Greetings AGA Austin members and friends, On March 2, 1836, a band of settlers from across Texas took charge of their own destiny and declared their solemn right to live in liberty, free from tyranny. The valiant sacrifices of the Texans at the Alamo and elsewhere delivered freedom to the settlers of our young Republic, sowing the seeds of independence that so powerfully characterizes our state today. As a native Texan that has lived in many other states, Texas history still remains my favorite. In addition to March being Texas Independence month, March has been declared by the Governor’s office as CGFM month. Congratulations to all the new CGFMs and to the future CGFMs keep the course, your hard work and commitment will pay off. For more information on the CGFM, please visit http://agaaustin.org/cgfm.html. I can’t believe it is March already. Time really does fly. With only 2 luncheons left, I hope you will join us on April 9th for The Disappearance of Madalyn Murray O’Hair Case Study with speaker Ed Martin from the Internal Revenue Service. Both meetings will be held at the Flying Saucer on 815 W47th St. #100, Austin, TX 78705 at 11:30 am. Lastly, look out for information on upcoming community service events in our Chapter newsletter.
