Maple Leaf Charolais (Tom & Carey Stewart) in conjunction with MapleLeaf Ranch (George Stewart) are excited to be bringing you a great saleline-up once again.

We have two year olds, long yearlings and yearling bulls, and onceagain they are a very quiet, and well-mannered group. On offer, 52 FullFrench (10 polled), 19 Purebreds (4 polled).

All bulls are sired by French. 90% of our bulls go to repeat customerseach year.

Our Purebred herd is made up of 95% (or more) Full French bloodlines.We concentrate on breeding for ease ofcalving, docility, carcass, and structuralsoundness – continuing to focus on

quality. We aim to provide long lasting, low maintenance and high yielding additions to ourbuyers’ herds.

We’ve included some previous buyer information in the notes throughout the catalogue thisyear, in an attempt to demonstrate that our “style” of animal, method of feeding, and chosenbloodlines are popular in both the Commercial and Purebred industries.

Welcome to the Stewart’s 12th Annual Bull Sale.

The Stewart family have been raising Charolais for nearly 5 decades with the sameconviction and enthusiasm. This is the largest offering of Full French and Frenchinfluenced genetics you will find in Canada.

The quality is deep with a good selection of those hard to find two year old bulls,along with some bulls down to yearlings that will get out and get the job done. Thereare also more polled bulls on offer this year with some being full French. This is ahard commodity to find.

The French influence has always been known to add that extra thickness and hairproducing the calves that consistently top the feeder markets. This past fall the premium paid for the Charcross calves wasvery evident. If you aren’t using a Charolais bull you are giving up a lot of dollars when you sell your calves. The Stewartshave also made calving ease and docility a priority in their program.

This is a solid offering with bulls to suit any operation. There are many ½ brothers that will give you the uniformity that is sodesired when selling your calves. Whether you are a commercial producer looking to add the extra weight when you sell yourcalves or a purebred breeder wanting to add some thickness into the bulls you will be marketing, there is something for you here.

We used this guy on ten cows this summer, he is a maternal brother to Major52X & Pinay 256Z. His sire was the high selling bull in our 2013 salepurchased by Chomiak Charolais. 443B will be very easy calving andproduce the nice natural thickness that we like.

This is a son of Pinay, out of our flush Tempo daughter. 448B has heifer specialist all over hispedigree.

456B is sired by the great Willie Nelson, and his dam is a maternal sister to Major 52X.

438B is sired by Willie Nelson 464P. There are only two of his sons on offer this year,and they are the last two. Willie Nelson sons have really sold well for us in the past,and this will be your last chance to have one. The dam is out of Bijou, a flush heifer outof our 99K Till daughter.

452B is a twin. He was our pick in the selection process – as a result of the cattlesharing agreement we had with John Hoff (Bar Punch Ranch). His full brother 308Aiscurrently working for Everett Laboucan of Driftpile, AB.

459B is a polled full French son that will definitely add thickness to your calves. 460B is a very thick, quiet bull with a great haircoat. 461B is a long, well built, quiet, son of Reward. His dam is out of the great Eclair. His fullsister is walking in Wisconsin, USA for Richard Wright, and maternal sister – for RossLake Charolais in Stettler.

A full brother to this guy was a top seller in last year’s sale, going to Justin Magnet ofManitoba. Just like his brother, 474B is built long & thick, and in the top of the pen this season.

Here is a long, thick, polled French bull. This guy is worth a look, and then a secondlook. He is going to do good things.

This guy is a polled son of 901W, with Paladin on the dam’s side. Reward has been stamping his sons with some real positives. 486B is a perfectexample of this. He has maternal brothers working for Murray Griffiths of Ponoka, aswell as Medicine Lake Grazing; and a maternal sister went to Kerr Charolais of Virden, MB.

This guy is out of a good heifer, and our easy calving Pinay son (256Z). He should do a great job foryou, and will be good for heifers as well.

Some of the best bulls each year have been these reward sons out of Major dams, thisguy is another example of this.

52X was our high selling bull in the 2012 sale (1/2 share), and sire to this guy. 4118Bis a twin so you’ll notice a very modest birth weight, although his growth since birthand gains since October are very similar to the other bulls his age.

4125B was sired by Magenta; a bull we saw when in France in 2005. Magenta was 9years old at the time and still going strong at the bull station, his looks, disposition andlongevity were major reasons for wanting to try him in our herd.

4120B’s dam produced top sellers in both our 2009&2010 sales. This is another Reward son thatshould be near the top again. Two of his brothers are working in Heinsburg, two in Hanna, and one inBluffton, AB.

We have been really pleased in the past with the Reward x Major crossing – this guy isanother example why. He’d be a positive addition to any herd.

This guy is the result of Laurel x Willie Nelson; a solid, and durable mix.

Here's a nice thick Reward son with a fantastic hair coat. Last year's 1/2 brother wentto Barry Hok, Winfield, AB.

Here is another bull from the Bar Punch herd, sired by the polled bull Ufano. His ½ brotherwent to Doug & Jean Lamson of Hanna, last year.

This guy is very thick, with a hair coat to be jealous of on those cold winter days. His damgoes back to Ibob.

4138B’s dam is one of our best – her 2012 bull is working for Alan Norle, of Craigsmyle,AB– and there is a maternal sister at Good Anchor Charolais of Vermillion, AB.

This is a polled son of 901W, and his dam is a real good Benchmark daughter. Don’t judge this guy by his tattoo… he was born on Boxing Day; if he had waitedanother week, he’d be in with the yearlings. Last year he had a brother sell to theJohnston/Brunner Ranch of Hanna, AB and another brother went to the Johnstons ofOyen, AB.

Here is another late December bull, so he is still quite young. His sire, Charlemagne, (from the 60s)was imported from France by Hi-Standard Charolais. Unfortunately his ears were touched by MotherNature; but look beyond that and see the abundance of good in this bull.

This is a real good 52X son. His dam is a Cadet 18C daughter, and a fine bull to start offthe yearlings.

This guy is sired by a Uno son (24Z) that Bar Punch had at our farm. He is nice andthick and out of a Paladin dam.

This is a well-built fella with a good hair coat.He has full brother working for KevinSosnoski of Clive, AB.

This guy is a Uno grandson, with a modest birthweight. Last year his brother sold toLamson’s of Hanna, AB.

Here is a 52X son, out of a top Paladin daughter. This guy is a really good result from a Reward x Laurel cross.

And this is the impressive result of a 52X x Laurel crossing. This guy is a Reward son out of a heifer purchased from San Dan Charolais.

This is a Magenta son out of a Repair daughter we bought from Stephen Charolais ofMoosomin, SK. She is an outstanding cow that never fails to provide a top calf.

Here is another good young Reward x Major son. Last year his maternal brother sold toGingras Farms of Laurier, MB – and a ½ brother is also working for the Warnkes ofWetaskiwin, AB.

Here is a polled son of KCS 24Z (Uno). This guy should make an excellent heifer bull.

The dam of this guy (4114P) is now 11 yrs. old and still producing top calves withoutinterruption. Last year’s ½ brother went to Norway Valley Farms of Heinsburg, AB. Hisfull brother in 2014 sold to Calvin Meston of Tees, AB. – and another is at Lohmanns ofBluffton, AB. 549C also has sisters at XXX Farms (Kitscoty) and M&L Cattle in Ontario.

This is the first son out of the Sisteron 2141Z bull, that sparked a lot of interest in2014, but we kept him back in order to offer you offspring like 554C in this sale.

Here is another 24Z son out of a sturdy and reliable Laurel daughter.

This is the only Vittoz bull in this sale. We imported his semen to cross with some ofour top cows. 559C’s dam is also the dam of MLC 52X (Major), MLC 256Z (Pinay), andthe MLC 443B bull also in this sale. He is the youngest in the sale, and should do great things.

557C is a polled full French bull that we chose as part of an agreement we had withBar Punch. John purchased his dam from M&L Cattle (Ontario). 557 is thick and willadd natural muscle to his progeny. Don’t miss this guy on sale day.

558C is sired by 2141Z, and his dam is our precious 125K (16 yrs. old now – and shehas definitely produced a lot of our top calves). The daughters of 125K have producedsome of the top bulls in this sale.


901W is our Polled French herdsire owned with Bar Punch Ranch. Todate, he has polled every calf on horned cows. We are very pleasedwith his progeny as they are typical French – more natural muscling butwith the added bonus of Polled.
