There is a need for special school places in Brent and the new school would offer 100 places for pupils between 4 and 18, adopting the ethos and practices that have worked successfully at the three supporting schools. The school would be called The Avenue, for more information please visit the web- site www.theavenueschool.london where you can complete a questionnaire to show your support for the proposal. Swimming Gala We have had a wonderful start to the Spring Term and our new pupils in Orchid Class are settling in well. There is a new lost property box located outside the school office, please make sure all clothing items sent into the school are clearly labelled with your child’s name so that we can make sure they are promptly returned. We have a new Parent Governor, Anna Vaxevanidou, who will be joining our board of School Governors in maintaining high standards within the school. We would love for our parents/carers and friends of Manor School to donate any spare children's’ books to the school for use at playtime. Some of our pupils competed in a swimming gala at the Richmond Pools in the Park and showed great sportsmanship by cheering their team mates and other competing schools. They all displayed fantastic swimming skills and Fuad, Jamie, Terrell, Haben, T’Yarni, Terrell and Sabina all came within the top three in their events. Sabihah, Leo and T’Yarni won Bronze medals and Ayub won a Gold medal!

Parent’s engagements and one-to-one sessions are being arranged by school for parents who

would like more advice and help with their children’s tooth brushing, mouth care, different

brushing aids etc.

We are working with the Brent Local Authority on planning to carry out tooth brushing program on

brushing once a day in classrooms with fluoride toothpaste from the spring/summer term.

As a part of the HEALTHY SCHOOL PROGRAMME Sapna Mandalia (Oral Health Promoter/coordinator)

will be working with our pupils, supported by school staff, on fun tooth brushing sessions. She will be

using a giant mouth model with a huge tooth brush, small mouth models and toothbrushes for the

children to practice brushing on, singing brushing songs and sharing experiences on dental visits. Each

child will be given a brushing pack (with a tooth brush, fluoride toothpaste, a 2 minute timer and a

leaflet) at the end of the session to keep in school for brushing teeth in class or to take home and carry

on with the good tooth brushing.
