IT is overstretched and under leveraged.• Infrastructure complexity is

increasing, with 50% of companies using five or more tools to monitor their IT, while 14% use more 20 or more.*

• Almost half (49%) of IT operations waste more that 20% of their operational resources to track and correct problems.*

As a result, the vast majority of IT budgets are dedicated to “just keeping the lights on” and “firefighting”, while only a small portion goes towards innovation.

Mobility drives productivity – but also complexity.

Collaboration is driven by mobile workers across office sites and within them.

But empowering employees with that kind of flexibility complicates infrastructure – and security.

To drive customer loyalty and revenue, organizations need to deploy engagement tactics, such as mobile apps.

Apps can also drastically increase productivity within an office, helping employees navigate their way to meeting rooms or keep better track of project workflow.

Unfortunately, IT is too busy “keeping the lights on”– and their app development platforms aren’t efficient enough.

Therefore, deploying mobile apps is also crucial

Hypothetical case analysis: Business Wi-Fi

21 | Rogers Cloud Services

Challenge

• Legacy wireless was unreliable and difficult to manage remotely across the country.

• Employees recently received new laptops, which could take advantage of higher performing Wi-Fi. The lack of such Wi-Fi would only further frustrate employees.

Solution

• Rogers deployed new 802.11ac access points, with new Gigabit LAN hardware, and a cloud-managed firewall with next-gen intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems to secure the business.

• Rogers monitors and manages all network elements, including adding capacity in minutes when needed, throttling bandwidth, blocking suspicious applications and more.

Large architecture firm with nationwide presence

Result

• Rogers Managed Wi-Fi as a Service unified the network on one dashboard and manages for the firm WAN, LAN and wireless LAN all in one outsourced, cost-effective solution.

Page 22: Managed Wi-Fi as a Service_Customer Presentation_FINAL

Challenge

• The theatre wanted free guest Wi-Fi for the annual, three-day film festival, providing media schedules, show times, event info and info about past winners.

• The thick walls, high ceilings, and density of patrons in the 100-year-old theatre made designing a new network difficult for the IT team.

Hypothetical case analysis: Guest Wi-Fi

22 | Rogers Cloud Services

Historical theatre

Page 23: Managed Wi-Fi as a Service_Customer Presentation_FINAL

Solution

• Rogers combined a mix of high-performing indoor and outdoor access points to ensure superior coverage.

• Rogers set up three service set identifiers (SSIDs), which allow users to access different networks through a single access point. These networks include a private network for employees, one for ticketing, and one for guests.

• Rogers also installed a next-gen firewall with intrusion prevention and intrusion detection systems as well as content filtering.

Result

• Theatre now has widespread, reliable Wi-Fi for guests and employees. Guests can also use either Facebook or SMS texting to access the guest Wi-Fi.

• Over the three days of the festival, the Wi-Fi network transferred 500 GB of data to more than 4,000 users. 50% of that data was on the guest Wi-Fi network alone, and more than 1,400 users downloaded the festival app.

• Attendees could use iPads and other mobile devices securely to watch live streams, check email, tweet and upload photos and videos via their phones.

Hypothetical case analysis: Mobile Experiences (retail)

24 | Rogers Cloud Services

Challenge

• A national sports store chain wanted to know how long shoppers stay in their stores, and they wanted to uncover traffic patterns in order to optimize store layouts and staff schedules.

• The chain also wanted to transform the shopping experience with personalized engagement tactics, and they wanted to drive customer convenience and sales with a mobile app.

National sports store chain

Page 25: Managed Wi-Fi as a Service_Customer Presentation_FINAL

Solution

• Rogers implemented a managed guest Wi-Fi network with six access points (APs). Each AP includes an embedded Bluetooth beacon and a Mobile Experience license. The network also included a cloud-managed firewall with intrusion prevention and detection systems.

• Rogers designed a Wi-Fi + Bluetooth experience based on location awareness for personalized engagement and increased adoption of the chain’s native mobile app.

• The solution also includes app-based mobile payment and integration with the chain’s product database.

Hypothetical case analysis: Mobile Experiences (retail)

25 | Rogers Cloud Services

Result

• The chain can now determine where people spend time, view traffic patterns and differentiate between new and repeat visitors.

• The chain uses these data to optimize store layouts and staffing needs.

• Their native mobile app has seen higher adoption rates, which has translated into enhanced customer experiences with personalized messaging.

• Mobile payment and product database integration has led to faster customer service and shorter queue times.

National sports store chain

Page 26: Managed Wi-Fi as a Service_Customer Presentation_FINAL

Hypothetical case analysis: Mobile Experiences (corporate)

26 | Rogers Cloud Services

Challenge

• Many employees struggled to access the organization’s VPN from home, which meant many couldn’t get work done outside of the office, particularly when stuck in the city’s notorious rush hour gridlock.

• Wi-Fi was also disparately accessible across the organization’s various office sites across the city.

• Employee engagement and morale was tanking.

Regional municipality

Page 27: Managed Wi-Fi as a Service_Customer Presentation_FINAL

Solution

• Rogers replaces the municipality’s aging WLAN infrastructure, installing and configuring next-generation Wi-Fi hardware in each office site and manages it from the cloud.

• Leveraging consultation services from Rogers, the municipality’s IT personnel – no longer bogged down by “firefighting” – created a powerful mobile experience using Rogers Rapid Application Development Platform that allowed employees to quickly book meeting rooms, navigate visitors on Guest Wi-Fi and access their private network storage. It even told them what was for lunch in the cafeteria.

Hypothetical case analysis: Mobile Experiences (corporate)

27 | Rogers Cloud Services

Result• Using the app, employees can securely and

seamless access their private files from home or in any of the municipality’s office sites.

• Employees can securely access their Intranet over any Wi-Fi or cellular connection on any device. without needing a VPN to the corporate network

• Able to work anytime, anywhere on any device, employees are measured on output rather than hours worked. Employees are happier, more engaged and get more done because they’re no longer sitting in gridlock.
