In addition to the usual and customary risks associated with a startup, Management considers the following to be Key Risks:

School Data. In order to provide a complete MAPS experience, data needs to flow between MAPS and schools within the MAPS system. There are approximately four-thousand colleges and universities in the U.S., many of whom can be expected to be early adopters of technology that enhance the student experience. Management’s initial market strategy thus focuses on two prongs: First, educate school administrators on the advantages of an app-based system. Second, access public course data in an effort to develop a demand-based system (where students ask administrators for expanded/better access).

Student Acceptance: Student acceptance is critical. Management will focus on an intuitive application that simplifies the student’s educational experience, together with utilization of various campus, web and social network-based channels for generating user interest.

Operating Costs: Management’s primary initial focus will be to add schools and end-users, and initial revenue will be limited, and the company expects operating losses for the near term. Therefore, viability will depend on Management’s ability to raise additional operating capital as needed, and to control expenses. As market penetration develops Management expects to phase in advertising, textbook commissions, “daily deal” type offerings and other goods and services targeted to students.
