“It is I. Be not afraid.” The Lord does not say much, but these few words help us to meet Jesus when our life seems to be tossed upside down. “Be not afraid” are words that Saint John Paul II used many times. Some people may only turn towards the Lord when they find themselves in times of trouble. This does not mean that we should not approach Jesus when we find ourselves in the deepest trials of our life. Whether we have been faithful or forgetful of the Lord in the past, we can still turn to Jesus in our time of trouble. It is at that moment that we make that act of faith. Whether it occurs in a moment of despair or whether it occurs in a moment of trustful turbulence, we can beg Jesus to help us. Whether it be the ark of the Church or whether it be the boat of our own personal life, Jesus is there, ready to bring us peace, ready to receive our faith.

In the Catholic Church, adults who want to become Catholic or complete the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Communion, Confirmation) join a program called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Participants in the program meet weekly for instruction, prayer, and sharing of the Scripture. Parish Choir sings for the 11:30 am Mass each Sunday, Christmas Midnight Mass, the Easter Vigil, and for other feast days and special liturgies throughout the year. The Choir’s repertoire covers the entire range of Catholic sacred music. All are welcome. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 7:30 - 9:00 pm, beginning on Thursday, September 7, 2017. [Contemporary Choir sings on Saturday evenings at the 5:30 pm Mass from September to June, and for Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, and other feast days. [Young People’s Choir sings for the 9:30 am Mass every 2nd and 4th Sunday from September to June, for Christmas, Easter, and other liturgical feasts. Adult FAith FormAtion

This Fall, for Adult Faith Formation we will do a 7-session video series entitled David the King. This series is from Bishop Robert Barron (Archdiocese of Los Angeles).

Experience how the whole New Testament opens up once we see it through the person of David. Unlike Adam, the first and failed king, King David orders his kingdom according to the mind and purposes of God. But being imperfect, David stumbles. Yet God does not abandon his people, but promises to send a “son of David” to be the perfect king, whose reign will never end.

Our plan at All Saints is to show these episodes in the Activities Center this Fall, on particular Mondays. Deacon

educacIón RelIgIosa PaRa nIños

Fin de Semana de Registraciones. El personal de Educación Religiosa estará disponible en las siguientes fechas y horarios para inscribir a niños y adolescentes en las clases de Religión. Nota: El personal de Educación Religiosa estará ubicado en el edificio de la Escuela para las inscripciones; ¡Asegúrese de detenerse después de la misa!

• Sábado 26 de agosto después de misa de 5:30 pm

• Domingo 27 de agosto después de todas las Misas

Las familias tienen opción también de obtener un formulario en la oficina de Educación Religiosa, o recoge uno en el vestíbulo de la iglesia o bajar uno formulario de nuestra página web www.AllsAintsreligiouseDucAtion.org.

Entrenamiento de Voluntarios. A todos los voluntarios catequistas se les pide que asistan a un entrenamiento a principios de año. Todas las sesiones serán a las 7:00 pm en Fr. Kelley Wing. Los entrenamientos se llevaran a cabo en las siguientes fechas.

SPRED (Clases de Educación Religiosa Especiales). Clases de Educación Religiosa Especiales es un programa diseñado para apoyar y dar servicio a los Niños con Autismo, Síndrome de Down, u otras necesidades especiales. Esta clase se reúne 12 veces por año el día sábado de 0:00 Am - 12:00 noon. El Departamento de Educación Religiosa está aceptando inscripciones para niños de la escuela primaria y niños de la secundaria, edades 6-15. Necesitamos Catequistas y Asistentes. El Departamento de Educación Religiosa necesita varios catequistas y asistentes para enseñar clases de Educación Religiosa.
