LIBERTY MINISTRIES - CELEBRATING OVER 21 YEARS OF MINISTRY MARCH APRIL 2017 NEWS FROM THE ROAD the official newsletter of LIBERTY MINISTRIES IT IS PART OF DOING BUSINESS A late night text informing me that the bus had broken down somewhere in Arizona was not the message I wanted to receive. The messages that followed offered some hope: "Paul is trying to 'Jerry rig' it to make it start." "It could be the starter." "There might be a mechanic in town." "We are checking on tow trucks..." Then the messages changed: "Paul doesn't think what he's doing is working." "We called... No mechanic available." "Towing is too expensive." "We will have to cancel tomorrow's service." "We need to post to Facebook: Pray, pray, pray." The result was that a mechanic was found who was able to get the bus started. The guys were advised to keep it running and not to turn it off until it was safely inside of repair shop. One of our faithful friends, Marilyn Vonderheide, was headed their way with her van to haul the guys, their materials, and their sound equipment if needed. My next text message said there was probably no starter in sight until the bus was in the repair shop in Phoenix. That is life on a bus; ours is a bus with a lot of miles. You could probably get up every day of the week, every week of the year, and pray for the Liberty bus. We are not doomed or singled out, though. Whenever you get with a group of musical artists and they start telling their favorite "bus road trip stories" there is always one that will top the disaster that you thought at the time was a real life-changer. God's protective hand is on the millions of miles, many at night, that are driven each year. We celebrate and praise God that we avoided that one species of wildlife, that hole in the road, the near miss of an accident, and even that one careless driver. This all happens because of your prayers and lifting the Liberty team to the throne of God. Yes, the bus has a lot of miles; yes, there are expenses in maintaining it (around $25,000 per year). But that seems to be pretty common with most who have a bus for transportation. While it is not the text I like to receive, I had confidence and assurance that the outcome would be okay, because I knew that people (many of you) were praying. When it was posted on our social media channels, then even more people were praying and praying specifically for this need. Thanks for your continued prayers that keep the ol' bus rolling down the road so the ministry spreads over many miles each year. You are an important part of our success. The importance of the reading of God's Word cannot be over-emphasized. Perhaps it is only surpassed by living out God's Word in each of our lives. The following are some Scriptures that describe just how vital the Bible is in directing us and guiding us to a life in Christ and therefore a victorious Christian walk.

When Jesus was in the desert fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, he was without food, so he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If Thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread." But Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'"MATThEW 4:3-4

"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the Word of our God endures forever."ISAIAh 40:8

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you."I PETER 3:15

"Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against Thee."PSALMS 119:11

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path"PSALMS 119:105

"Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth."JOhN 17:17

"For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."hEBREWS 4:12

From Liberty's song "Based upon the Word" from the album titled "It's All About Grace," my favorite lyric is, "Every promise is a truth that he has given. Based upon the Word, I testify!"

Let us be people of God's Word, finding the answers to life's challenges and choices. Others are watching us. Share with others that the Bible contains the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

for immediate release:liberty Quartet announces opening

Thanks to many of you who responded to Recovery '17. Week by week, we have seen the cards with checks and credit card payments flowing into the Liberty Ministries office. You have been a real blessing. Thanks for helping us recover from some challenging financial times in 2016. You are to be commended on your generosity and faithfulness. May the Lord bless you ten times over for your investment in Liberty's ministry.

Meridian, ID (March 1, 2017) - Liberty quartet is announcing their search for a tenor vocalist. In December of last year, Philip Batton stepped down from the group leaving the position vacant. In the time since, the group has operated in different configurations. "The group has been privileged to have several talented individuals fill in, but we have also sung as a trio," said Royce Mitchell, the manager and founder of Liberty.

Liberty quartet was founded in October of 1995 out of a local church in Boise, Idaho. Liberty is based in beautiful Meridian, Idaho, and maintains a full-time concert schedule. The current members of Liberty are Royce Mitchell, bass; Paul W. Ellis, lead; and Derek Simonis, baritone. Libertytravels many miles each year, ministering in performances for church services, nursing homes, prisons, and other ministries. They also sing at large conventions including Southwest Gospel Music Festival, Great Western Fan Festival, and the Gospel Music Fan Festival in Canada.

"We have been carefully praying and seeking the Lord's will concerning the man for the position," stated Mitchell. Liberty's ministry bridges all generations, bringing enjoyment to traditional and contemporary venues. "The group's collective desire is to glorify God, edify the believers, and reach the lost. “Liberty has been blessed with many spiritual, talented men through the years," said Mitchell, "and we believe God has the right man to join this ministry as we press forward for him."

Liberty is managed by Association Management Group, and booking is handled through the office of Liberty Ministries, Inc.

www.libertyquartet.comAt the 2016 Annual Meeting (held in January 2017), Jim Best was re-elected to the Liberty Board of Directors. Jim is known by many as the "guy behind the wheel" of the Liberty bus. The relationship that Jim and Royce share spans many years, and we appreciate Jim's investment over those years.

PRAISE GOD PRAYER REquESTS

“Outside of cosmetic needs, paint for exterior oxidation and minor rust, and interior wear and tear, the bus is running very well. We are very thankful.“Derek and Jana Simonis, along with their two boys Daniel and Avery, arrived safely in Boise, ID and are a wonderful addition to the Liberty family! Their biggest trial was getting out of the snow drifts in their Iowa cul-de-sac.

In the midst of our transitional struggles, the connection with the Liberty faithful has strengthened. The extended family of Liberty has an elevated empathy. We are not alone in this journey. John 16:33 says, "he has overcome."“The Southwest Gospel Music Festival returned to Grand Canyon university in Phoenix, AZ. It was February 19-20. All who attended were blessed! Next year, the SWGMF will be back at the same venue on February 18-19, 2018. Put this event on your calendar and plan to attend! It is well worth the valuein ministry alone, let alone your investment of time and resources.

“Pray for God's man for the tenor position. “With the three of us singing a part higher than usual, the physical strain is quite exponential. Good health and rest is paramount.

The Paul W. Ellis family has an unspoken request. Please pray.

Derek is finishing an online bachelor's degree in business, and it consumes his free time. he needs to finish strong to keep his 2.1 GPA. Just kidding!! Actually he needs a 2.3... Seriously, kidding!! his grade point average is very high.“We are thankful that folks are stepping up their financial support for Liberty's ministry. Please continue to pray for God's provision. Thank you.
