Pete Lockett Pete Lockett is a versatile, prolific English percussionist and recording artist. He is well-versed in percussion traditions from music cultures around the world. He was so inspired from the traditional Indian music that he went on to study it and learn to play tabla, mridangam, ghatam and many other instruments from India. He has worked extensively in Hollywood, playing on a number of Bond movies like Quantum of Solace, Die Another Day and more.

U Rajesh Uppalapu Rajesh, renowned Mandolin player and composer. He is the younger brother of late U. Shrinivas who was his guiding light. He is versatile in Carnatic, Jazz and World music. His work with John McLaughlin has received a Grammy nomination in 2009. He was the youngest participant in the Magic Mandolin Festival, Germany. He has performed at BBC Live, London and at many such prestigious locations. He has collaborated with many great musicians from India and across the world and has many albums to his credit.

Ustad Fazal Qureshi Born in a rich legacy of music legends, Ustad Faizal Qureshi is an ace tabla player. Guided by his father Alla Rakha and inspired by his brother Zakir Hussain, he has expanded his horizons by being involved with other styles of music of the world especially Jazz and Western classical music. For the last 16 years he has been associated with Mynta, his world music band based in Sweden.

Vijay Prakash Vijay Prakash is somebody who has merged boundaries with his music. He has done backing vocals for about 25 foreign films including Hollywood. This soulful performer has not only sung songs in English and many Indian languages but is also a composer. He is a regular singer on A. R Rahman’s tours and concerts. He is one of the very few Indian musicians who has had the honor of performing at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, USA.

Purbayan ChatterjeePurbayan Chaterjee’s music is noted for his eclectic mix of traditional Indian classical music with contemporary world music genres. He is carrying forward the rich legacy of the Mahir Gharana. He has designed the “Dwo” instrument which is a Doppelganger of the Indian Sitar. He has performed several times with other great artists like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Shankar Mahadevan.

Stephen Devassy He is an Indian keyboardist and a music director. He is a power house performer who is fondly called as the ‘Flying Fingers’. Most sought after by leading international artists as he is able to adapt to different styles and genres. He has collaborated with various great artists like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Aruna Sairam, and Hariharan. He has also re-created the magic from the religious hymns, chants and mantras, foraying himself into the spiritual music category.

In our continuous endeavor to promote performing arts in Singapore, and the phenomenal success of the fi rst edition of MANdolin & beyond inspired Arte Compass to make this an annual Tribute to the MAN who continues to inspire us.

The 4th edition of The MANdolin & beyond marks a signifi cant year, celebrating the 50th Birth Anniversary of Padmashri U. Shrinivas.

The 2019 edition will be an evening of Classical, Contemporary & Fusion musical concert by an ensemble of world class musicians celebrating the legacy of U. Shrinivas, featuring some of the world’s renowned musicians with whom the late Maestro U. Shrinivas has collaborated with.
