“Solar Walk“ in Alzenau
presented by Staatliche Realschule Hösbach
In Alzenau (a city in Lower Franconia near Frankfurt) you can find Germany‘s first Solar Walk.
Along the path visitors can witness how solar energy is used in the various buildings along
the way.
You can visit more than 20 photovoltaic stations in Alzenau. Photovoltaic means that sunlight is converted
into electricity.
Mr Handlbichler from the Environmental Agency in Alzenau demonstrated some buildings with solar collectors
and a wood chip heating system.
Mr Handlbichler told us that the solar collectors you can find along the Solar
Walk in Alzenau can produce electricity for around 30 households.
Solar energy contributes to reduce CO2-emissions.

Environmental Agency
The biggest system along the Solar Walk: in summer it can produce electricity for more than 30 washing
machines, in winter for only two hair-dryers.
