Dynamic Catholic, Alive! Palm Sunday and the Passion
On this Palm Sunday, we experience the Passion of Christ: His Agony in the Garden, betrayal by Judas, denial by Peter, trial, mockery, Way of the Cross, and Crucifixion. “By His Passion, Christ delivered us from Satan and from sin. He merited for us the new life in the Holy Spirit. His grace restores what sin had damaged in us” (CCC, 1708). Christ also provides a new meaning for suffering by giving it redemptive power. How can you sanctify the suffering in your life?

Stewardship Awareness “I tell you, Peter, before the cock crows this day, you will deny three times that you know me.” Luke 22:34 How many times have you heard someone make a disparaging com-ment about Jesus or the Catholic faith? How do you react? Do you remain quiet not to cause a disturbance or worst yet, because you don’t want your friends or family to think negatively about you? Pray for the courage to speak up and enter into a respectful dialogue.

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY In 1931 our Lord appeared to Sr. Faustina and asked her to spread devotion to His Divine Mercy. He requested that a Feast of Mercy be established saying, “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners...The soul that will go to Confes-sion and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment...It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” On April 30, 2000 at the canonization of Sr. Faustina, Pope John Paul II declared that the Second Sunday of Easter would be recognized in the Church as “Divine Mercy Sunday.” To prepare for this Feast, our Lord asked that a No-vena including the recitation of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy be prayed nine days prior to the Feast. The Chaplet will be prayed at 3:00pm in our Church on Good Friday to begin this Novena. On April 3rd, Assumption Church in O’Fallon, MO will be celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday beginning at 2:30pm with Eucharistic Adoration, Confessions, Rosary, singing of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and ending with Mass at 4:00pm.
