*Research
*How many staff will you need in October and Why
*How many do you need to recruit and when
*Planning
*What do we need to know?
Known / Knowns Known / Un-knowns
Un-known / Knowns Un-known / Un-knowns
*Finding what we need
*Time to decide
*What else could we do?
*Sunk cost
* - a cost incurred in the past that should not be considered in the decision making process
* eg change of use request costs that have time lapsed, management costs that you would incur anyway
*Opportunity cost
* - what you are giving up by using resources in a certain way
* eg using the land for an alternative use, placing any cash resource needed on bank deposit
*Time line
*Time value of Money concept
*Money now is worth more than money in a years time.
*Why?
*Because inflation will erode the buying power of the money
*Eg If I have £10.00 today and the price of a white sliced loaf is £1 I can buy 10 loaves. If inflation is 5% how many loaves can I buy this time next year for the same £10? How many in 5 years time?
*Critical path
*For all projects there are particular events that if they don’t happen slow or even bring to a halt the whole thing.
*Critical Path analysis is a tool to identify which tasks have to happen in sequence and which can happen in parallel
*Eg our blue recruitment timetable is a simple critical path
*Need for staff
*Mind map
*What are the known/Unknows?
*Decision Tree
*Is it worth it?
