Achievement – Cumulative – Non Cumulative Mark Strategy
First Set Up Categories:AssignmentsExams (for this instance)AttitudeFinal Exam
- your categories should reflect your evaluation plan for the course
Select the present Term
Achievement – Cumulative – Non Cumulative Mark Strategy
Critical for Cumulative: Select your Weight and check off both terms – that way it will be calculate across the whole semester. Do this for all of your categories. Leave the Denominator at 100.
Achievement – Cumulative – Non Cumulative Mark Strategy
As you enter items: make sure that you place the item in the appropriate category. Weight the item relative to all other items in that category. For example – if you weight Assignment 1 at 10 and then later weight Assignment 2 at 20, assignment 2 will be calculated to be worth twice as much as assignment 1 towards the overall mark in the category. For this item to factor into the cumulative mark – check off both reporting terms.
Achievement – WEIGHTS & DENOMINATORS
For demonstration purposes: Assign 1 denominator 48 weight 10 Assign 2 denominator 50 weight 5
Achievement – WEIGHTS & DENOMINATORS
If I change the weight of Assign. 2 to 10 (the same as assign 1). It will have a dramatic impact on the overall mark for the Assignment category.
AchievementReview:Categories: Create all your Categories based on the Evaluation Scheme that you have for the Term:Always leave the Denominator at 100 for all your categories.Set Weight for the category based on the percent (portion of 100) that the category will count towards the final mark in the term.
Mark SchemeAssignments – 50%Exams - 30%Attitude - 5%Final Exam 15% Total 100%
CategoriesAssignments - 50Exams - 30Attitude - 5Final Exam - 15 Total 100
AchievementItems: With Items: The denominator should reflect what the assignment/exam/quiz is being marked out of. If the assignment is marked out of 25 – your denominator should be 25. If it is marked out of 17 your denominator will be 17. If it is marked out of 100 your denominator will be 100.
The Weight: is a relative measure. If all the items within the category are assigned a weight of 10, they will all count exactly the same towards the total Assignment mark. It will not matter if one assignment had a denominator of 100 and another had a denominator of 5 if they are both weighted 10 they will count equally.Homework check - 5/5 Weight set at 10 = 100%Major essay – 50/100 Weight set at 10 = 50%If these were the only two items in the category – the student would end up with a 75% average in the category. The WEIGHT setting for your items is very important.
