Mickey & Usman Ali
“Boxing is a global sport. People from many different
backgrounds come together because they love it; but
they rarely agree on everything. In this case, it's a
Unanimous Decision. Everyone admired Usman Ali.
We mourn together at the loss of a great official, and
also, for his son, Mickey Ali. Rarely, has one family
produced two such great men in the Ring. The World
Boxing Council salutes them, and prays they are
together in peace and happiness. Our sport is poorer
for their passing.”
With kind respect,
Jose Sulaiman, WBC President

Casa Hogar Santa Clara By Chris Manzur
I would like to share, that Today, one of our most
emotional events took place. WBC Cares was able to
visit casa hogar Santa Clara. Nine young girls
between 9 and 17 years old, shared their life
experience with our champions in such an innocent
way that tears were difficult to control. Sometimes I
find difficult to believe that there is a large number of
children who have never met their family, and have
been in high risk of ending living in the street. But that
is life, so, I can not help but feel grateful for those
who dedicate their own lives trying to improve others.
This is the story of the women responsible of the
home. Thanks to Ana María Torres, Zulina Muñoz,
Anabel Ortiz and Judith Rodriguez for making today´s
visit a memorable one.
Gracias a Ana María
Torres, Zulina Muñoz, Anabel Ortiz y Judith
inolvidable.

By Michelle Ponich Since 2011, Bryan's Angels have raised over $90,000 for the Bryan Mudryk Golf Classic in support of the
Alberta Cancer Foundation. Funds raised from this year’s events will support the incredible work of Dr. John
Lewis. With the generosity from donors like you, he and his research team will develop a test to be used at the
time of cancer diagnosis to predict which cells will metastasize in order to inform treatment decisions. Dr.
Lewis’ lab is also developing tumor glue that will prevent tumor cells from detaching, and this can be applied
not just to prostate cancer, but to all metastatic cancers. 100% of the money we raise will be going towards
Prostate Cancer Research (the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men).
It is a true honor to be apart of this endeavor. Like many of you my life has been touch by cancer. Please
consider becoming one of "My Angels” by making a donation in support of research that being taken from
"bench to bedside" at the Cross Cancer Institute.

Cambodia Boxing Club By Anton Trickey
My brother are in Cambodia and have opened the
first only boxing club in Cambodia, we are hoping to
help as many kids through boxing as we can and any
advice would be appreciated.
It all started 4 and a-half years ago when I went to
work in an orphanage in Mexico teaching boxing. I
didn’t like where they were going with the program
so my brother said, let’s go Cambodia.
We have a big club but still a lot of work to do. I’m
ready and there every day. I have a Facebook page
called Cambodia Boxing Club. Now, the former
national coach of Cambodia has just jumped on board
he is from Cuba and said he didn’t want to go back so
he is helping me and the Embassy of Cuba is helping
him stay here.
If anyone can help Anton with funds or equipment,
please contact him through Facebook!

Ring 8 Awards
The ring 8 Awards again demonstrated how many
good people there are in our community. In addition
to Renaldo, doing PSA's for Prostate Cancer research,
Bobby McGuire and his young fire fighters, and Mia
pushing the Mental Health in School Act, we had
Adam Willett, whose career was stopped when he
was shot while protecting two young girls. He's
making a comeback. Way to go, Adam. You're
everything a champ should be!

Ring Of Hope
WBC Deborah Hawkins and Curtis Cokes
Last night was a great success in Dallas as the Dallas Leadership Foundation held its annual gala, A Night to
Fight, to raise funds for their Ring of Hope Boxing Club. The 8,000 square foot gym opened in 2010 in a
warehouse east of downtown to serve the at risk youths in the area. Their mission is to serve these young
people using the sport of boxing and mentorship. The on-staff coach, Hector Pena, is a former fighter and a
well-known coach to pros as well as amateurs. The WBC was proud to support the event and sent Robert
Lenhardt to represent them in wishing the fighters and gym great success and encouraging them to someday
aspire to winning a Green Belt! Former WBC world champion Curtis Cokes was ringside also, encouraging
the participants of the fight card. Deborah Hawkins
Update From Japan
With my activity of Non Profit Organization, I made
a visit to the event where people who had to evacuate
because of the nuclear disaster gather together. There
were 5,950 people who lived in the town called
IIDATE town where everyone had to be evacuated
because of the nuclear disaster from earth quake. The
radiation level is still 50 times as high as Tokyo. The
people can not go back home and are spread in
elsewhere. They do not know when and if they could
go back home...The people decided to gather together
once a year to remember the town and people. They
asked me to bring some Muaythai fighters and play
with the kids as the kids commute at least one hour if
not two to go to the school so the kids do not have
time to play. They all live in temporary houses where
the space is very small and the kids do not have place
to play. It was really exciting to see these children's
smile on their faces!!! I would like to thank these
Muaythai fighters including kids fighters who travel
far to teach and play with Muaythai. I often forget in
the daily life about there are still 200,000 people
being living in temporary houses.
The people from Fukushima do not know if they
could ever go back home...We should not forget
about these people...Chisa Yamane

for Be The Match, a nonprofit organization that
connects patients with their donor match for a life-
saving marrow or umbilical cord blood transplant.
"My message is simple: Join the BeTheMatch
Registry. You could be someone's cure," Guerrero
said. "It just takes a few minutes to join the registry,
and you could be called to save someone's life."

Home. What does that word mean? To some it means a haven, a safe place to return to when issues
surrounding them become too overwhelming. That’s the home that Mia St. John has tried to create for her
children. Mia’s family situation isn’t typical, or easy, but instead of complaining she has grown into a
formidable force, not just in the ring, but in the world. And like his mother, her son, Julian St. John is
fighting, too. He is using his gift; his talent for art as his weapon against depression. Every day of his life,
Julian battles an invisible and brutal opponent. To read more about this remarkable young artist: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-david-jaffee/julian-st-john-portrait_b_2777063.html
Homeless Not Hopeless
David Walker donated a pair of Marco Antonio
Barrera for a fund raiser to help the homeless in the
UK.. The Caris Boxing Center is working with older,
homeless people as well as children in need. Darren
Hamilton came to support the gym. Darren has been
homeless himself, so it was particularly inspirational.
We send thanks to Sam Hadfield who runs the Caris
Boxing Club for his hard work and dedication!
We Welcome Mohammed “Fes” Batista as an Ambassador.
The victim of racial bullying, he turned to boxing to build confidence and esteem. Once he thought about
killing himself, now he trains at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas.
In his words:
“I am a strong person now and want to help as much as I can. I want people of all skin types to feel happy and
not insecure like I did. I want to help. I want to empower the youth and help them learn how to accept
everyone. I want to help raise awareness in America and globally too as I know it happens all over.” Fes
