But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
But Peter and James replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.
Acts 4:19-20
Soul winners are not soul winners because of what we know, but because of Who we know, how well we know Him, and how much we long for others to know Him.”
Dawson Trotman
Jesus has given us, the church, the wonderful privilege of sharing the Good News about Him to a lost world.
The testimony of a changed life flowed out of our spiritual ancestors hearts into every day living, touching everyone they had the opportunity to influence.
We are the light of the world, but our light
has grown dim. We are the salt of the earth, but we have become
flavorless.
We are called to impact and transform this world, so how are we doing? How do you feel about the fact that only 5% of Christians ever share their faith.
You shall be my witnesses. The word “martus” translated “witness” appears 13 times in the New Testament. The Greek root word denotes, “one who can or does confidently assert what he or she has seen, heard or knows.”
The transition from being lame to leaping provided a literal “walking witness” or testimony of what God had done for him.
Acts 4:23-31,33
Great power and abundant grace were the benefits and blessings of being faithful witnesses for Christ.
The word “power” in the Greek is “dunamis”. Dunamis is supernatural power or energy that God provides to get the witnessing job done.
Acts 1:8
Spiritual power for witnessing was promised by the Father and provided through the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:11John 7:37-39Luke 24:45-49
Power and obedience are connected to one another, when we are obedient, we experience the power of God through the Holy Spirit.
Have you obeyed God by receiving and being filled with the Holy Spirit?
Are you obeying God by actively witnessing for Him in the power of the Holy Spirit?
