Dear Parish Family,

This weekend we celebrate the 4th Sunday of

Lent and I pray that your journey through this

penitential season has been blessed. I am so

grateful to all those who have joined us for

the Stations of the Cross on Fridays. This

beautiful devotion of the Church allows

each of us to travel along with Jesus through

the streets of Jerusalem and up to the mount

of Cavalry. Praying together as a

community allows us to walk with Christ in

solidarity and to be of one heart and mind.

If you have not been able to join us, I hope

that you will accept this invitation to pray

with us. There are two more Fridays left in

Lent.

I want to thank Fr. John who has continued

to work with King Richard’s Liturgical Arts on

the production of our new statues for the

Main Church. The statues have been

completed and are in the shipping process

now. On the wall behind the choir loft will be

a relief of St. Cecilia, the Patron Saint of

music and then in the niche close to the

Baptismal Font will be a beautiful statue of

the Holy Family. King Richard’s is the

company that produced our new Crucifix as

well as the accompanying statues of Mary

and St. John. The

St. Cecilia and

Holy Family statues

will truly round out

our new sanctuary

area and

complement our

Crucifix. I am

greatly

appreciative of all

those families who

have supported our work through their

generous donations.

Next weekend we will welcome Bishop

Estévez to our Parish! Bishop will be here to

celebrate the 10:00 a.m. Mass in honor of St.

Joseph. Due to the continued COVID

guidelines this year’s celebration will be

smaller in scope and we will not have a

reception. It is our hope that our new statues

will arrive in time for this Mass so that Bishop

may offer a special blessing of them. I hope

that you will join us in person or online to

celebrate this special liturgy in honor of our

Patron Saint.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Sebastian

Bulletin Announcements Announcements are due in the office by 9:00 a.m. two

Seventh Sorrow: The loss of the Child Jesus

(Luke 2:45)

And not finding him, they returned to

Jerusalem in search of him.

Seventh Joy: The finding of the Child Jesus in the Temple

(Luke 2:46)

And it came to pass after three days, that

they found him in the Temple, sitting in the

midst of the teachers, listening to them and

asking them questions.

O glorious St. Joseph, pattern of all holiness,

when you did lose, through no fault of your own,

the Child Jesus, you sought Him

sorrowing for the space of three days,

until with great joy you did find Him again

in the Temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors.

By this sorrow and this joy, we supplicate you,

with our hearts upon our lips,

to keep us from ever having the misfortune

to lose Jesus through mortal sin;

but if this supreme misfortune should befall us,

grant that we may seek Him

with unceasing sorrow until we find Him again,

ready to show us His great mercy,

especially at the hour of death;

so that we may pass over

to enjoy His presence in Heaven;

and there, in company with you,

may we sing the praises

of His Divine mercy forever.

Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory be . . .

AD TE, BEATE IOSEPH

To you, O blessed Joseph,

do we come in our afflictions,

and having implored the help

of your most holy Spouse,

we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you

to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God

and through the paternal love

with which you embraced the Child Jesus,

we humbly beg you graciously

to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ

has purchased by his Blood,

and with your power and strength

to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family,

defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;

O most loving father, ward off from us

every contagion of error and corrupting influence;

O our most mighty protector,

be kind to us

and from heaven assist us

in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus

from deadly peril,

so now protect God’s Holy Church

from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity;

shield, too, each one of us

by your constant protection,

so that, supported by your example and your aid,

we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness,

and to obtain eternal happiness in heaven.

Amen.

The official prayer of the Year of St. Joseph - To you,

O blessed Joseph (Ad te, beate Ioseph) - was

composed by Pope Leo XIII in his 1889 encyclical,

Quamquam Pluries. The Holy Father asked that it be

added to the end of the Rosary especially during

October, the month of the Holy Rosary. This prayer is

enriched with a partial indulgence (Source: USCCB).

The plenary indulgence is granted under the usual

conditions (sacramental confession, Eucharistic

communion and prayer according to the intentions

of the Holy Father) to the faithful who, with a spirit

detached from any sin, participate in the Year of

Saint Joseph on the occasions and in the manner

indicated by this Apostolic Penitentiary:

Meditate for at least 30 minutes on the Our

Father

Participate in a spiritual retreat of at least one

day that includes a meditation on Saint Joseph

Perform a corporal or spiritual work of mercy

Recite the Holy Rosary in families and between

the husband and wife

Entrust their work daily to the protection of Saint

Joseph and to all believers who invoke with their

prayers the intercession of the worker of Nazareth

Pray the litany of Saint Joseph (for the Latin

tradition), or the Akathistos to Saint Joseph, in its

entirety or at least part of it (for the Byzantine

tradition), or some other prayer to Saint Joseph,

typical of the other liturgical traditions, for the

persecuted Church and for the relief of all

persecuted Christians

Pray any lawfully approved prayer or act of piety

in honour of Saint Joseph, for example “To you O

blessed Joseph,” especially on:

March 19 (Solemnity of St. Joseph)

May 1 (Feast of St. Joseph the Worker)

December 26 (Feast of the Holy Family)

The Sunday of Saint Joseph

(according to the Byzantine tradition)

The 19th day of every month

Every Wednesday

(a day dedicated to the memory of the

Saint according to the Latin tradition)

The gift of plenary indulgence extends particularly to

- The elderly, The sick, The dying, All those who for

legitimate reasons cannot leave their home - who,

with the spirit detached from any sin and with the

intention of fulfilling, as soon as possible, the three

usual conditions, in your own home or wherever the

impediment holds you, pray an act of piety in honor

of Saint Joseph, consolation of the sick and patron of

good death, confidently offering God the pains and

difficulties of his life.

. . . if I place not Jerusalem ahead of my joy.

First Reading: 2 Chronicles 36:14-16, 19-23

A Reading from the second book of Chronicles

In those days, all the princes of Judah, the

priests, and the people added infidelity to

infidelity, practicing all the abominations of the

nations and polluting the LORD’s temple which

he had consecrated in Jerusalem.

Early and often did the LORD, the God of their

fathers, send his messengers to them, for he

had compassion on his people and his

dwelling place. But they mocked the

messengers of God, despised his warnings, and

scoffed at his prophets, until the anger of the

LORD against his people was so inflamed that

there was no remedy. Their enemies burnt the

house of God, tore down the walls of

Jerusalem, set all its palaces afire, and

destroyed all its precious objects. Those who

escaped the sword were carried captive to

Babylon, where they became servants of the

king of the Chaldeans and his sons until the

kingdom of the Persians came to power. All

this was to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken

by Jeremiah: “Until the land has retrieved its

lost sabbaths, during all the time it lies waste it

shall have rest while seventy years are fulfilled.”

In the first year of Cyrus, king of Persia, in order

to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by

Jeremiah, the LORD inspired King Cyrus of Persia

to issue this proclamation throughout his

kingdom, both by word of mouth and in

writing: “Thus says Cyrus, king of Persia: All the

kingdoms of the earth the LORD, the God of

heaven, has given to me, and he has also

charged me to build him a house in Jerusalem,

which is in Judah. Whoever, therefore, among

you belongs to any part of his people, let him

go up, and may his God be with him!”

The Word of the LORD. Thanks be to God.

Liturgy of the Word Fourth Sunday of Lent

Second Reading: Ephesians 2:4-10

A reading from the letter of

Saint Paul to the Ephesians

Brothers and sisters: God, who is rich in mercy,

because of the great love he had for us, even

when we were dead in our transgressions,

brought us to life with Christ — by grace you

have been saved —, raised us up with him,

and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ

Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show

the immeasurable riches of his grace in his

kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you

have been saved through faith, and this is not

from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from

works, so no one may boast. For we are his

handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good

works that God has prepared in advance, that

we should live in them.

The Word of the LORD. Thanks be to God.

Responsorial

Psalm:

Psalm 137:

1-2, 3, 4-5, 6

By the streams of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.

On the aspens of that land we hung up our harps. R

For there our captors asked of us the lyrics of our songs,

And our despoilers urged us to be joyous: “Sing for us the songs of Zion!” R

How could we sing a song of the LORD in a foreign land?

If I forget you, Jerusalem, may my right hand be forgotten! R

May my tongue cleave to my palate if I remember you not,

If I place not Jerusalem ahead of my joy. R

Let my tongue be silenced, if I ever forget you!

Gospel Reading: John 3:14-21

A reading from the Holy Gospel

according to John

Jesus said to Nicodemus: “Just as Moses

lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must

the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone

who believes in him may have eternal life.” For

God so loved the world that he gave his only

Son, so that everyone who believes in him

might not perish but might have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to

condemn the world, but that the world might

be saved through him. Whoever believes in

him will not be condemned, but whoever does

not believe has already been condemned,

because he has not believed in the name of

the only Son of God. And this is the verdict,

that the light came into the world, but people

preferred darkness to light, because their works

were evil. For everyone who does wicked

things hates the light and does not come

toward the light, so that his works might not be

exposed. But whoever lives the truth comes to

the light, so that his works may be clearly seen

as done in God.

The Gospel of the LORD. Praise to you, LORD, Jesus Christ.

Verse Before the Gospel: John 3:16

Praise to you, LORD Jesus Christ, King of endless glory.

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,

so everyone who believes in him might have eternal life.

Praise to you, LORD Jesus Christ, King of endless glory.

At the Mass with the Scrutiny: 1 Sm 16:1b, 6-7, 10-13a / Psalm 23: 1-3a, 3b-4, 5, 6 / Eph 5:8-14 / Jn 9:1-41

Consecration

to St. Joseph

Dear St. Joseph,

God gave you the vocation and mission

to be the husband of Mary, guardian of Jesus,

protector of the Holy Family

and patron of the Church.

I consecrate and entrust myself to you,

and through you to Jesus,

in every aspect of my daily life.

I ask you to be my guardian and protector

in all the trials, tribulations,

and temptations of my life,

as I follow Christ on that path to eternal life.

From the Lord, please

obtain for me true humility of heart,

purity of body, soul, and spirit,

and a great love of God and my neighbor.

By the grace of God,

may all my thoughts, words, and actions

-like yours and Mary’s in the Holy Family-

be completely dedicated to Jesus,

now and always.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael

St. Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle,

be our protection against the wickedness

and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him we humbly pray;

and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host

by the power of God,

thrust into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits

who prowl about the world

seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.
