Having written about my plans for a garden in the May newsletter, I am happy to re-port that the planting was ac-complished and the garden is growing well. Tomato plants are beginning to bloom and today I picked the first lettuce
leaves of the season. At the end of May our grandson, age 4, helped plant the last of the potatoes, which reminded me of times I had helped in the family garden as a child. In the later childhood and teen years, gardening became an unwelcome chore. But now I
these hands she will pick up toys, pet the dog and build castles in the sand. She will use them to open books and unlock the doors to knowl-edge. These are the hands that may someday sculpt, make music, or cuddle chil-dren of her own. Her hands are so tiny now, and yet
within them lie the fu-ture and the ful-fillment of all her
precious dreams. So hold her gently and watch with pride as she reaches out in love and joy to all of life.” Praise God, Creator and Sustainer of life! May your summer also be filled with the joy of life’s blessings.

have come full circle (second childhood?) and am enjoying it—especially watching the gar-den grow and reaping the re-sults. Now to find time be-tween rain showers to pull the weeds! As my garden is growing so my family is growing. On June 6, Mark and I welcomed our second grandchild, a little girl, into the family circle. She and her mom are doing well fol-lowing the birth, and my thoughts are filled with grati-tude to God for this miracle of new life, and for the privilege of watching the grandchildren grow. A greeting card we re-ceived expresses some of our feelings of joy and gratitude: “Her fingers are so tiny, so marvelously perfect. Soon they will reach out to touch the smiling faces of everyone around her…These little hands will explore, discover, and bring the world to her for her inspection and delight. With

CHERRY GROVE UM WOMEN
June 20, 2016 The UMW met at the Ever-greens on Tuesday afternoon with A tableful of guests and members. We had a short business meet-ing. We made plans to have a Rummage Sale on the 4th of July at the UM Church from 9:30 to 1:30. We have items from the church to sell and donations would be appreciated. Donated items should have a price mark. Our program was presented by Pastor Deanna. She displayed an American Flag. We are taught to Honor our Flag and all it stands for. We are also taught to Honor and believe in our God. In our Country we have the Freedom of choice to Worship our God. God Bless America. Beth served a delicious treat of two desserts. One was a Banana Split Cake and one was a Rain-bow Dessert, yummy good and of course “no calories” . We all had an enjoyable after-noon of reminiscing & catching-up with each other. Our next meeting will be Tues-day, August 9. We will start our time together with lunch at Rack’s and then at 1:30 we will go to the Ostrander Care Center. We will have a short program and then serve a treat for August Birthdays. Minutes by Bernie as Luann was unable to attend.

The 4th of July posters will inform people that by eating at the Food Stand in the Church Fellowship Hall the proceeds will help with the new bleachers.
