The ISHRAE SXCCE CHAPTER was inaugurated on 26-06-2009.The club has 56 student
members and 5 staff members. The major objective of this chapter is to impart Education in the
fields of Air-Conditioning, Refrigeration and Allied Sciences by conducting Training Courses,
Workshops and Seminars.

Accordingly, a one day seminar on „Recent Development in Cryogenics‟ was organized by
this chapter for Mechanical Engineering Students on 28th of august 2010. Mr. A. Narayanan
Manager (Thrust Chamber Testing) ISRO Mahindragiri, delivered the lecture.
In order to give onsite exposure to its members, an Industrial visit has been
arranged in Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research Kalpakkam for final year
mechanical engineering students.

Electros is the professional association of the department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering, which organize Conference/symposium, Technical talk and Industrial Visit.
Our Staff members are life members of ISTE and our students actively participate in IEEE student
chapter.

Report
The activity of MEGX for the academic year 2010 -2011 was inaugurated and the new office bearers
took charge on 13th October, 2010.
To nurture the budding talents of school students, we conducted district level competition to promote
science in association with Tamilnadu Science Forum in 17th
Septemebr, 2010.
One day „District Level Paper Contest‟ on “Zero Waste Management System” was conducted on
20th
October, 2010. 22 batches of students, representing 14 institutions presented their papers on that
day. Our district Collector Sh.Rajendra Ratnoo, I.A.S distributed the prize for the winners.
To train the students to meet the industrial demands, MEGX offered summer software training
program on SOLID WORKS for the final year students.
To give on-site exposure, industrial visits have been arranged to various organizations, such as
Hydro Electric Power plant at Paechiparai and Thermal Power Station at Tuticorin.

For the academic year 2010-2011 the SAE Collegiate Club of St. Xavier’s Catholic College was inaugurated
on 14.8.2010. The keynote address was given by the Chief Guest Dr.S.Selvamoni, Managing Director, WEBCO
TVS, Chennai. The ‘Competitions of Tier1’ were held in association with SAEISS, Chennai.
The tier1 competitions that took part are,
1. Paper presentation ( Papers related to automobile)
2. Quiz Competition ( Automobile Questions)
3. Design Contest (Auto Cad for 2nd & 3rd years, Solid Works for Final Years)
The students of second year, third year and final year actively participated in the competitions.
Our Final year students Mr. Manohar lal and Mr. Promoth won the first prize in the technical paper presentation conducted by Amirtha School of Engineering, Kollam in association with SAE INDIA .
SAE Collegiate Club of St. Xavier’s Catholic College has conducted a SAE TREK on 14 and 15 august 2010 in which student members from various colleges Participated.

Department Achievements:
Eight of our students have secured university ranks. Many students are place in reputed companies. Our
students participate in paper presentation contest and bag awards. One of our projects was sponsored by Tamil Nadu
state Council for Science and Technology. One of our students is representing Anna University of Technology in the
game shuttle.
