by Marianne Parsons A re you sure there are only 4 seasons of the year? In the Okanagan, a new season seems to roll around every few weeks with fresh colours, tastes and activities. There’s ski season, pruning season, cher- ry season, soccer season, peach season, beach season, zucchini season, tomato season, wine season and so on. What’s your favorite season? All fourteen of the Fabricators worked on their latest touring show, a calendar version of the Okanagan seasons. By creating a front cover and back page in addition to the 12 months, everyone got to participate. For the front cover, Joan Bielun chose the California quail, as those birds are present throughout all of the year. For the back cover, Diane Beadman chose an abstract design featuring colours from every season. Between the covers, you find winter city lights sparkling over the crystal lake, skiers leaping through the air, hand-painted reflections on a rippling lake, Apricot trees bursting into bloom, hillsides covered with bold balsam root blossoms, stately yucca plants in bloom, lush cherries hanging on the branch, children frolicking on the beaches, juicy bold tomatoes ready to eat, a peaceful Kelowna lakeside path under golden trees, swans returning to Vaseux Lake on their migration, and stately evergreens on the dusky hills. Each quilt is 15" x 40", and when the show is hung, the whole Okanagan year is spread out in glorious colour. 10 CA/ACC inter 2013 Calendar Project by The Fabricators A Winter’s Night by Enid Baker February by Helen McPherson March Reflections by May Brouwer August Splash by Emilie Belak Ripe and Ready by Marianne Parsons Quail’s World by Joan Bielun Seasons of the Okanagan
