A GLANCE OF THE SITES WE’LL VISIT:
Fatima is famous for the reported religious visions that took place there in 1917. The Shrine is called the Basilica of our Lady of the Rosary, name the Virgin Mary chose when she appeared to local peasants children in a pasture called Cova da Iria. Obidos is surrounded by medieval walls where we can admire the harmony of its architecture, and the diversity of their handicrafts. Stroll through its narrow cobblestone streets streets that seem to echo the footsteps of the royals and commoners who once walked on these stones. The houses add charm to the town with their white walls and blue trimmings complemented by flower boxes filled with a riot of colors. One of the main attractions is its castle and the Church of St. Mary.
Braga is a city in northwestern Portugal, close to Galicia. It is considered the oldest Christian archdiocese in the country and one of the oldest in the world
Santiago de Compostela is a charming Galician town. Its magnificent Cathedral is the reputed burial-place of Apostle St. James and it is the destination of The Way of St. James, a major historical pilgrimage route since the Middle Ages. Guided sightseeing visiting the cathedral.

Burgos was founded in 884, and its historical heritage is always evident to the visitor. It’s a monumental town, charming for its medieval northern Castilian ambience, its gothic cathedral,Cartuja de Miraflores, and the Monastery of Las Huelgas. San Ignacio de Loyola was a Spanish knight from a local Basque noble family, hermit, priest since 1537, and theologian, who founded the Society of Jesus (Jesuits Order) and, on 19 April 1541, became its first Superior General
Lourdes is the most visited pilgrimage shrine in the Christian world and the site of a Marian apparition in 1858 to the 14-year old Bernadette Soubirous. Four to six million pilgrims visit the shrine each year, from around the world, and it is estimated that more than 200 million pilgrins have come to Lourdes since 1860. Barcelona is located in the northeastern part of the country, 90 miles south of the French border. People from all around the world enjoy visiting this city for its individuality, cultural interest and physical beauty. When Hans Christian Andersen visited in 1862, he remarked that Barcelona was the "Paris of Spain." You're likely to agree. The city is a major cultural center with a fascinating history. Everywhere are archives, libraries, museums and buildings of interest - plus superb examples of modernist and Art Nouveau décor and architecture. Day 1: USA- Lisbon, Portugal
Overnight flight to Lisbon. Dinner, movie, and breakfast on board.
Day 2: Lisbon–Obidos-Alcobaça–Fátima
Welcome to Portugal! Meeting and assistance upon arrival and transfer to Fatima.
En route visit to the medieval walled city of Obidos. Stop in Alcobaça to visit the 12th-century
Church of Santa Maria Monastery, built for 999 Cistercian monks and one of the most important
medieval monasteries in Portugal. In the late-afternoon, arrive in Fátima, site of one of the world’s
most famous Catholic shrines. This evening meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers and join
the rosary and candlelight procession at the Our Lady of Fátima Basilica. Welcome Dinner at

Day 3: Fátima
After breakfast this morning, attend Mass at the Sanctuary and visit the Our Lady of Fátima Shrine
with the tombs of the visionaries and the Chapel of the Apparitions, made famous by the Virgin
Mary’s apparition to three shepherd children—Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia—on May 13, 1917.
This afternoon, time to explore on your own, or join a guided optional excursion. Dinner at your

Day 4 Fátima–Braga–Santiago De Compostela, Spain
Journey north this morning and stop in Braga, one of the oldest Christian cities in the world and
nicknamed the “Portuguese Rome.” Visit the Bom Jesus do Monte (Good Jesus of the Mount)
sanctuary and see the unique zigzag stairway that is dedicated to the five senses—sight, smell,
hearing, touch, and taste—and the three theological virtues—faith, hope, and charity. Later, cross
into Spain and head for Santiago de Compostela. Visit St. James' Cathedral and attend the rosary
and Mass. Santiago de Compostela has been known throughout history for the key 9th-century
pilgrimage route, the Way of St. James, to its cathedral, which houses the Apostle James’ remains

Day 5 Santiago De Compostela–Burgos
Today, travel to Burgos, the historic capital of Old Castile. Your visit, upon arrival, takes you to
the magnificent cathedral, a masterpiece of gothic architecture and the burial place of Spanish
national hero El Cid. Dinner at your hotel in Burgos. Overnight in Burgos (B,D)
Day 6 Burgos–San Ignacio De Loyola–San Sebastian-Lourdes, France
Travel through the Basque region toward Lourdes. En route, attend Mass at the 17th-century
Sanctuary of Loyola, built in honor of San Ignacio de Loyola, founder of the Jesuit religious order.
See its spectacular dome and main altarpiece, built in marble and jasper. En route stop in San
Sebastian for a look at the famous bay. Cross the border into France, and overnight in Lourdes,
home to another of the world’s most famous places of pilgrimage. Dinner at your hotel in Lourdes.

Day 7 Lourdes
Today’s guided walking tour includes the grotto where the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Bernadette
in 1858, Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Bernadette’s birthplace, and her family home. The afternoon
is at leisure to further explore this little market town that became a pilgrimage place of world

Day 8: Lourdes–Carcassonne–Barcelona, Spain
Leave France this morning and head for the French-Spanish border. En route, visit fortified
Carcassonne, founded by the Visigoths in the 5th century and the most medieval-looking city in
France. See the ramparts, castle walls, and drawbridges that are still well preserved from the
Middle Ages. Overnight in Catalonia’s lively and beautiful capital, Barcelona. Dinner at your

Day 9: Barcelona
Guided sightseeing includes a drive around Montjuïc to see the Olympic Stadium and a great
panoramic view of the port and city. Continue to the city center to Plaza Catalunya and Paseo de
Gracia to admire the fascinating eccentricity of Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces in Houses
Battló and Mila and the Sagrada Familia (entrance fees included). Join the optional excursion to
Montserrat, situated 4,055 feet above sea level in a mountain range composed of strikingly pink
conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock, and site of the Benedictine abbey that hosts the Virgin
of Montserrat Sanctuary, patron saint of Catalonia. Farewell Dinner tonight at your hotel in
