It was written by the blind Fanny Crosby, probably the most prolific hymnist in history. Though blinded by an incompetent doctor at six weeks of age, she wrote over 8,000 hymns. About her blindness, she said: "It seemed intended by the blessed providence of God that I should be blind all my life, and I thank him for the dispensation. If perfect earthly sight were offered me tomorrow I would not accept it. I might not have sung hymns to the praise of God if I had been distracted by the beautiful and interesting things about me." She wrote many great hymns of praise which believers have sung to the praise of God over the years.

Luke 19:28-40

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.”

35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Je-sus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: 38 “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” 39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” 40 “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”

ChristintheGardenofGethsemaneWindowThe window depicts Jesus kneeling by a large rock and looking upwards. A light comes shining down on Him from above through the dark sky indicating nighttime. In the upper right side of the window, we see a cloud with a silver lining and a green tree indicating life. in the lower left corner is a dead branch which is symbolic of his coming death. This is the only window of the entire group which was planned to be lighted. A bronze plaque is under this window with the name of Mrs. Susan Boltz indicating it was given by her. Mrs., Boltz was married to the late John W, Boltz. The first parsonage lot on North Prince Street was bought from Mrs. Boltz. It is said that Mrs. Boltz did a lot of “tatting” to pay for this window.Susan Boltz was the great grandmother of Richard and Raymond Mowery and Frank Over, Jr The descendents are the same as those listed for the IHS window.
