Look out for Dennis, Gnasher and the rest of the gang making their way
to Manchester Libraries for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge –
Mischief Makers.
If you’re 4 to 11 years old, you can sign up and collect stickers, fun
giveaways and a certificate by reading library books over the summer
holiday. It’s free to borrow books and take part. You can read whatever
kinds of books you like – you don’t have to stick to a list or read what
the teacher tells you! Find out how you can Bee a Reader with Read
Manchester too, and take part in the Bee a Reader Challenge.
You can also visit the Summer Reading Challenge website at mischief-makers.org.uk to find out about great books you might want to read,
play games and more!
This year we also have a mini-challenge for the under-4s, so all the
family can get involved and get the reading bug.
The Reading Challenge is supported by over 200 activities in libraries
over the summer holidays. You can also find all the activities listed in
this booklet by visiting manchester.gov.uk/summerreadingchallenge

WIN WIN WIN!We love to reward you for reading, and this year’s no different!Every time you read six books, you’ll be
entered into our prize draw to win a bike
(worth up to £100). Each library will also
have goody-bag winners and special prizes.
You could also win prizes for your primary
school too. Schools are being invited to get
involved – could your school be the one
with the most Summer Reading Challenge
finishers? Ask your friends to join up and
make sure your school is the one winning
the prizes. The top prize is an author
visiting your school for a whole day.
MINI-CHALLENGE FOR UNDER-4SThis year, under-4s can also get
involved by joining the mini-
challenge. The idea’s the same –
read six books and be entered into
a prize draw to win a goody bag.
We’ve also got some activities just
