Will & Jada Smith’s Estate

Take a peek inside Will and Jada Smith’s Calabasas, California retreat. Their beau-

tiful 25,000 square feet home was featured in Architectural Digest for the month

of August, 2011. Will wanted every thing done by hand. Jada wanted to create a

family retreat, something as natural as possible, something that ties back to the

land.

Ship Island Off Mississippi’s Gulf Coast

A lot of Mississippians would be surprised to know that we have a “Caribbean like” Island right off the coast of Mississippi.

Getting to the Island is as much of an adventure as being on the Island itself. It takes about 45 minutes each way to get to and from the Island.

For those who have never taken a cruise, being out in the ocean can be a special adventure. While on the way to the Island you can expect to see dolphins jumping in the ocean waters and speed boats speeding by.

After about half way through the trip you can look back to see nothing but ocean waters as far as the eyes can see. Pretty soon you will see the first sign of the Island which is home to the huge Fort Massachusetts that was used during the Civil War. The National Park Service offers guided historical tours of the Fort.

When you reach ashore you can’t help but notice the beautiful clear blue water. As you stroll down the board walk you are delightfully taken to a beautiful Caribbean like beach. You have the op-tion of staying all day or you can take the first ride back to shore.

They have giant umbrellas for rental. You can bring your own refreshments.

Fare for the Island excursion is $27 for adults and $17 for children. They operate between March 24th and October 28th. See MSShipIsland.com

BLUE IVYBLUE IVY

Beyoncé and Jay-Z recently decided to release photos of their new-

born baby “Blue Ivy” to the public. Clearly they could have sold their

daughter’s photos for millions of dollars.

A lot of people expected them to sell their baby’s first pictures to a

tabloid or major magazine for millions. This goes to show that they

are truly a class act.

How Is Your Weight Loss Resolution Coming Along?

The typical New Year’s Resolution is made during

a time when we are feeling enthusiastic and

hopeful. Then our resolutions fade into a New

Year’s delusion. Delusional in the sense that we

have good intentions but we don’t have a plan of

action to back them up.

Weight Loss Goals

One main reason why New Years’ weight loss

resolutions fail is because we don’t set realistic

goals and we don’t break them down into small-

er goals. Instead of saying you want to loose 30

pounds, you can break your goal into smaller

goals such as to loose one or two pounds per

week.

Eating Plan

A key to a successful weight loss resolution is a

realistic eating plan that accounts for what and

how much you will eat for each meal each day.

Accountability

Accountability can be as simple as keeping a dai-

ly diary. Writing about your daily eating strug-

gles can be a great way to release your anxieties

and frustrations. Keeping a diary also enables

you to look back to see how far you have come!

You can also get a weight loss buddy to achieve

accountability. This could be a friend or family

member who can encourage you and who will

check in with you to make sure you are staying

on track.

Change Bad habits

Jennifer Hudson, who lost 80 pounds, says that

she no longer eats fried foods. She says that

she prefers natural foods that have a lot of fi-

ber.

Exercise Routines

Hudson’s routine consists of cardio exercises

such as walking, jogging, jumping and boxing.

She also does abdominal exercises. Jennifer

hired a personal training to help her with her

exercise routine.

Although having a personal trainer can be help-

ful, you can create your own exercise routine

that works for you.

“It’s all about self motivation because at

the end of the day, you can have all the

trainers and all the money in the world,

but if you don’t have that mindset, it's

not possible” Jennifer Hudson

Chef LA Juan McGill is featured with

his nephew Drake Sanders.

LaJuan McGill is an up and coming self-taught chef. He's been cooking since the tender age of 12 years old. He's originally from a small town called Heidelberg, MS.
