Paraguay is located in the southern part of south America

Paraguay has two regions The Gran Chaco and the Parana

Other cities that are in Paraguay are San Lorenzo, Caplata, San Pedro, Salto del Guairá, Concepcion, Villarrca, San Juan Bausita, Pilar, Cuidad del Este, Amambay, Alto Paraguay, Central, Paraguarí , Ñeembucú , Misiones P Y ,Itapúa , Alto Parana and many more.

The capital city of Paraguay is Asunción.

The Paraguay river divides Paraguay into 2 pieces, East and West. The Eastern part is called the Paranena Region which is grassy with wooded hills. The Western side is called the Gran Chaco Region which has marshy lands.

Paraguay’s economy is based on agriculture. Most villagers grow cotton to earn money but soy bean is becoming popular.

From September to April it is warm and from May to August it is cold.

The Paraguay river or the Rio de Paraguay separates Paraguay into two pieces.

There is a lot of deforestation in Paraguay which means that people are cutting down trees in the Amazon.

Agriculture is very important in Paraguay.

Cotton, sugarcane, soybeans, corn, wheat, tobacco, cassava, fruits, veggies, beef, pork, eggs and milk are examples of agricultural activities in Paraguay.

The education in Paraguay is very poor.

Most students have to wear uniforms and buy their own school supplies this is hard for the poorer families

The classes are crowded, not enough supplies and very few students go to high school and even fewer go to college.

Classes are taught in Spanish which is a problem for people who speak Guaraní.

Primary school is 9 years and high school 3 years.

Paraguay is divided into 17 districts and 1 capitol district.

The official languages of Paraguay are Guaraní and Spanish.

The President of Paraguay is Federico Franco, he has been Paraguay’s president since June 22 2012.

An interesting fact is that Paraguay has the same name for the money the language and the natives which is Guaraní.

The major landforms in Paraguay include

The Pantanal which are wetlands and the source of the Paraguay River

Lakes including Lake Ypacarai which is a shallow lake not more than 10 ft. deep. It is the largest lake and a big tourist attraction

The Gran Chaco it is an arid plain with savannah like vegetation and occupies half of Paraguay

Mountains: Paraguay is mostly flat but has a mountain range called the Mbaracayu

Paraguay is the size of California

At Breakfast Paraguayans have cocido which is a hot drink of cooked sugar and milk or coffee, bread, margarine, rolls and pastries.

For lunch and dinner Paraguayans have mandioca, chipa, empanadas, Sopa Paraguay (Paraguayan cake) and meat.

Beef when available is included in the meals.

Fruits are also part of the diet and include bananas, oranges, watermelons, pears, peaches, guavas and papayas.

Vegetables include squash, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, onions and peppers.

One reason why people move to and from Paraguay is because of jobs. People from Paraguay move mainly to Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. There they work in Agriculture.

People also move to Paraguay because of the good climate and excellent tourist points.

90 % of Paraguay is Roman Catholic.

6% of Paraguay is Protestant

2% of Paraguay is Other Christian

1% has no religion

1% percent of Paraguay has other religions

Asunción time is 4 hours behind of Johannesburg.

Women were not allowed to vote until 1963.

The population of Paraguay is 6.4 million.
