*Dissolved oxygen in Navotas station fell within theborderline level. Acceptable continouos level forDO must be greater than 5.0 ppm.
Chemical parameters e.g. nitrite, ammonia andhyfrogen sulfide that may cause stress or death toaquatic organisms were not detected and probablynot present.
Other physico-chemical parameters liketemperature, pH, transparency and carbon dioxidehave levels favorable for fish culture.
Recommendations:
Remove plastic and other solid wastes present inthe coastal shores.
Regulate wastes coming from agriculture andpoultry or livestocks that may be carried byBinambang River to Balayan Bay.
Regular monthly monitoring of water quality mustbe conducted during the duration of the seaweed
farming and mariculture project.Ang Nagkakaisang Mamamayang Kostal ng Balayan[ANAKBALAYAN], Inc.

RationaleRationale
Yield from capture fisheries is unpredictableand widely accepted to have reached a pointof declining productivity
With problems of over fishing, destructivefishing, pollution and loss of marine habitat
Municipal fisheries production will continue todecline- as the increasing population continueto even exert more pressure on dwindlingmarine resources
In the future our costal villages will find capture
fisheries an increasingly difficult source of foodand livelihood.
