Top Ten Reasons to Belong to the Chamber of Commerce

of the Palm BeachesReason #5 – Digital Access

The Chamber website, digital publications and social media presence all work together to create more visibility for Chamber members. They offer a variety of communication tools and, with the addition of the Chamber app, members receive even more assistance using digital media to get their message out and establish their presence in the virtual world.

• Chamber Website www.palmbeaches.org Resident and visitor information, membership directories, and Chamber and community highlights offer visitors to the website access to a wide array of information.

• Digital Publications The Chamber’s publications are all available in a digital format on the Chamber website; current as well as archived issues.

• Digital Newsletters Both the weekly newsletter, Chamber Update, and the monthly newsletter, E -Business Watch, are available digitally. Articles on key business issues and trends, upcoming events, new member listings and special announcements all come to members via email.

• Social Media With a strong presence in on-line and internet communities, the Chamber represents its members and encourages interaction and business development via social media.

• Our Members Are HiringA monthly communication from the Chamber, members are invited to submit job opportunities for this email sent to all Chamber members, community leaders and elected officials. These are often forwarded to other business contacts and have resulted in

many members filling positions with quality candidates.

• Text Message Notifications Receive a message directly to your phone reminding you of important Chamber events.

• Chamber AppThe newest digital media addition, our Chamber app, puts invaluable information directly into the hands of residents, visitors and Chamber members.

The Chamber also offers training to be sure your business has the advantages provided by digital media. Networking for members in related industries is provided by the Science & Technology Committee and their projects and events.

A review of Digital Marketing: The New FrontierThe Palm Beach Post sponsored the February Breakfast titled “Digital Marketing: The New Frontier” which featured Mike Anderson, Vice President of Consumer Insights and Communication at the Center for Sales Strategy, and Raul Vielma, Director of Digital Services for Cox Media Palm Beach. The Post awarded iPads to Christine Jax of Walden University, and Ron Walters of PayMaster.

As we move deeper into the information age, it is easy for any business owner, marketer or manager to feel overwhelmed by the infinite number of innovations. Digital marketing can become a quagmire of email blasts, social media, and search, geo- and behavioral targeting and more.

Mike Anderson encouraged our members to focus on something that’s easier to understand – the consumers we serve. Instead of trying to know all about the digital space, make it your mission to understand how your most important customers are using technology… and why.

Some consumers use the web to expedite a purchase and save precious time. Others are focused on research, so they can be comfortable about an important choice. Still others are intent on sharing their shopping experience with friends, or taking input from their social circle about a major decision.

As you get to know how and why your customers are using technology, you are at once revealing needs and priorities which, once served, can make your relationship with that consumer even stronger.

[For more on Consumer Trends and Industry Insights by Mike Anderson, visit http://ElmStreetTrends.com.]

The good news is, you don’t have to know or do it all yourself. For more information on The Palm Beach Post’s Digital Media Services, contact Chadi Irani at 561-820-4373 and [email protected] or visit us at http://realsolutions.palmbeachpost.com/.

Employment Law Workshop Bari L. Goldstein, Esq., of Christine D. Hanley & Associates, P.A., will present Starting off on the Right Foot, Staying in Step Along the Way, a seminar aimed at providing Palm Beach County organizations with a coverage template of most of the major local, state and federal employment laws. Participants will receive an overview of the variety of laws affecting the employment relationship, as well as detail on some of the “hotter” legal issues arising out of those laws and impacting organizations today. The program is keyed to the number of employees in an organization so participant representatives of small (2-person shops), medium (3 to 50 employees), large (50 to 100 employees), and extra large (100+ employees) employers will learn about the laws that affect their particular businesses. Participants will leave knowing what to ask, and thus, be better equipped to manage the risks of their own organizations. Information regarding CLE, CPE, and CEU Continuing Education credits will be provided at the workshop.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 8:30 a.m. in the Chamber board room. The registration fee before the Friday, March 30 deadline is $10 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
