NJCA provides Christian education to children, two years of age, up through the eighth grade. NJCA provides strong academics using the ABEKA curriculum supplemented by an Arts program including Band, Dance & Drama.


Children can benefit from early childhood education in many ways. Early childhood education is the first step toward a bright and overall successful life. Children are extremely curious and learn best by hands on experience. They want their voices to be heard and to have a say in decision making. This helps them learn communication skills to use every day. This also improves their daily task skills and gives them an understanding of the world around them. Team work is an important skill for children to learn at a young age because it is a necessary skill to use on a day to day basis. At an early childhood education center, children can interact with their own age group and learn how to help others perform a common task. Children demand a lot of time and attention and early childhood education is a fundamental part of their development. Children will engage in outside playtime, inside free time, as well as structured learning experiences. Children will develop beneficial new abilities and existing abilities will improve with practice. The time a child spends in an early childhood education program has a positive impact on a child’s life for years to come.

The Village Early Learning Center is the premier child care center

and preschool in Brandon. Recent extensive remodeling has given the

school a fresh look and international flavor. While the name has recently

changed, the school has a community reputation for excellence spanning

ten years.

The center is 10,500 square feet and is licensed for 203 children.

It offers care for infants six weeks of age through Pre-Kindergarten and

also has afterschool care for elementary school children. The 32 staff

members are certified or degreed teachers and the school is accredited by

both NAEYC and APPLE, two prestigious early childhood education

organizations. The Village has the proud distinction of having had the

highest VPK scores in Hillsborough County for five consecutive years,

most recently scoring 198 out of 200.

After ten years of operating under the Tutor Time banner, owners

Joe and Susan Miller decided to de-brand to explore other curriculum,

program, and community networking ideas. As part of a franchise system,

they were obligated to utilize certain methodology and were required to

purchase materials from the parent company. The administration felt like

they had exhausted all of the ideas from that system and wanted to explore

new educational, philosophical, and program areas. The focus on early

education needed to widen. The current staff has many years of curricu-

lum development and teaching experience from which to draw.

The renovation of the school involved changing the color scheme

throughout the building. The indoor play room has been completely made

over into a European-style piazza. The entire school has camera surveil-

lance allowing video coverage of all areas. Biometric security is used to

control entry to the school as well as a computer check in/check-out

system for students.

The Village ELC serves a very diverse student population and the

Millers were attracted to the idea of a global village. The intent is to incor-

porate cultural diversity in the new curriculum, foster curiosity about other

nations, and promote an inclusionary atmosphere for all. The school has

parents and staff that represent more than 21 different nationalities and

children of all abilities. The owners and staff visualize the African Prov-

erb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” as their guide when they partner

with parents to help develop successful children and sound students.

AWANA Clubs are held on Wednesday night in the Fellowship Center and second floor of Building B from 6:30 to 8:00PM. AWANA trains children in the truths of Scripture through Bible Study and Scripture memoriza-tion. Children will learn the answers to questions like “How does God want me to live my life?” Events like AWANA games, Bible quizzing, and the AWANA Grand Prix help to create an exciting year!
