Happy Easter

"Alleluia! Christ is risen from the dead!”

The glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ makes all things new! Because we are baptized into His Body, we, the Church, also par-ticipate in His Passion, Death, Entombment, and Resurrection. And so we can say that we live truly Christ’s life! This is the Good News which feeds us, sustains us, and equips us to love and praise God our Almighty Father, now and forever.

We can truly say through the Death and Res-urrection of Jesus, that the whole Church, lives from the Eucharist. We were born from the Eucharist. Christ makes His Sacrifice present in time and we can only fall to our knees and silently adore this supreme mystery of faith. As people of the Resur-

rection we touch on the "apostolicity of the Eucharist." The Sacrament of the Eucha-rist -- like the Sacrament of Reconciliation -- intimately linked to the Death and Resurrection of our Lord, was entrusted by Christ to the Apostles and has been passed down by them and their successors in every generation.

“And he departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. For He departed, and behold, He is here” ~St. Augustine

We proclaim in intimate dialogue to our Lord: “Dying You destroyed our death. Rising You restored our life. Lord Jesus come in glory." Let us strive all the more to embrace Christ’s Risen Love for us.

Happy Easter and God Bless You.

Inspired by Luke 4:18 & John 1:29

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon us, because the Lord has anointed us to proclaim: ‘Ecce Agnus Dei’ - Behold the Lamb of God;

Behold the Good News of Jesus Christ.”

Felices Pascuas

"¡Aleluya!

¡Felices Pascuas y Que Dios Te Bendiga!

First Friday Rosary Please join the Knights of Columbus and the Adoration and Pro Life groups in the recitation of the Rosary on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel/Church. Everyone is wel-come to join in this most wonderful devotion to our Blessed Mother. As our Lady requested in her ap-pearance at Fatima, Portugal, pray the Rosary and join her in lifting our hearts and minds in prayer. Let us take just a few minutes to join our fellow parishioners in prayerful thanksgiving for all the gifts and blessings we have received. Our Rosary is usually followed by Benediction.

Divine Mercy Sunday

Divine Mercy Sunday is the Sunday after Easter, April 7th. We will celebrate it with a service in the Chapel at 3PM.

The message and devotion to Jesus as The Divine Mercy, is based on the writings of Saint Faustina Kowalska, an unedu-cated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to The Divine Mercy had begun to spread

On June 29, 2002, the Apostolic Penitentiary of the Holy See promulgated a decree creating new indulgences that may be gained by the faithful in connection with the celebration of Di-vine Mercy Sunday. This decree grants a plenary indulgence to those who comply with all the conditions established, and a partial indulgence to those who incompletely fulfill the condi-tions. It is allowed for one to go to Confession up to 20 days, before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.

Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Fri-day. Pamphlets with the Novena will be available in the chapel, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus.

Saint John the Baptist Easter Home & Family Blessing Prayer

Lord, our God, You whose home is in heaven and on earth, surround this shelter with Your Holy Spirit. En-compass our home with the power of Your protection so that no evil or harm will come near. May Your bless-ing and protection shield our Home and family from destruction, storm, sickness and all that might bring evil to those who live here.

(Members may take turns praying the following and sprinkling the new Easter Holy Water in each room)

Blessed be this doorway. May all who come to it be treated with respect and kindness. May our comings and goings be under the seal of God’s loving care.

Blessed be this living room/family room. May we truly live within it as people of peace. May prayer and play-fulness never be strangers within its walls.

Blessed be this dining room. May all our meals be re-minders of the presence and love of God in our home, lives and world.

Blessed be this kitchen. May our meals remind us al-ways of the many blessings of this life, and may the ill seasonings of anger and bitterness never poison the meals prepared here.

Blessed be this bathroom. May the spirits of health and healing abide here and teach us to honor and love our bodies and minds.

Blessed be this/these bedrooms. Here we shall find rest, refreshment and renewal. May the spirits of love and affection together with the spirits of the angels touch all who shall use these rooms.

Blessed be all the rooms of our home. May each of them be holy and filled with the spirit of happiness.

May our door be always open to those in need and may the holy light of God’s presence shine brightly in this home.

May it be a blessing for all who live here and for every-one who shall come to our door.

May God’s holy blessings rest upon us all; in the name of the Father,

and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

AMEN!

CATHOLICS FOR LIFE Join the Diocese for a Life Advocacy Day in Springfield: Wednesday, April 17, 2013Capitol Building, 7:00 a.m.--5:00 p.m. Lunch pro-vided. This event is co-sponsored by Diocese of Joliet Office for Human Dignity--Respect Life Ministry and The Office of Family Ministry. The Life Advocacy Day is an opportunity to meet with representatives and speak to them about our de-sire for the protection of life and marriage. This is coupled with a call to prayer surrounding the day of action. Please spread the word to your parish and anyone who might be interested. Limited Space is available on the bus. Registra-tion is required on a first-come first-serve basis. $30 per per-son (by April 5 please). Additional people will be asked to carpool. Call the Respect Life Ministry at (815) 834-4065 with any questions. Daily Prayer for Life, April 14--April 20 -- To further the cause of Life in the Illinois Legislature– during the week of April 14 through April 20, we ask the faithful of the Diocese of Joliet to pray this prayer daily. Please also consider fasting on Wednesday, April 17, to join in solidarity with those from our Diocese who will be traveling to Springfield. This prayer and advocacy campaign is part of a larger effort by all the Dioceses in Illinois, and is coordinated by the Catholic Con-ference of Illinois.

Gracious and merciful God, we ask that you send your Spirit among us to guide us and direct us n order to inspire all of our political leaders to advance the culture of life in their duty to uphold the common good for all the people they serve. You sent your Son Jesus to teach us how to pray, how to serve you in obedience and how to be the people you are calling us to be. You inspire us each and every day to appre-ciate the gifts you bestow upon us and to use them to change the hearts and minds of all people. The most pre-cious gift you have given us is the gift of life and you call us to be good stewards of all your creation. Help us to cultivate a spirit of prayer and of reconciliation for the lack of due dili-gence in protecting the most vulnerable among us; the chil-dren who are forgotten, abandoned and thought of as an in-convenience to the welfare of societies. Inspire all those in public office to protect the dignity of the unborn and those who are living who are deemed unfit to receive our care. Help us to receive your wisdom so that we may know how best to serve you and your people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Join us in celebration of the Election of Pope Francis

The Diocese of Joliet is beginning preparations for its next mission to Naivasha, Kenya (September 6th to Sep-tember 21st, 2013). An Information Evening for pro-spective missioners will be held on Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the St. Charles Pastoral Cen-ter, 101 W. Airport Rd., Romeoville. Persons interested in participating in this mission are invited to attend. We are looking for persons with willing hands and loving hearts. For this medical team we will need Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine practitioners, Surgeons in all specialties and anesthesiologists and/or CRNA’s. There is also need for RN’s and APN’s to serve in pedi-atric, obstetrical, post-op and OR units. We are also seeking a dentist and physical therapist.

For the construction team, we need people to assist repairing homes and doing general handyman types of jobs.

Applications must be submitted by April 22nd. You may download an application from our website: www.paxjoliet.org/missions/Mission_FORM.doc. For additional information on our missions go to www.paxjoliet.org/missions.

The people of Naivasha are very poor. The population has been devastated by HIV/AIDS. The economic out-look is poor and there are very few opportunities for employment. This is a life changing opportunity to make a difference as Jesus and Pope Francis are asking us to do. The face of Christ is visible in the face of every person that our missioners encounter.
