Declaration Committee—Bob Costa

The Declarations Committee has been involved in keeping your documents up to date with revisions that have been presented by committee members and individual members of MLCC. At this time there are several document changes that have gone to the board for approval and onto the Club’s attorneys for compliance issues.

The Board of Directors have tasked this Committee with working with a group of Attorneys to update all of our governing documents in order to be in compli-ance with the current laws of our state. This process should take place within the next four months. At the end of this process all members will have the oppor-tunity to vote on all proposed changes that will be in our documents. The only exception will be docu-ments changes that are state mandated by law.

We are also here to help our members who wish to have additions or deletions made that will address a concern or enhance their membership experience. We have posted a “Change Request Form” on the website that is available for ALL members. Simply complete and submit to the Declarations Committee and we will investigate the available options to ad-dress your request. In order for this process to run smoothly we request you be prepared to present your request with your rational why.

Declarations Committee Agenda is posted at least 3 days in advance of the meeting. All meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm and are open to all members..

• Marketing- The club continues to improve communication and outreach through its multiple channels Please take a moment to review the Facebook, Instagram, App and Google Business metrics (metric packet at membership office and on the club website). What does the data mean to our club? The results can be measured in our current Financial packet; for example, the golf business unit increased public play by 175 players or $6,658.00 in revenue. These numbers might not sound impressive today but when you look closely at the golf departments vari-ance report this increase in public play was accomplished with thirteen less playable days than 2018. What could have been a tremendous start to 2019 in the golf department was stunted with poor weather. We look forward to the weather improving and the increased activity and revenue in all de-partments. • Golf Course conditions The weather plays a key role in excellent playing conditions, but the biggest factor in main-taining premium conditions is LABOR. Please remember the Superintendent and MLCC are bound to the conditions in our current CBA or collective bargaining agreement. The language in the contract allows our golf course workers not to have to work in the rain. Rafael contin-ues to provide a great product to play on as evidenced Friday, February 15, with 3.39 inches of rain on February 14, in the Coachella Valley, our members were out playing on their course the next day! The players I polled that day were very pleased with the conditions and were amazed at how playable the course was after all the rain. We appreciate the members’ patience as Rafael accomplishes the golf course work tasks with rain and limited golf course crews on rainy days. • Food and Beverage “Grill on the Hill’ services will commence on Saturdays and Sundays when the tee sheet is set up as a single tee. The F/B department will advertise this new amenity for our golfers and the program time will remain 10:00 to 2:00 p.m. Member charge only! The Pizza component is back at the club; the improved availability is gaining some positive traction. Please take into consideration if you have not tried our Pizza the club is using premi-um ingredients for the dough, toppings, and cheese. • Financial Brief- Gary Dack from London Guthrie was on property 2/11-2/15 for the yearly audit. Gary spent five full days at the club in his field work portion of the audit which also included a trip to our maintenance yard! Gary will provide his audit results and review at the March 20 Finance Committee meeting. We continue to strive for improvement in the member experience at the club, I encourage feedback, so please share any challenges, improvement ideas or general comments! Let’s look forward to the exceptional weather that is on the horizon and the enjoyment that comes from participating at your club.
