St. Patrick’s Day Cele-
bration
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
On Thursday
March 17th we will
be celebrating St. Patrick’s
Day with fun activities
throughout the school. In
keeping with the “green”
theme, we will be serving
green treats on this day
and having a fun dance.
Parents are welcome to
send treats for your child to
share with classmates.
Emergency Information
In case of an
emergency, the school
office needs to contact
parents or guardians.
Please make sure that
we have up to date in-
formation in your
child’s file. Attached
you will find a form to
update your infor-
mation. You may send
the form with your
child’s driver or in their
backpacks.
March madness has yet to
begin!!! We have so much to do
in such little time. Spring is just
around the corner. Time to smell
all the blooming beautiful flow-
ers! This month we will be cele-
brating the first day of spring, St.
Patrick’s Day, and Dr. Seuss’s
birthday! So get ready!
During our Language
Arts lesson’s we will be reading
a series of stories; March, Our
Sun, A sunny Day at the Beach.
In conjunction with the reading
we will have students work on
writing the alphabet.
We will be counting,
matching numbers, as well as
writing numbers during math.
We also want to challenge our
students and have them counting
by five’s and ten’s as well as
recognizing them in writing. Oth-
er’s will be sorting and matching
by colors, and we will also be
exposing our students to currency
by having them match coins (1,
5, 10, and 25 cents).
For Social Studies we
will be watching Signing Time in
order to expose our students to
ASL. Research shows that sign
language reduces frustration in
young children by giving them a
means to express themselves. Sign
language also allows students to
communicate using signs and may
motivate the verbal language pro-
cess. Another possible benefit of
teaching a child to sign may be the
facilitation of their attentiveness to
social gestures of others as well as
of themselves.
During our Science les-
son’s we will sort and match ener-
gy words and we will also be play-
ing bingo. We will also be work-
ing on a weather mobile. In addi-
tion to the small arts and crafts we
have planned we will also be read-
ing the following books; Energy
Makes Things Work, Everyday
Electricity, What is Electricity?.
We are so proud to announce Kai
Perez as our student of the month.
He has improved tremendously by
actively participating in all activi-
ties. We are so proud of you!!!
Hip! Hip! Hooray!
We also want to remind our won-
derful parents to please check your
child’s back pack every day for
any school notes that need to be
read, returned, and/or signed. We
have sent a calendar with im-
portant dates, and we will con-
tinue to send daily Home Re-
ports. Please make sure your
child has snack and/or lunch
sent to school every day, if
applicable. Make sure all of
your child’s belongings are
clearly labeled in order to pre-
vent items from getting mis-
placed or lost. If your child
has toileting needs, please
make sure you send enough
toiletries to last the day. As
always, thank you for all your
cooperation and support!
Sincerely,
Mr. Lester & Ms. Johanne

Dear Parents/
Guardians:
The students enjoyed
the different Valentine’s Day
activities last February. Our
class hosted the Carousel
School Café which was of-
fered fruits: strawberry, apple,
banana, and drinks: orange
juice and apple juice. The
café table were all in red with
heart shape center pieces and
placemats.
The theme for March
2016 is “Physical Science –
Energy Around Us” from the
Unique Curriculum (LAUSD).
These are the list of activities
for the month of March: Read
Across America / Dr. Seuss
birthday (March 2), St. Pat-
rick’s Day Party (March 17),
Easter Bunny Visit (March
The lovely month of February passed by so quickly. The students learned that February 29 is “born”
every four years; as a result of the accumulated ¼ day from each of the past years. Everyone is encouraged by
our CEO, Ms. Maria Davis to practice a healthy life style. The STEP app on our celphones encourages each
participant to walk more everyday. We adhere to the advocacy of having a healthy staff and a healthy
school.Thank you everyone for supporting the “Valentine’s Fair” last February 12. BRAVO for Ms. Maggie,
Mr. Justin and Mr. Mario who did an awesome job collaborating in order to come up with such an awesome
activity. The Speech Therapists also had a grand stint with their “Brownies Day”.
And here comes March, marching in.The community walk equips the students with the much needed
skills on how to survive in the real world.Through this endeavors, they will recognize street signs and how to
look on both sides before crossing the streets. The huge and complete kitchen classroom just across the school
campus is also available for students use. They will acquire basic kitchen skills so they can prepare their own
foods. Who knows, the big CHEF may come from our own roster in the future.
March Unique is all about Physical Sciences and the different forms of energy used in our modern
world. For Language Arts, the student’s comprehensions are challenged by reading the ff. stories: “Energy
Makes Things Work”, “Everyday Electricity” and “When Charlie Lost Power”. Math time is using logical rea-
soning for number sense, time, money and Touch Math. Social Science is about how electricity transformed
our lives. The experiment during Science time is called “Electric Balloons”. It will provide differentiated in-
structions and peer teaching.
On March 2nd, our school will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss and “Read Across America”. Stu-
dent readers will participate in “Poetry Out-Loud” contest on March 4. Green will be the color of the day for
“St. Patrick’s Day” on the 17th.The Easter Bunny is coming on the 18th. The school is closed for the Spring
Break from March 21-25. It is also a holiday on “Cesar Chavez Day” which falls on the 31st.
Sending healthy foods to our growing up kids encourage them to live an active life style. Check their
backpacks regularly and read the messages we write on their communication logs. It is the fastest way to fol-
low up on their day-to-day school experiences. It is also a good tool to write back your inquiries and concerns.
The school year is half way through! We are grateful for the services rendered by our hardworking
OTs, SLPs, Art Teacher, PE Teacher, Sign Language Teacher, Physical Therapist and Counselors. Thanks to
all the van drivers and van aides who see to it that our children reach their homes safely. We are lucky to have
our youthful technology wizard, Mr.Eryk - who makes all things possible so we can incorporate recent apps on
our everyday teachings.
Please call the numbers (310)645-9222 for your questions and concerns. Have fun exploring our web-
site Carousel School and like the pictures on our Facebook account Carousel. Check on Carousel ADP and

Dear Parents/ Guardians,
The New Year is really in full swing
and the children are enjoying the sunny
days along with the rain. We had a
terrific time during our Valentine’s
Day celebration. Room 7 made/ de-
signed this a huge “Valentine’s Day”
frame that was used for our Photo-
booth! A very special thank you to
each family that helped makes our cel-
ebrations so meaningful and fun.
This March, our theme title will be
