various concept and problem solving methods in thermodynamics
and fluid mechanics. Topics discussed are basic concept of

fluids statics and dynamics, dimensional analysis and similarity.

Synopsis
In this subject the students will be exposed to the various
aerodynamic effects and force exerted on aircraft during flight,
the general aircraft wing sections on how to obtain lift, drag and
pitching moment. Students will also be equipped with the
knowledge of aircraft flight conditions, equilibrium, the effects of
aerodynamic and propulsive controls on equilibrium and
disturbance conditions. Moreover, the students will also be taught
on the significance of flight stability and its impact of aircraft
operations and pilot workload, the meaning of aerodynamic
stability derivatives, their sources, the effects of aerodynamic
derivatives on flight stability and the impact of flight stability. The
student will have a good appreciation of high speed flow about an
aerofoil and compressible flow through a duct of varying cross
section during transonic, sonic and supersonic flight.

This course covers the basic and immediate level of aircraft
structure as per standard guidelines of maintenance practices and
approved maintenance manuals. It includes the introduction to
the aircraft structural design, classifications, and structural

destructive testing and painting. It also includes the defect
recognition, defect inspection, defect evaluation and repair if
necessary as per standard maintenance practices.

Synopsis
Strength of Materials is a basic engineering course and is a branch
of applied mechanics that deals with the behavior of solid bodies
subjected to various types of loading. The solid bodies considered
in this course include axially members, shaft in torsion, thin
shells. Beams, and columns, as well as structure that are
assemblies of these components. Usually the objectives of
strength of materials analysis are determination of the stresses,
strains, and displacements, produced by the loads. Knowing these
quantities for all values of load up to failure load gives a complete
picture of the mechanical behavior of the body. The course
includes a laboratory where students have an opportunity to build
an appreciation for the phenomenon being discussed in lecture.
