Remembering - Ricardo Corelone Michael
Walker Rooster It is with great pride that we the family of
Ricardo Walker remember him and the blessings that he brought to our lives and the lives of
others, as the fifth anniversary of his murder passes us by. Ricardo was born October 15, 1983, to the proud parents of Pamela Wright and
Richard Walker. He was the third oldest of four children and his passion in life was his love for his family. His favorite affirmation was “Family
OSO” – we are all we have. He enjoyed babysitting (he was the best free baby sitter you
could ask for), skating, movies and spending time with his niece, nephews and younger cousins. He believed in the importance of
finishing school and encouraged his younger cousins and sister to finish school. Ricardo was
also a father, who’s daughter was just 3 months old when he was murdered, but he loved her dearly for those precious few months that they
had together. Ricardo enjoyed life and was always there for family and friends to cheer you up if you were
down. He knew and lived life as the special gift that it is - with passion and conviction. He
believed in the importance of organ donation and letting family know of his wishes. Thus when he was murdered, I was able to advise the Doctors
of his wishes - and others were able to benefit from his death. I am grateful for the 23 years of cherished memories and so proud of Ricardo,
because he was so full of life and his organ donation has given the gift of life to so many
others. Ricardo, I (we all) miss you everyday, but the gift you have given to others gives me comfort in
knowing you are still being Rooster and there are still many blessings in life. Your sister gave birth
to her son on February 11, 2012 at 2:22 a.m. – the exact time of the fifth anniversary of your murder. We love you and miss you always, and
encourage others to be an organ donor, as it gives life and hope to others.
With all our Love;
Pamela Wright (Ricardo’s mother)
Book Recommendation:
The Grieving Teen
By Helen Fitzgerald Although the circumstances surrounding a death are difficult to handle at any age, adolescence
brings with it challenges and struggles that until now have been largely overlooked. But in this unique and compassionate guide, renowned grief counselor Helen Fitzgerald turns her
attention to the special needs of adolescents struggling with loss and gives them the tools
they need to work through their pain and grief. Writing not only about but also for teenagers, Fitzgerald adeptly covers the entire range of situations in which teens may find themselves grieving a death, whether the cause was old
age, terminal illness, school violence, or suicide. She helps teens address the gamut of
strong and difficult emotions they will experience and the new situations they will face, including family changes, issues with
friends, problems at school, and the courage needed to move forward with one's own life.
Using the clear and accessible format that has made The Mourning Handbook and The Grieving Child enduring and helpful classics, Fitzgerald
guides teens through everything from the sickbed to the funeral, from the first day back at school to the first anniversary of the death.
Above all, she lets teens know that even in their darkest hour, they are not alone.

Gone © Christina A. Covarrubia Day by day I think of you,
How can all of this be true? I can't believe you're really gone,
I still can't accept it, Even after so long.
Just the thought of you makes me cry, I never even got the chance to say goodbye.
Every picture, every letter, I don't know if it will ever get better.
I always smell your familiar scent, It makes me think of all of the times we've spent.
I know we didn't always get along, And every time we talked, it would always go
wrong. So many things I never got to say,
I never imagined you'd ever be so far away. You were my brother,
And I loved you like no other. In my heart you'll always be,
You’ll be my guide and help me see. I'll never forget your soothing voice,
I would take your place if I had a choice. But now I have to let you rest,
Although without you my world's a mess. I miss you with all of my heart,
I wish we never had to part. I know you're always by my side,
So now I guess this is my goodbye...

Our February meeting will be the third Sunday in February at the "Life Transitions" building at 312 2nd Avenue North,in Sauk Rapids, a few blocks North of the Sauk Rapids Police Department. There is a handicapped access behind the house with a wheelchair ramp for those that might be in need of it, I am certain everyone will be very pleased with our new location, which is also requesting donations at each meeting. Fourteenth Annual Crime Victim’s Rights Week Brunch As announced last month, the brunch will once again be held at the Bloomington Embassy Suites Hotel. The menu will be the same as we have had the past two years as will the cost of Children10 and under will be ten dollars less. As in the past, my mental health depends enormously on getting reservations back as quickly as we can. Remember I am a fragile 82 year old person so you don’t want to be the cause of something bad happening to me. GET THEM IN EARLY. Our speaker is Patrick Poirier. He is Katie Poirier’s brother and has done many talks to various groups regarding her murder. He was suggested to me by Todd Milosovich who is an advocate from Carleton County and was the Poirier family advocate. Todd and Joanie and I were members of a short lived victim’s assistance group which included Katie’s mother, Pam. If nothing else was accomplished by this group, we certainly set some sort of record for a short existence. We will have another silent auction and if any of you would be interested in donating a basket please call Joan Lym (651-484-0336) PLEASE COME. Jim Lym
