– Extension Interface
– LVDS Interface
– APIX Transmitter
– APIX Receiver
– Touch Panel Controller
– GPIOs
2.2.1 Extension Interface
The JADE Evaluation Board Extension Video Input has to be plugged with the extension interface connector X100 in the connector X1200 on the JADE Evaluation board.
The extension connector X1200 is implemented especially for the extension board video input. All signals have direct connections to the XXSvideo module except signals VCC_IN_OPTIONAL, VCC50 and RESERVED_SW.The filtered input voltage VCC_IN_OPTIONAL and the signal from the not used dip switch RESERVED_SW will not be used at the video input extension board but it is possible to use these signals at extension which are not defined.

2.2.2 APIX Transmitter
APIX is a serial Gbit/s link for in-car infotainment and driver assistance systems. It features unidirectional pixel and full-duplex sideband data transmission over one single pair of a

shielded twisted pair ( STP ) copper cable. The downlink channel provides a sustained data rate of up to 1 Gbit / s, another 18 Mbit / s can be transmitted simultaneously in uplink direction.
On the JADE Evaluation Board Extension Video Output the APIX transmitter INAP125T24 ( U300 ) from inova Semiconductors is populated.
The APIX transmitter is connected with the RGB video output interface 0 from the JADE.
The outputs from the APIX transmitter are connected to 8-pin modular jack connector X300.
The pinning is so selected that a usual ethernet cable can be used and a direct connection between the JADE Evaluation Board Extension Video Output with the APIX transmitter and the JADE Evaluation Board Extension Video Input with the APIX receiver is possible.
Following table shows the assignment of pins, signals and function from the APIX TX connector.

2.2.3 LVDS Serializer
The LVDS serializer DS90UR241 ( U200 ) from National Semiconductors translates a 24-bit parallel bus into a fully transparent data and control LVDS serial stream with embedded clock information. This single serial stream simplifies transferring a 24-bit bus over PCB traces and cable by eliminating the skew problems between parallel data and clock paths. It saves system cost by narrowing data paths that in turn reduce PCB layers, cable width, and connector size and pins. The DS90UR241 incorporates LVDS signaling on the high-speed I/O. LVDS provides a low power and low noise environment for reliably transferring data over a serial transmission path.
The LVDS serializer is connected with the RGB video output interface 0 from the JADE.
Following table shows the assignment of pins, signals and function from the LVDS connector.

2.2.6 GPIOs
A 16-Bit I/O expander MCP23017 ( U400 ) from Microchip is connected with I2C
interface 1.
The address pins from the I/O expander are set to logical b'010' by 4.7 kOhm pull-up R403 at A1 and 0 Ohm resistor R407 at A0. A2 is fix connected to GND. So the slave address is b'0100010'.By removing R407 address pin A0 can be set to logical 1. By populating a 0 Ohm for resistor R406 address pin A0 can be set to logical 1. So another slave address can be adjusted.
GPA0 has to be programmed as output for resetting of the APIX transmitter.
GPA1 has to be programmed as input for reading the error status of the APIX transmitter.
All other I/O-pins from the I/O expander are free usable and are connected to connector X400 ( FTSH-110-01-L-DV-P from Samtec ).
If the APIX transmitter will not be used it is possible to use also GPA0 and GPA1 as free usable I/O. Then R400 and R402 have to be removed and for R401 and R405 a 0 Ohm resistor has to be populated.
Following table shows the assignment of pins, signals and function from the GPIO connector.

2.2.7 Touch Panel Controller
The 4-wire touch screen controller TSC2007 ( U500 ) from Texas Instruments is used. It contains a complete, ultra-low power, 12-bit, analog-to-digital resistive touch screen converter, including drivers and the control logic to measure touch pressure.
The TSC2007 is connected with I2C interface 1.
The address pins A1 and A0 from the TSC2007 are set to logical b'11' by 4.7 kOhm pull-ups R500 at A1 and R501 at A0. So the slave address is b'1001011'.By populating a 0 Ohm resistor for R502 address pin A1 can be set to logical 1. By populating a 0 Ohm resistor for R503 address pin A0 can be set to logical 1.So another slave address can be adjusted.
The inputs to the touch panel are connected to connector X500 ( SFW4R-1STAE1-LF from FCI ).

Up to now only prototypes version PA3 are available.Version PA4 is prepared where the footprint of touch panel controller is corrected.
