When

Mr. Kadir Turhan built his first gulet in 1983 with the intention of starting up a small business in gulet char-tering. Back then, this 16 meter vessel was one of the largest chartering gulets in Turkey. Back in those days and even now gulets were not known at all except by the few who had a familiarity with the vessels gener-ally used by former sponge divers of the past.

This first gulet was a big success and regenerated interest in gulets again. But this time its sole purpose was for chartering and leisure instead of sponge div-ing. Since then, many gulets have been built, the finest example of which is the famous Mare Nostrum, built in 2008. This 43 meter vessel is hand-crafted from a variety of rare exotic woods collected from different parts of the world. Her exterior and interior design was created with the assistance of field professionals. She is the largest and the most beautiful Turkish gulet on the South-western coast of Turkey today.
