Dear Church Family, Think for a moment about what KC Central Church means to you. Has KC Central Church made a difference in your life or the life of your family? Do you have warm memories of shared relationships past and present? Do you or your children have memories of attending Sabbath School? Maybe you have memories of being baptized or married here. Maybe you were first introduced to our Lord and Savior here in our church, or forged
lasting friendships through our various ministries or at our church events. Whatever your memories here at KC Central Church, I invite you to consider how you can play a role in securing the future of this church. As friends and family, old or new, we are all beneficiaries of more than 125 years of faithful Christian service and member generosity. I encourage those of you who love our church to consider making a gift of service that, God willing, sustains all the good work we have come to know
from the KC Central Church family. We do this, as we do all things,
for the greater glory of God. If you are unable to give a gift of service then let me suggest that you offer up a prayer gift. Acts 4:31 should serve as a reminder of the amazing power that

Exodus 12:51 “And it
came to pass the selfsame
day, that the LORD did
bring the children of Israel
out of the land of Egypt.”
When God brought Israel
out of Egyptian bondage, it
was right on time; “the
selfsame day”. When
Jerusalem was rebuilt
after the 70 years of
Babylonian captivity, it
was right on time.
Jeremiah 29:10. When
Jesus came the first time
it was right on time. Mark
1:15 “And saying, The time
is fulfilled, and the
kingdom of God is at hand:
repent ye, and believe the
gospel.”
But what about the second time? Time seems to just drag on and on. But when Jesus returns the second time it will be right on time. Some say they hope Jesus doesn’t return until they get married. Some say they

comes as a result of a people of prayer. “And when they had prayed, the
place where they were

shaken; and they were filled
with the Holy Spirit, and they

boldness.” I encourage you
to read the chapter for it is a beautiful picture of a New Testament church. As you read the words in the book of Acts, you quickly come to the conclusion that prayer is the heart and life of God’s church. You see, in order for the church to move forward, it must first be
moved to its knees. And as I read once, “the church can do a lot after it prays, but nothing eternal until it prays.” My heart’s desire for each of you individually and collectively as a church is that we be known as people mighty in prayer. So allow me to suggest a few requests we should lift in prayer on a regular basis: • Family members who need
salvation or who are away from God and need to return. Your prayer will make the difference.
• Your unsaved neighbors
and people you work with or go to school with.
• Our church family. • Genuine revival, a return
to righteous, holy living. For the presence and power of God in His church, especially the kind
mentioned in Luke
4:18. • For the poor and sick all
over the world. • For persecuted Christians
all over the world. • For God to provide all
the funds we need to keep His House.
Rest assured, if you

Shouldn’t Jesus have come by now? After all,
it’s been over 6000 years. But we do not know if that is correct. We may have made a slight mistake in our timing. We have to take to heart that the Seventh-
hope Jesus doesn’t return until after they finish school. But when Jesus returns no one will be saying, “Just one more day Lord, just one more day.” In fact we will be pleading, “Jesus, hurry up! What’s taking so long!”. Or as Isaiah says:
Isaiah 25:9 “And it
shall be said in that
day, Lo, this is our
God; we have waited for
him, and he will save us:
this is the Lord; we have
waited for him, we will be
glad and rejoice in his
salvation” But are we really close to the end?
day Adventist church predicted the rise of America and the Papacy and the “Religious Right”, and despite the odds against that, we’ve seen it come to pass. And even though time appears to have drug on and on, we are right near the end and in just a few short days, Jesus will return and take us home.
Revelation 2:10 “Fear

thou shalt suffer...be thou
faithful unto death, and I
will give thee a crown of
life.” ♥

Ever rely on the “odds
being in your favor”? What
about “pushing your luck”?
Or, do you find you’re often
“thanking your lucky
stars”? Let’s see, which
one of these is your lucky
charm of choice: four-leaf
clover, lucky number
seven, upward horseshoe,
rabbit’s foot, or wishbone?
I know, I know, these
are considered taboo by
some, but for a lot of
people they are a
necessity in life. You see,
luck is all some people
know and trust. It’s part of
their everyday
conversation. It’s what
drives them to take
chances and make
predictions. Luck is their
go-to result of all things
“good” or the cause of all
things “bad”.
As the month of March
gets under way, I’ve taken
note of the fast
approaching St. Patrick’s
Day. I have to admit, I
have no recollection of
learning the history
behind the annual
festivities. I simply haven’t
taken the time to even
research it. My miniscule
knowledge only recalls
that there’s a lot of talk
about the “luck of the
Irish”. It’s sad, and yes I
should be ashamed that
I’m not at least a little
more informed about Irish
history.
Now, my purpose here
is not to give a history
lesson. Obviously, I
wouldn’t be the best
choice anyway. And it’s
not because I don’t find
Irish history important,
either. No, actually I just
had to point out how
much emphasis is placed
on “luck” when in all
truthfulness, luck has no
bearing on the outcome
of any circumstance.
For those unsure,
know that God has
planned our beginning
and end even before we
entered into this life.
Jeremiah 1:5Jeremiah 1:5Jeremiah 1:5Jeremiah 1:5 reads,
“Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you.” And
Proverbs 16:9Proverbs 16:9Proverbs 16:9Proverbs 16:9 reads, “A
man’s heart plans his way,
but the Lord directs his
steps.” It’s not by the
“luck of the draw” that
we’re rich or poor, sick or
healthy, tall or short, (Continued on page 4)

are spending your daily time in the Word, God’s Spirit will burden you for who and what to pray for. But remember above all, let’s be men and women of prayer – start now. Continue what you already do; just do it more often and do it more intentionally.

athletic or intellectual. Rest assured that these
things are determined by God’s providence (His
wisdom, care and guidance). We would be so
much better off relying solely on God’s plan for
our lives and understanding His purpose.
Ultimately, God wants us to live with Him in
paradise. And this will not happen by a mere
“chance”, “fortune”, or “roll of the dice”.
But a question must be asked and answered:
“what is our role, then, in this plan?” Since
there’s no reliance on being lucky, then how do
we obtain the prized possession of eternal life?
Ellen G. White states it eloquently in Counsels for
the Church page 187, “Prepare for eternity with
such zeal as you have not yet manifested.”
As with anything worth doing, preparation
and perseverance are key. The choices and
actions we make each day will determine
whether we will enter the new kingdom
everlasting. Real effort and hard work is required
while right here on earth. Overcoming
challenges, trials and tribulations by standing
firm in the word of God is what produces the
strong character traits that will endure until the
end.
Sure there will be people who will continue
on in their same stead, opting for the “odds” and
the “chance” of embracing the Savior when He
returns. They’ll take a gamble on living recklessly
now with the hope of sliding into heaven later.
All I can say is, if you’re one of those people,
good luck with that! ♥

Sauce: • 1 1/4 cup plain, unsweetened soymilk
(or other non-dairy milk) • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast • 4 tsp cornstarch or potato starch • 1 clove garlic • 1/2 tsp lemon juice • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 tsp onion powder • 1/4 tsp dry mustard • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika • 1 tbs tahini or cashew butter (optional) Other ingredients: • 5 cups broccoli florets • 1 med onion, finely chopped • 1/2 red or yellow bell pepper, chopped • 1/2 cup celery, chopped • 1 3/4 cup chickpeas, cooked (or canned
Garbanzos) • 1 tsp dried thyme • 3 cups brown rice, cooked (warm) • 2 tbs almonds, sliced (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Lightly oil
medium casserole dish.
2. Place sauce ingredients into blender and process until smooth. Set aside.
3. Place the broccoli in a steamer and steam until just barely tender. Remove from heat. Set aside.
4. Heat large, deep non-stick skillet with 2 tsp of olive oil. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery and cook, stirring constantly, for 4-5 mins. Stir in the chickpeas, thyme, rice, and steamed broccoli. Make sure the sauce is well-blended, and add it to the skillet. Stir gently and cook until heated through, about 5 mins. Check seasonings, adding more salt, if necessary, and smooth into the prepared casserole dish and sprinkle with almonds, if desired. Bake until the top begins to brown, about 20 minutes. Serve hot.
