From  the  Principal

We are so excited for Literacy Week at Draper Elementary. This week, March 2-6, is full of activities to promote reading and learning. While we work as a school to read 75,000 minutes this week, we also will have guest readers in our classrooms each day.

On Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. we will hold our school Spelling Bee. Congratulations to those students who have made it to the final bee! On Thursday, I’m offering an opportunity for parents to meet with me and learn about the current status of achievement and growth at Draper Elementary. Please join me for our Parents & the Principal Progress Report at 6:00 in the Kiva. We are excited to share how our students are doing! The week culminates on Friday with a celebratory assembly, that our students will earn when we meet our reading goal.

March is a great month for learning – report cards come home on March 2, and as we enter Term 3, we continue to focus on ensuring the success of our wonderful students. Together we have been working on targeting and improving our academic skills and supporting students with positive attendance and behaviors. Draper students have been demonstrating their achievement through class presentations and projects. We have been so impressed with the efforts of learning, creativity, kindness, and leadership shown by our students.

I am proud of Draper teachers and staff and the incredible dedication they have for improving their craft, and most importantly how their work will positively impact the children. Draper is a high achieving school because of the work that teachers and staff do each day, and the home connection and partnership we have with YOU! Thank you!

− Mrs. Piper Riddle, Principal

PTA  President’s  Message   Welcome good weather (kinda) and birds chirping in the mornings! Springtime is so fun with the buds on the trees and the lighter mornings and lighter jackets. Literacy week is the first week of March, and such a great time to read with your kids. Enjoy that extra push to help reach our goal of 75,000 minutes. If you haven't heard, our great Principal Riddle won the "Innovator of the Year" for Canyons School District Elementary Principals. Congratulations Mrs. Riddle! Because of our Principal’s idea of "specials" she brought to the school last year, all the Canyons School District elementary principals voted her the best innovator. Now, all the Canyons elementary schools will be following our lead. Thanks for all you do to help our students keep growing! Let's keep “Changing the World, one Child at a Time.” — JoAnna Meyer, 2014-15 PTA President [email protected]  Happy  Chinese  New  Year  From  Draper  Elementary!
