ASIET Milestones:-

The ASIET was inaugurated on August 31st 2001 by then Chief Minister of Kerala Sree A. K. Antony. It

has started 4 branches of engineering Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Information

Technology & Electrical & Electronics with 180 students as the first batch. By the year 2002 AICTE has

enhanced the students intake to 240. ASIET is the first new generation engineering college which has

acquired ISO certification in Quality Management by 2003. In 2004 the college has launched the first

national cultural and technical festival called “Brahma”. By middle of 2004 the college has started its new

course in MBA with first batch intake of 60 students. The ASIET has conducted a national conference in

Management “ Sankara Darshan”, which was inaugurated by Dr. M. B. Athreya, Management Guru.. The

first batch of engineering has come out in the year 2005 with excellent academic results under M.G.

University with five university ranks and 85% pass percentage. In the first batch itself the unique record

of placements of 85% was achieved in various Multi National Companies like Infosys, Oracle etc. The

college was proud of the visit of His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam then president of India who had

an interaction with students of the college. In 2005 it has started a new branch in Engineering - Applied

Electronics & Instrumentation. The ASIET has started a full fledged state of the art, infrastructure for

Mechanical Engineering branch in the same year. In 2007 AICTE has approved additional intake of 60

students in Electronics & Communication. In the same year the campus became wire free. In 2006

ASIET has started Campus Connect program with Infosys, Bangalore. In 2008 TCS has given

accreditation for the college. In 2008 college has conducted free computer literacy program for people in

Kalady Panchayth. In 2009 the college has implemented various innovations projects which was

demonstrated to Dr. A. Shivathanu Pillai, MD of Brahmos. ASIET has started water harvesting projects

in the campus. Under innovative project program “multi utility vehicle” designed by Mechanical

Engineering students was first of its kind. In 2010 M-Tech Computer Science was started with first batch

of 18 students. The college is proud to announce that the Research Centre in Computer Science was

inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 13th October 2010. It has also achieved 5 university ranks in

2010 with 85% pass percentage.

About the Institution:-

Guided by the great vision of Sree Jagadguru Adi Shankara, Adi Shankara Institute of

Engg.& Technology(ASIET) started at Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankara, in the year

2001. Located just five Kilometers from the Cochin International Airport, ASIET boasts a

serene academic atmosphere in an idyllic environment.11 batches of students have passed out

from the College till date and occupy responsible positions in prestigious organizations in India

and abroad. Affiliated to M.G.University, Kottayam, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological

RESEARCH CENTRE ACTIVITIES

SHANKARA RESEARCH CENTRE IN INFORMATION SCIENCE the Research centre of

CSE Dept was inaugurated by Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam (Ex President of India)on Oct

2009.The centre focuses on the following areas-Information Security ,Data mining and Image

processing. The PG students and staff of the centre in collaboration with external research

scholars, organize various seminars, presentations of research papers in national and

international conferences and do research projects. Some of the research projects being carried

out in Information security are as follows:

1. Network forensic Investigation of HTTPS Protocol

2. SQL injection prevention for stored procedure.

The centre in association with various research organization like C-DAC Trivandrum, IIIT-TVM

and IT companies like Infosys, TCS etc to develop various software and tools. The centre also

provides consultancy & training in the area of Information security, Data Mining, Business

Intelligence etc. The centre is presently being executed a cloud computing facility to do research

projects in the area of security in cloud computing. The centre is fully equipped with higher end

networking and computing infrastructures with digital, libraries, E-Books, E-Journals etc.

Various development tools, including hacking tools has been carried out in association with IIT

Gorakhpur and training is provided to students in areas of Information security on a regular

basis.

Placement Cell

The Placement cell of ASIET is constituted under the dynamic leadership of Dr.Santharam Rao who

provide the right perspective regarding the various career options available to the students and

sufficiently train them to choose and pursue their careers of choice. Given the clutter of career

options available and prevalent group tendencies amongst students, placement cell of ASIET

believes that expert guidance can help students in streamlining their energy towards their chosen

carrier paths. The training program encompasses a three stage process to train the students to

make them ready for the industry and develop the etiquettes of the corporate world.

BOYS’ HOSTEL

Adi Shankara College provides separate hostel facilities for the Frist Year Students which can

accommodate more than 300 students. A maximum of 3 students are accommodated in each

room. There are separate reading rooms in each floor which is apart from a common room

provided for watching television.

There is a shuttle badminton court, football court and a table tennis table attached to boys’ hostel

where the students can practice games and do body building exercises. Each floor has a resident

The college canteen is a vibrant hub of activity for daily

meals and student gatherings. Eating together is an important part of college life and also an

modern on-site gym has been made available for the

students. Treadmills, weightlifting, cardio equipments

TRANSPORTATION:-

In a way vehicles are the brand wagons of ASIET and they

ease daily commuting problems of the students. The well

maintained transport system is handled promptly by expert

and experienced staffs. Vehicles reach every nook and corners

of the district.

ANTI-RAGGING CELL:-

Ragging Free Campus Being a strong social issue, college

council gives immense care an effective Anti Ragging Cell

formed on the Leadership of our Principal, sticking on to the

stipulations of M. G. University.

Power & Backup:-

College has two on-camps indoor diesel powered generator of

100kVA and 320kVA capacities which ensures uninterrupted

power supply on the campus.

IT Infrastructure:-

We have more than 700 computers and 11 servers in the

campus and all of these are connected across a single LAN.

All the computers are in Hence staff and students can access

their data at any lab at any time during working hours.
