COLLEGE WINS AWARD The United Way has presented Capilano

College with a Merit Award for our contribution to this year's campaign! And

this from a College with a previously dismal record. Much of the credit must go to Averil Mccreadie and her enthusiastic

efforts. But, to quote the letter from Gordon F. MacFarlane, General Campaign

Manager, 11 1 am pleased to present a Merit Award to

your employees in recognition of their contribution to the United Way's 1982

Campaign. This Award is received by employee groups who have achieved 20% of

their dollar potential. Potential is calculated by multiplying the day's pay as

provided in the Standard Industrial Classification Guide by the total number

of employees . The support we are receiving from employee

groups such as yours will assist us in meeting the needs of the 85 United Way

agencies. Thank you for your support and leadership."

of Dogwood students who won this year's Cap Ads contest . This was the seventh

Commission meets here As many of you may recall, Vander Zalm

appointed a Commission on School District Administrative Costs on February 1 to look

into possible cost savings in school district operations. They are holding

public hearings across the province and on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 pm they will be

here in room A117 to hear submissions from the public. The press release from the

Ministry goes on as follows: "Mark Sager, 25, a West Vancouver businessman and

former chairman of the West Vancouver School Board, and Allan Stables, 58,

former superintendent of schools in Greater Victoria, have until Sept. 1 to

submit a report to the Minister. They are examining administration at the school

district and regional level, to see whether alternative ways of organizing

school district administrative procedures would provide improved operation. Where

possible, they will recommend ways for more efficient and cost effective delivery

of service." Citizens can also submit written briefs to the Commission-the

deadline for those is May 15.
