I take it as a given that all of us want to pray more We know that prayer is the most beneficial thing for us Yet in the face of the many demands for our time attention and effort for good things our personal prayer can take a back seat Pope Benedict encouraged us to ldquonot be con-sumed with haste as if time dedicated to Christ in silent prayer were time wasted On the contrary it is precisely then that the most wonderful fruitshellip come to birthrdquo Time and time again I have to remind myself of this truth I need reminding that time with Christ is the best use of my time that when I am alone with Him who made me I allow Him to remake me In prayer I am the most fruitful version of myself It can be so easy to misplace priorities out of a mis-guided sense of productivity effectiveness and fruitfulness We are often praised when wersquore busy encouraged when we take the lead and celebrated for taking the initiative But what about taking time to receive peace following instead of deciding and surrendering our will for what is far more beautiful in the first place There is a lot of noise out there but this Lent I ask you to follow me and ldquowasterdquo some time

Doy por sentado que todos queremos orar maacutes Sabemos que la oracioacuten es lo maacutes beneficioso para nosotros Sin embargo frente a las muchas demandas de nuestro tiempo atencioacuten y esfuerzo por las cosas buenas nuestra oracioacuten personal puede quedar en segundo plano El Papa Benedicto XVI nos animoacute a ldquono dejarnos llevar por las prisas como si el tiempo dedicado a Cristo en oracioacuten silenciosa fuera una peacuterdida de tiempo Al contrario es precisamente entonces cuando nacen los frutos maacutes maravillosos rdquo Una y otra vez tengo que recordarme esta verdad Necesito recordar que el tiempo con Cristo es el mejor uso de mi tiempo que cuando estoy a solas con Aquel que me creo le permito que me vuelva a crear En la oracioacuten soy la versioacuten maacutes fructiacutefera de miacute mismo Puede ser muy faacutecil perder las prioridades debido a un sentido equivocado de productividad eficacia y fecundidad A menudo se nos elogia cuando estamos ocupados se nos anima cuando tomamos la iniciativa y se nos celebra por tomar la iniciativa Pero iquestqueacute hay de tomarnos el tiempo para recibir la paz seguir en lugar de decidir y entregar nuestra voluntad por lo que es mucho maacutes hermoso en primer lugar Hay mucho ruido por ahiacute pero esta Cuaresma les pido que me sigan y ldquopierdanrdquo un poco de tiempo
