As a leading producer of flat-rolled steel, the majority of the client's sales came from custom orders. If a completed order was not claimed, the product was published on an externally hosted Web Sales application to be purchased by existing and potential customers.

This web application could not be integrated with the client's existing SAP CRM system, which created costly integration and maintenance issues. Additionally, the client was not satisfied with the external application service provider and wanted a new, custom developed, in-house application in which customers could view the surplus inventory, pricing details, and order status in real-time.

YASH Technologies was chosen as the strategic partner to create a custom enhancement of the CRM system, based on their deep expertise of CRM solutions and web processes.

In order to fulfill the company's goals of improving productivity, enhancing its customers' ease of doing business, and ensuring customer loyalty, YASH worked in collaboration with the client's IT department, business users, and management to design an innovative CRM enhancement via SAP's Business Server Pages (BSP) technology and to ensure minimal business disruption.

YASH redesigned the architecture of the entire landscape to ensure that SAP transactions over the web provided maximum security, and to enable access to the underlying information and stock details in the backend SAP ERP system. YASH unified and cleansed the data, resulting in a significant reduction of data duplication in the Web Sales application and SAP architecture. This also allowed YASH to provide value-added features that enriched the final solution, creating an optimal system that was future-proof, user-friendly and robust.

The complete integration of sales, inventory and Web Sales resulted in a significant improvement in customer service levels. Both employees and customers were satisfied with the depth of functionality of the new system and the benefits that it provided. The automated processes increased employee productivity by 20%.

Customer service greatly improved, as customers were now able to access information about products, execute order transactions, and view an order status at any time. The client was able to reduce IT maintenance costs with an in-house application and reduce sales cycle times. YASH was able to provide another avenue for the client to generate sales and revenue. Surplus inventory sales dramatically increased by 25%, due to the ease of purchasing. The client lowered manufacturing costs and realized a rapid return on investment.
