2. Disposit ivi di sicurezza di STAR 4 TEMPI:

I dispositivi di sicurezza integrati nello scooterevitano qualsiasi preoccupazione durante laguida. Si tratta di uno scooter dall'equilibrioperfetto, dotato di un impianto frenante diultima generazione che permette di arrestareimmediatamente il veicolo senza slittare, aqualsiasi velocit di guida.

Un potente avvisatore acustico CC e gliindicatori con buzzer permettono di affrontareanche il traffico pi caotico e rumoroso.Inoltre, il faro mantiene la propria intensitanche alle basse velocit, rendendo pi sicuraanche la guida notturna.

Alcuni cons igli per una guida anco ra pi sicura.

2.1. Indossare sempre il casco durante laguida.

2.2. Conoscere i segnali stradali e le normedel codice della strada.

2.3. Guidare a velocit che permettano ilcontrollo totale sullo scooter.

2.4. Non guidare mai in folle, in particolare indiscesa o su tratti bagnati o scivolosi.

2.5. Utilizzare l'avvisatore acustico e gliindicatori quando necessario.

Identificazione motociclo

IDENTIFICAZIONE MOTOCICLO

Ciascun veicolo viene identificato da un numerosul telaio e da un altro numero riportato sul motore.

Il numero di identificazione del telaio riportatoall'interno del vano portaoggetti sul telaiosuperiore, come mostrato in (Fig. 1).

Il numero di motore riportato sul basamento (Fig. 2).

Ogni STAR 4 TEMPI corredato da un set dichiavi di scorta. Il numero di identificazione

punzonato sulla targhetta metallica fornita assiemeal portachiavi (Fig. 3).

Conservare la chiave di riserva assieme alla targhettametallica.

2. CARBURANTE

2.1 Alimentazione a carburante: La gravitconsente lalimentazione dal serbatoio alcarburatore. Il carburatore uncarburatore a tiraggio laterale con unavalvola gas che si muove verticalmente.

2.2 Indicatore livello carburante:Integrato nel tachimetro indica laquantit di carburante nel serbatoio invirt di ununit galleggiante situata

allinterno del serbatoio.2.3 Comando acceleratore: Tramite

limpugnatura girevole che si trova sullato destro del manubrio.

3. TELAIO

3.1 Telaio: Lamiera dacciaio pressata estruttura tubolare resistente. Unastruttura in lamiera dacciaio pressataricopre la struttura tubolare.

3.2 Manubrio: Lega leggera che si integra

con il fanale, il cruscotto e gli indicatoriluminosi. Tutti i cavi di trasmissionesono posizionati allinterno.

3.3 Piantone dello sterzo e sospensioni:Il piantone dello sterzo gira sul mozzooscillante della ruota anteriore. Lesospensioni anteriore e posteriore sonodotate di una molla elicoidale e diammortizzatori idraulici.

3.4 Specchio retrovisore: Specchiretrovisori dalla sagoma elegante, suentrambi i lati del manubrio.

3.5 Blocco di sicurezza: Situato sul piantonedello sterzo e azionato da una chiave.

3.6 Vano portaoggetti: Un vano portaoggettielegante e spazioso per riporre gli effettipersonali, si chiude a chiave.

3.7 Sella: Ribaltabile con chiusura di sicurezza.

6. OLIO MOTORE: La quantit di olio motore

nel basamento di 1200 ml. Essa serve allalubrificazione e al raffreddamento delmotore.

Assicurarsi che il livello dolio si trovi sempretra i due segni riportati sullindicatore / astadi livello dellolio come illustrato nella figura.Per maggiori dettagli sul controllo vederepag. 33.

Funzioni di controllo

FUNZIONI DI CONTROLLO

1. SISTEMA DI BLOCCAGGIOLo scooter STAR 4 TEMPI ha ununica chiaveper il bloccasterzo, il vano portaoggetti ed ilsedile, cos come per laccensione.

1.1 Bloccasterzo con interruttore diaccensione.

Bloccare il manubrio: Girare prima ilmanubrio completamente a sinistra epoi girare la chiave in senso antiorarioper bloccare la posizione. Estrarre lachiave dopo aver effettuato il bloccaggio(Fig. 14).

Sbloccare il manubrio: Inserire lachiave nellinterruttore di accensione egirarla in senso orario per sbloccare ilmanubrio. Per accendere lo scootergirare ulteriormente la chiavedaccensione sempre in senso orario

sulla posizione"ON" (Fig. 15).

3. COMANDO MARCE E FRIZIONE:

Sono situate sul lato sinistro del manubrio,

composte da una leva per innestare la frizionee da unimpugnatura girevole per cambiare lemarce.

3.1 Leva della frizione: Premere la levadella frizione verso il manubrio perdisinnestare la frizione. (Fig. 23).

5. FRENI: Ci sono due freni, uno azionato colpiede e laltro azionato manualmente. Entrambi ifreni devono essere usati simultaneamente peruna frenata pi efficace.

5.1 Freno a pedale:Agisce sulla ruotaposteriore.Premere il pedale del freno per azionare ilfreno. La distanza necessaria allo scooterper fermarsi dipender dalla velocit allaquale il motociclo sta viaggiando e dalleabitudini di guida del guidatore. (Fig. 26).

5.2 Freno manuale: Agisce sulla ruotaanteriore. Premere la leva del frenomanuale verso limpugnatura girevole (Fig.27).

6. ALIMENTAZIONE A CARBURANTE

6.1 Il serbatoio si trova sotto il sedile (Fig. 28)ed accessibile solo quando il sedile aperto ed alzato. Per introdurre delcarburante svitare il tappo e richiuderlodopo aver fatto rifornimento.

Utilizzo del motociclo

UTILIZZO DEL VEICOLO

Attenzione: Prima di guidare lo scooterprendere familiarit con il

funzionamento di tutti i dispositivi

di comando e le relative funzioni.

1. PRIMA DI AVVIARE IL MOTORE:

1.1 Controllare se gli pneumatici sonogonfiati correttamente.

1.2 Controllare che il gioco nella leva dellafrizione sia corretto (Fig. 23) edassicurarsi che funzioni in modoappropriato.

1.3 Controllare che il gioco del freno apedale sia corretto.

1.4 Controllare che il comandodellacceleratore funzioni correttamentee che anche il gioco sia normale.

3.6 Utilizzare il pulsante dellindicatore didirezione per svoltare e utilizzarel'avvisatore acustico ogni volta che lo siritiene necessario.

4. IMPIEGO DEI FRENI:

4.1 Portare il comando dellacceleratore allaposizione di partenza.

4.2 Premere la leva della frizione e cambiarela marcia mettendo in folle.

4.3 Per una frenata pi efficace, azionaresimultaneamente il freno a pedale e ilfreno manuale.

1. RIMOZIONE E RIPOSIZIONAMENTODELLE CARENATURE:

La carenatura sul lato destro deve essere rimossaper poter controllare il livello dellolio e la candela. Lacarenatura sul lato sinistro deve essere rimossa perpoter estrarre o rimettere a posto la ruota di scorta.Le leve per aprire le carenature sono posizionatesotto il sedile. Per rimuovere le carenature:

1.1 Alzare il sedile come indicato a pagina 19.1.2 Girare le leve di apertura delle

carenature verso lesterno (Fig. 32).1.3 Tenere la carenatura con entrambe le

mani ed estrarre lestremit dellacarenatura spingendola verso lalto egirandola verso lesterno (Fig. 33 e 34).

1.4 Estrarre la carenatura liberando la suaestremit posteriore. (Fig. 35).

1.5 Riposizionare la carenatura, eseguendola procedura descritta qui sopra inordine inverso.

2.3.4 Spostare la manopola del carburantesulla posizione "close".

Avviare il motore in modo da esaurireil carburante presente nel carburatoree nel tubo di mandata. Il motore sifermer automaticamente quando ilcarburante sar esaurito.

2.3.5 Rimuovere la ruota di scorta comedescritto a pagina 31.

2.3.6 Appoggiare lo scooter delicatamente sullato destro col manicotto del manubrioche tocca terra ad angolo retto.

2.3.7 Innestare la prima marcia e mantenerela ruota con una mano. Rimuovere icinque dadi che fissano la ruota altamburo del freno utilizzando la chiavea tubo (Fig. 38).

2.3.8 Rimuovere le rondelle elastiche edestrarre la ruota dal tamburo del freno.

2.3.9 Per rimontarla, eseguire la procedurasopra descritta in ordine inverso.

Precauzione:

1. Stringere tutti i dadi di fissaggio della ruota inmodo alterno e progressivo. Ricontrollare che

tutti i dadi siano stretti correttamente.

2. Verificare che la pressione dei pneumatici sia allivello raccomandato presso la stazione di

servizio pi vicina.

3.2.4 Estrarre lasta e controllare il livellodellolio, come mostrato in fig. 9. Il livello

dell'olio dovrebbe essere compreso tra ledue tacche di livello inferiore e superiore

3.2.6 Fissare nuovamente lasta di livello.3.2.7 Pulire lolio in eccesso eventualmente

3.3.2 Scollegare il cavo conduttore di AT (Fig. 42).3.3.3 Asciugare e pulire la zona intorno alla

candela.3.3.4 Svitare la candela utilizzando la chiave a

tubo (Fig. 43).

3.3.5 Pulire a fondo qualsiasi deposito dicarbonio.

3.3.6 Ricollocare la candela nella sua posizione.3.3.7 Rimontare la carenatura.

Se si ha a disposizione uno spessimetro possibile controllare la distanza tra gli

elettrodi nella candela. Essa dovrebbeessere di 0,7-0,8 mm (Fig. 41). Perregolare nuovamente lapertura preferibile rivolgersi a un centroassistenza LML autorizzato.

La batteria richiede una manutenzione regolareed accurata come raccomandato in seguito:4.1.1 Il livello di elettroliti deve sempre essere

compreso nell'intervallo indicato sullabatteria. Normalmente un livello

costante nellintervallo specificato vienemantenuto per circa due mesi oapprossimativamente 2000 km (Fig. 44).

4.3.2 Pulire accuratamente la batteria dallesterno.4.3.3 Inserire la batteria nella cassetta della

batteria.4.3.4 Collegare la cinghia di fissaggio prima al

gancio inferiore, poi mantenere saldamentela batteria con una mano, stringere lacinghia e fissarla al gancio superiore.Controllare nuovamente se la batteria saldamente assicurata (Fig. 46).

4.3.5 Fissare nuovamente il tubo di scarico eassicurarsi che sia inserito correttamenteattraverso il suo morsetto.

4.3.6 Fissare prima il morsetto "Positivo" (+) ed inseguito il morsetto "Negativo" ().

4.3.7 Assicurarsi che il cavo della batteria nontocchi una superficie metallica durante ilsuo riposizionamento.

4.3.8 Applicare del grasso intorno ai morsetti perprevenire la corrosione.

4.3.9 Assicurarsi che il tappo di protezione fornitocon lattrezzatura della batteria sia fissato inmodo corretto sul morsetto positivo (+) dellabatteria.

Attenzione:

Assicurarsi sempre che il tubo di scarico non sia ostruito,

piegato o curvo. Il tubo deve essere di lunghezza

adeguata. Sostituire il tubo di scarico se non ha una

lunghezza adeguata o se ostruito o piegato.

Gli scooter STAR Deluxe sono prodotti anche confreni a disco sulla ruota anteriore (Fig. 51).

Se il livello del liquido dei freni basso, recarsipresso il pi vicino Centro di Assistenza autorizzatoper rabboccarlo.

In condizioni climatiche normali si consiglia di cambiareil liquido dei freni ogni 20.000 Km o ogni 2 anni. Precauzioni :

Il livello dl liquido dei freni nel Serbatoio principale non

deve mai scendere sotto la tacca di riferimento "MIN".

Utilizzare il liquido freni consigliato (Fiat Tutela DOT 3

o DOT 4 / Mobil Super Heavy Duty brake fluid). Illiquido freni altamente corrosivo. Evitare che venga

2. Safety devices of the STAR 4 STROKE: The

safety features inbuilt in your scooter take away

the worries from your driving. It is a perfectlybalanced scooter and its state of the art braking

system enables you to come to an instant halt

without skidding regardless of the speed at

which you are driving.

A powerful DC horn and indicators with a

buzzer enable you to negotiate busy and noisy

traffic conditions. In addition, the head light

retains its intensity even at low speed that

makes for safer night driving.

Some tips for even safer driving.

2.1. Always use a helmet while driving.

2.2. Make yourself familiar with the driving signs

and regulations.

2.3. Drive at a speed at which you are in

complete control of the scooter.

2.4. Never drive in neutral gear especially when

going downhill or on a wet or slippery road.

Vehicle Identification

VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION

The vehicle is identified by a number on the chassisand another number on the engine.

The chassis identification number is stamped inside

the glove compartment on upper chassis as shown

in (Fig. 1).

The engine number is stamped on the crank

case (Fig. 2).

Every STAR 4 STROKE has a spare set of keys. An

identification number is punched on metallic tag,which is provided alongwith the key ring (Fig. 3).

Please keep your duplicate key carefully along with

the metallic tag.

CONTROL FUNCTIONS

1. LOCKING SYSTEMThe STAR 4 STROKE has a single key to block

the steering, lock the glovebox and the seat as

well as start the ignition.

1.1 Steering lock-cum ignition switch.

Locking the Handlebar: First turn the

handlebar to the extreme left and thenturn the key anticlockwise to lockposition. Pull out the key after locking

(Fig.14).Un-locking the Handlebar: Insert the

key in ignition switch and turn it clockwise

to unlock the handlebar. To switch on the

ignition turn the key further clockwise to

"ON" position (Fig. 15).

clutch and the gear twist for changing gears.

towards the handlebar to disengage the

positions, one for neutral and the other

5. BRAKES: There are two brakes one operated

by foot and the other operated by hand. Both

brakes should be applied simultaneously formost effective braking.

5.1 Foot Brake: Operates on the rear wheel.

Press down brake pedal to apply the

brake. The distance in which the scooter

can be brought to a halt will depend on

the speed at which the vehicle is

travelling and the user's driving habits.

(Fig. 26).

5.2 Hand Brake: Operates on the frontwheel. Press hand brake lever towards

the twist grip (Fig. 27).

6. FUEL SUPPLY

6.1 The fuel tank is located under the seat(Fig. 28) and is accessible only when theseat is unlocked and lifted. For filling inpetrol unscrew the cap and close it afterrefuelling.

Warning: Before driving your scooter make

yourself thoroughly familiar with all

operating controls and their

functions.

1. BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE:

1.1 Check if tyres are properly inflated.

1.2 Check for correct play in the clutch lever(Fig. 23) and make sure that it operatesproperly.

1.3 Check that the brake pedal play iscorrectly adjusted.

1.4 Check that the accelerator control

functions correctly and the play is within

normal limits.

4. APPLICATION OF BRAKES:

4.1 Turn the accelerator twistgrip back to zero.

4.2 Press the clutch lever and change the gear

to the neutral position.

4.3 Use foot pedal brake and hand brake

simultaneously for the most efficient

braking.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. REMOVAL AND REFITTING OF COWLS:

The right hand side cowl is to be removed forchecking of oil level and spark plug. The left handside cowl is to be removed for taking out or refittingthe spare wheel.

The levers for opening the cowls are placed underthe seat. To remove the cowls:

1.1 Lift the seat as explained on page 19.

1.2 Turn the cowl opening levers outwards

(Fig. 32).1.3 Hold the body fairing with both hands

and remove the cover in an upwardsand backwards movement and removeit (Fig. 33 & 34).

1.4 Pull out the cowl by disengaging its rearend. (Fig. 35).

1.5 Refit the cowl, by following aboveprocedure in reverse

2.3.4 Bring the fuel knob to "close" position.

Start the engine to exhaust petrol in the

carburettor as well as in the fuel line. Theengine will stop automatically when the

fuel is exhausted.

2.3.5 Remove the spare wheel as explained

on page 31.

2.3.6 Lay the scooter gently on ground on its

right hand side with the handle bar

sleeve touching the ground at rightangle.

2.3.7 Bring the vehicle in first gear and hold

the wheel with one hand. Remove the

five nuts securing the wheel to the brake

drum by using the box spanner (Fig. 38).

2.3.8 Remove the spring washers and take

out the wheel from the brake drum.

2.3.9 For refitting, follow the above procedure

in reverse order.

Precaution:

1. Tighten all wheel securing nuts alternately and

progressively. Recheck if all nuts are tightened

properly.

2. Get the tyre pressure checked to the

recommended level at the nearest service station.

3.2.4 Take out dip stick and check the level of oil,as shown in fig. 9. Oil level should beabove lower level make and below upper

level mark.3.2.5 If level is less add Engine Oil to maintain

correct level.3.2.6 Refix the dipstick.

3.2.7 Wipe off any excess oil which may havebeen spilled.

3.2.8 Refit the cowl.3.3 Spark p lug c leaning:

3.3.1 Remove the right hand cowl.

3.3.2 Disconnect the HT lead cable (Fig. 42).

3.3.3 Wipe & clean the area around the spark

plug.3.3.4 Using the box spanner, unscrew the spark

plug (Fig. 43).

3.3.5 Clean out any excessive carbon deposit.

3.3.6 Refix the spark plug back to its position.

3.3.7 Refit the cowl.

If you have a feeler gauge you can checkthe gap between the electrodes in thespark plug. This gap should be 0.7-0.8 mm(fig. 41). To adjust the gap again, it is betterto go to an authorised LML assistancecentre.

Battery requires regular and thoroughmaintenance as advised below:

4.1.1 The level of electrolyte must always bein between the upper and lower levelsmarked on the battery. Normally aconstant level in the specified range ismaintained for about two months or

approximately 2000 kms (Fig. 44).

4.3.2 Clean the battery thoroughly from theoutside.

4.3.3 Put the battery in the battery box.4.3.4 Connect the fastener belt first to the

lower hook, then hold the battery firmlywith one hand, stretch the belt andfasten it in the upper hook. Recheck ifthe battery is fastened firmly (Fig. 46).

4.3.5 Refix battery bleeder tube and ensurethat it is routed properly through itsclamp.

4.3.6 Fix the "Positive" (+) terminal first andthen the "Negative" () terminal.

4.3.7 Make sure the battery cable does nottouch any metallic surface duringfitment.

4.3.8 Apply grease around the terminals toprevent corrosion.

4.3.9 Ensure, Protection cap provided onbattery harness is fixed properly onpositive (+) terminal of battery.

Caution:

Always ensure that the bleeder tube is not clogged,crimped or bent. The tube must be of an adequatelength. Replace the bleeder tube in case it is not ofcorrect length or it is clogged, or bent.

FRONT DISC BRAKESTAR Deluxe scooters are also produced with Disc

brake in front wheel (Fig. 51).The disc brake functions on hydraulic system.Maintaining correct level of brake fluid in the 'masterCylinder Assy.' is very essential for properfunctioning of brake.

Check the level of brake fluid in the Master Cylinderlocated on the RH side of the handle bar (Fig. 52),which should never be lower than the 'MIN.' mark onthe transparent level indicator provided in MasterCylinder.

If the fluid level is found low, approach the nearestauthorised Service Station for topping up.

Under normal climatic conditions, it is advisable tochange the brake fluid every 20,000 Kms. or every 2years.

Precaut ions:

Level of fluid in the Master Cylinder must never belower than the 'MIN' mark.

Use recommended brake fluid (Fiat Tutela DOT 3 orDOT 4 / Mobil Super Heavy Duty brake fluid). Brake

fluid is highly corrosive. Avoid contact with paintedparts.

2. CARBURANT

2.1 Alimentation en carburant : La gravit

permet l'alimentation du rservoir aucarburateur. Le carburateur est tiragelatral avec un papillon des gaz qui sedplace verticalement.

1. SYSTME DE BLOCAGE

Le scooter STAR 4 TEMPS a une seule clpour le blocage de direction, le compartiment derangement et la selle, ainsi que pour l'allumage.

1.1 Blocage de la direction aveclinterrupteur d'allumage.

Bloquer le guidon : Tourner d'abord leguidon compltement gauche, puistourner la cl dans le sens inverse desaiguilles d'une montre pour bloquer la

position. Retirer la cl aprs le blocage(Fig. 14).

Dbloquer l e guidon : Introduire la cldans l'unit de contact et la tournerdans le sens des aiguilles dune montrepour dbloquer le guidon. Pour mettre lescooter en marche, tourner encore la clde dmarrage toujours dans le sens desaiguilles d'une montre sur la position

un freinage plus efficace.5.1 Frein pdale : Il agit sur la roue arrire.

Appuyer sur la pdale du frein pouractionner le frein. La distance ncessaireau scooter pour s'arrter dpendra de lavitesse laquelle le motocycle roule et dustyle de conduite du conducteur. (Fig. 26).

5.2 Frein manuel : Il agit sur la roue avant.Tirer le levier du frein manuel vers lapoigne tournante (Fig. 27).

6. ALIMENTATION EN CARBURANT

6.1 Le rservoir se trouve sous la selle (Fig. 28)et il est accessible seulement quand la selleest ouverte et leve. Pour introduire ducarburant, dvisser le bouchon et le revisseraprs avoir termin le ravitaillement.

1. DPOSE ET REPOSE DES CARNAGES :

Il faut dposer le carnage du ct droit pour pouvoircontrler le niveau de l'huile et la bougie. Il fautdposer le carnage du ct gauche pour pouvoirenlever ou remettre en place la roue de secours.Les leviers pour dsassembler les carnages sontpositionns sous la selle. Pour dposer lescarnages :

1.1 Lever la selle comme indiqu la page 19.1.2 Tourner les leviers de dsassemblage

des carnages vers l'extrieur (Fig. 32).

1.3 Tenir le carnage avec les deux mainset sortir l'extrmit du carnage en lapoussant vers le haut et en la tournantvers l'extrieur (Fig. 33 et 34).

1.4 Sortir le carnage en dgageant sonextrmit arrire. (Fig. 35).

1.5 Repositionner le carnage en suivantdans l'ordre inverse la marche dcrite ci-dessus.

2. Vrifier que la pression des pneus est celleprescrite auprs de la station-service la plusproche.

6.1 El depsito se encuentra debajo del asiento(Fig. 28) y puede accederse al mismo slocuando el asiento est abierto y levantado.Para introducir el combustible, desenroscarla tapa y volverla a cerrar tras haberrealizado el abastecimiento.

1. EXTRACCIN Y COLOCACINDE LOS CARENADOS:

El carenado en el lado derecho se debe quitar parapoder controlar el nivel de aceite y la buja. El carenadoen el lado izquierdo se debe quitar para poder extraer ovolver a colocar en su lugar la rueda de repuesto.

Las palancas para abrir los carenados se encuentranubicadas debajo del asiento. Para quitar los carenados:

1.1 Levantar el asiento como se indica en lapgina 19.

1.2 Girar las palancas de apertura de loscarenados hacia el exterior (Fig. 32).

1.3 Sujetar el carenado con ambas manos yextraer el extremo del mismo empujndolohacia arriba y girndolo hacia afuera (Figs.33 y 34).

1.4 Extraer el carenado liberando su extremotrasero. (Fig. 35).

1.5 Volver a colocar el carenado, realizandoinversamente el procedimiento descritoanteriormente.

Si se cuenta con un calibre deespesores, se puede controlar ladistancia entre los electrodos en la buja.Dicha distancia debera ser de 0,7-0,8mm (Fig. 41). Para regular nuevamente

la apertura, es preferible dirigirse a uncentro de asistencia LML autorizado.

La batera requiere un mantenimiento regular ymeticuloso, como se recomienda a continuacin:

4.1.1 El nivel de los electrolitos siempre debeestar comprendido en el intervalo indicadoen la batera.Normalmente, se mantieneun nivel constante en el intervaloespecificado durante aproximadamentedos meses o 2000 km (Fig. 44).

El freno de disco se basa en un sistema hidrulico.Mantener el nivel correcto del lquido de frenos en elDepsito principal es fundamental para elfuncionamiento correcto de los frenos.

Controlar el nivel del lquido de frenos en el Depsitoprincipal situado en el lado derecho del manillar (Fig.52), que jams debe estar por debajo de la muesca dereferencia "MIN" presente en el indicador de nivel deplstico transparente ubicado en el Depsito principal.

Si el nivel del lquido de frenos es bajo, dirigirse al Centrode Asistencia autorizado ms cercano para rellenarlo.

En condiciones climticas normales, se recomiendacambiar el lquido de frenos cada 20.000 Km o cada 2 aosPrecauciones:

El nivel del lquido de frenos en el Depsito principal
