Change of Staff:
It is with great sadness that we announce that due to ongoing family issues, Kim McLean will be leaving us on Friday 15 March to take up a new position at Townsville State High school.
A relocation to Townsville will allow Kim, with the help of her sister Lyn, to provide care for her mother that has had a sharp decline in health and ongoing related illnesses over the last twelve months.
The school would like to wish Kim all the best for her relocation.
P&C AGM:
The P&C will be holding their annual AGM on 15 March at 1:30pm.
If you would like to get involved in the school, (Especially with fundraising for a camp), please feel free to attend.
A Trip to the Snowy Mountains:
Thank you to all parents that responded to the Snowy Mountains trip note.
There will be a general meeting regarding the trip to answer general questions and to discuss eligibility on Wednesday 20/03.2019 at 3:15 pm. All parents who are considering sending their children are encouraged to attend.
Date Claimer:
15 March 1:30pm P&C meeting
20 March Snowy Mountains trip parent meeting 3:15 pm at school in covered area.
School Behaviour Focus:
Throughout the year teachers will be focussing on specific behaviours in their classrooms in relation to our “Be” rules.
This week’s focus is “Be A Good Friend.” Students are asked to be inclusive of everyone by including all people in their games and by giving other students opportunities to choose the game.
Weekly Attendance Rate:
The weekly attendance rate for Week 3 Term 1 was a whopping 95.5%. Great work everyone.
The attendance rate for the 4 weeks to date is 93.9% which is also a great result.
I encourage parents to notify the school of student absence as soon as possible on each school day. Parents it would be beneficial to provide a doctor’s certificate for absences longer than 3 days.
Parents you must notify the school of the reason for your child’s absence. If the school is not notified we are re-quired by legislation to telephone you. If your child is going to have a prolonged absence you need to contact the school regarding this.
New Attendance Laws:
The school must now have parent/guardian notification of a child’s non-attendance on the day they are not at school.
Therefore, if your child is sick or absent for any reason, you must contact the school by phone, email or signed and dated letter to let us know the reason your child is away on the day they are away. You cannot get your other children to give us a verbal reason.
If we have not been notified then the school must make contact with you by phone or by a home visit to clarify why the student is absent.
Please help us with the implementation of this new law into the school.
by Mrs Sharon Mac Donnell - Principal
IMPORTANT…
Week 7 will be the last week of Swimming this term.
