We have hosted a spelling bee and geography bee, an entertaining presentation of Willy Wonka, earned the Shore Conference Title for Boys basketball, conducted a food drive, “Battle of the Books for our 6 th graders and Zumba Afterglow, raising over $4000 for the Vest-a-Dog program for the Toms River Police Department. Our dolphin students also participated in the “Hoops for Hearts” for the American Heart Association. We are now heading into our March of Dimes season, aiming to help support the cause for premature babies. Along those lines, we are hosting a baby wipe and diaper collection for a local charity. All this, while still achieving great academic success. We are proud of our students who earned a spot on the Honor Roll for the second marking period. Preparation is well under way for our spring testing (NJ ASK) and we have begun our ASK challenge. While our students are actively engaged in both academics and community service, the school year is just buzzing by quickly. As we move through our third marking period, our students and teachers continue focusing on our curriculum in preparation for NJ ASK and our fourth marking period. We encourage our students to stay involved in the many activities Intermediate North has to offer. It’s never too late to join an extra-curricular club. We celebrate with our “Teacher of the Year” Anne Marie GIngerelli, who was chosen by her colleagues for this honor. MS. Gingerelli gives 150% each day in her position as our school psychologist. “Thank You, Ms. Gingerelli” for all you do for our students each day! Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Intermediate North School Community has been extremely busy since our return from winter break. Science FairScience FairScience FairScience Fair Einstein would have been proud of the students who participated in the 2012 Toms River Intermediate North Science Fair. On February 9th, students from sixth, seventh, and eighth grades used the scientific method to find answers to their questions; questions about chemistry, questions about botany, questions about biology. Judges quizzed each student about their projects. The judges consisted of teachers, community members, and high school honor students. After much discussion and deliberation the winners were chosen. Winners go to the next round of competition in the Jersey Shore Science Fair at Stockton State College on Saturday, March 17th.
ART CLUB 6th Grade Art Club kicked off on February 9th and will run until the end of the school year. Students are working on printmaking for their first project.
Mrs. Norton is thrilled with the large turn out and enthusiasm of the 6th graders!

North Side Players News
Well, Dolphins, another successful play season has come and gone, and the North Side Players have outdone themselves, once again! Five outstanding performances of Willie Wonka Jr. were presented the week of January 31 – February 5. Mrs. Milo and Miss Ponti were “truly proud of the work ethic and leadership skills their dedicated cast demonstrated throughout the long winter months.”
Play season 2011/12 will stand out in “North Side Players History” because it is the first time ever the lead role was double cast! Eighth graders, Laura Lancelotti and
Anna Tresvalles (as featured in photo from left to right) alternated performances of Willie Wonka. The already talented actresses/ singers were able to collaborate during rehearsals to make their individual performances even stronger and more dynamic. Great job, ladies! Way to demonstrate exemplary team work!
We bid a bitter sweet farewell to our eighth graders and wish them all the best in their future HSN performances!

appreciate this, Kiara is also a renowned scooter rider!! She has been sponsored by pro brands such as Razor, Eagle, Lucky, and more!! Kiara was also the first girl to successfully land a 720! Zumba Afterglow Fundraiser for Vest a K-9
On Friday, February 24th, students from Cycle 73, along with teachers Carol Curley and Jennifer Bolcato hosted a Zumba Afterglow Dance Party. Creative Cardio kept over 240 people moving to the beat. This fundraiser was held to raise money to purchase bullet proof vests for the Toms River Police Department’s K-9 Officers. Students worked on this fundraiser after school,
during lunches and at home. Our hard work paid off! We were able to raise over $4,000.

Once again this year, Intermediate North was proud to enter into the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition. Our school Spelling Bee was held on January 6, 2012. Contestants from each cycle in grades seven through eighth, joined in the competition. The winner of our school Bee was Dan Baxter, a seventh grader. Shannon Stoltz, an eighth grader was our second place winner. The winning word for this year’s challenge was, Sphinx. We would like to congratulate all our contestants who participated in the competition. Special congratulations go out to Dan Baxter our winner. Intermediate North wishes him Good Luck as he moves on to the next round of competition at Monmouth University, on March 12, 2012.
