All that because time is not enough and the two hours are already over! That’s why, and by the name of most the department students, I am asking teachers and administration to give us half an hour additional to the regular time (2hours). This step would guarantee a better answers and organization during the exam. Amel Zeroulou

Half an hour would make a difference

I miss youBridge

Yesterday has already goneLeaving me out of focus

Voices tell me I should be strongBut I’m starting feeling hopeless

Refrain cause i miss you

Like the dark nights missing the sunAnd I need you

Like a mixed puzzle need to be doneI swear I miss you

Just like a candle missing the flameYes I miss you

I’m hurt but….I can take the blameBridgeAnd I’m trying hard to let it go

Forget the past and move on slowBut I can’t help feeling this wayIt’s killing

me though…….causeRefrain

Cause I miss youLike the dark nights missing the sun And I need you

Like a mixed puzzle need to be doneI swear I miss you

Just like a candle missing the flameYes I miss you

I’m hurt but….I can take the blame
